What's her feminist agenda?
>>
>>87635904
It got cancelled didn't it? So probably...
>>
Yeah, even with some bumpy spots it's overall a fun ride and a nice spy story.
>>
>>87635904
The resulting shitstorm was far more entertaining than the comic itself, which was merely shit.
>>
>>87635904
Last issue ends with Hawkeye and her current new bf fighting over who gets to rub her feet.

Two good issues. Two storytime of pain issues. The rest, bleh or less.

It's only 7 issues. Just read the damm thing and decide for yourself OP.

Murdering a man to cover up infidelity.
>>
>>87635904
No

There was some really nice art and good attempts at interesting, different storytelling ways, so there was potential. However the obnoxious writing killed it.

Mockingbird was written to be a completely obnoxious, slightly sociopathic bitch who the writer however clearly wanted to show as awesome and in the right and always the smartest person in the room. Men in general were written like hot but dumb beefcake who either die or need rescuing or are so incredibly dumb they can't tell reality apart from fiction. The last part specifically being comics fans and cosplayers, i.e. the people still willing to read and pay for comics. They also retconned her from being a rape victim who got back at her attacker and continued with her life into a psycho who cheated on her husband and then murdered her lover in cold blood for no real reason and lied that she was raped to cover it up.

It started okay but descended into being total shit by 6th or so issue, whenever they had that fiasco of a rescue and the girls in the rainbow bubble.
>>
>>87635904
The first two issues are 5.5/10. Everything else was shit.
>>
>>87635904

The 'heroine' was completely obnoxious. Like, insanely so.

Wasn't that the third or fourth issue?

Third issue was bubble girl.

Sixth issue was cruise ship where she just drew dudes on the cruise, and didn't actually do anything interesting, which lead right into the whole hawkeye trainwreck.

>>87635904
If you only read the first two issues and then make up the rest of the story in your mind then yeah it's fantastic!

Issue 3 and the final issue were probably the worst issues of any comic book written in the past 5 years under a major publisher.

I can't see anyone buying this comic and thinking "wow I'd like to see more of this!" Even womyn hated it despite the circle jerk reviews and refused to buy it.
>>
Actually yeah. Apart from the stupid mystery box or whatever issues it was nice (issue #3 was the best by far) and Bobby herself is a pretty great character, admirable and pettyable in equal measure.

In fact I don't think I remember another character like that.
>>
>>87636204
People make posts like this on /co/, and then wonder why feminists are mad at comics. You really have to admire the self-awareness cape-readers have.

I mean, not that it matters anymore, or that it will for the next couple of years, but if Chelsea Cain ever writes another comic, I sincerely hope it won't be for either Marvel or DC.

Having to discuss her work with the kind of people who read superhero comics in 2016 is not a particularly enlightening experience.
>>

Superdelegates would have been a problem if Hillary didn't win the popular vote against Bernie. Delegates would have flipped to Bernie in large numbers. Berniefags had nothing to whine about regarding how the votes were tallied.
>>
It's a forgettable seven issues sandwiched between two major moments that would piss off comic fans for how stupid they are.

It's not heinous, it's not great, it's just something to be ignored.
>>
>>87640585
But that's fucking stupid.
Imagine a book trying to get back at the jingoism of Golden Age comics by portraying all Americans, regardless of sex or ethnicity, as horrible stereotypes and evil Satanists who must be purged.

What the fuck does that accomplish? It's not entertaining, it's stupidly vindictive, and it isn't really saying anything.
>>
I didnt mind it that much

I actually like an even more morally compromised Bobbi; what i didnt like was how little happens in the last 3-4 issues; which felt mostly like filler until the big reveal.
>>
>>87645906
I actually kind of like the book, reading it as a "Bobbi is an ends>>>means sort of character and a narrative bullshit artist" book and less as FEMINIST ROLE MODEL stuff.
>>
>>87640041
In some cases yes but when it happens as transparently and hacky as it was in Mockingbird people hate it and shit talk it as much as they did when it was male characters. Bad writing is bad writing, some men write women badly and some women write men badly. Some people do both badly at the same time
>>
>>87645906

>I actually like an even more morally compromised Bobbi

Is it really a foot fetish when you're the woman and you just like foot rubs?
>>
>>87638690
unff
>>
>>87640041
Not really. That's the problem with it, it was so painfully obviously trying to flip the table or reverse the roles or whatever, but the problem is that women were never depicted quite that brain-dead as a sex, and especially not in a contemporary society.

It'd be different, too, if there were only one or two idiot males, but it's practically all of them, including the sidekick. It's way too preachy and in-your-face trying to disguise as being witty and progressive. Shit writing.

But in a way your comment exemplifies the attitude in Mockingbird that made it shit; it didn't aim to be good, it aimed to be progressive and reverse the roles first and foremost, and got so preoccupied in being kick-ass pro feminism it forgot that it's also supposed to be amusing, entertaining and good. It got smugly preachy.
>>
>>87635904
wow nice
>>
>>87640041
>Isn't that how female characters have been written for ages?

No. You've fallen for the "all female characters were written like shit in the past" meme Marvel forces in order to make their current shit sound more "progressive".

There were high profile books with better written women 30 years ago

>They also retconned her from being a rape victim who got back at her attacker and continued with her life into a psycho who cheated on her husband and then murdered her lover in cold blood for no real reason and lied that she was raped to cover it up.

It's ironic how these feminist writers actually write very real women, but try to use fiction to paint typical female bullshit in a better light, but it naturally makes it way through and shows the never-ending, cliche'd problems women actually have -- lying, cheating, being emotionally unstable etc.

A backwards admission of guilt.

YOU LEAVE MY WAIFU OUT OF THIS
>>
>>87662159

That's not what I meant by that statement though. I'm talking about how feminists champion female superiority but they write females in a way that shows off all the worst qualities of females and justifies the feelings of misogyny towards them.

Like if I said all women are lying, cheating, manipulative whores who can't take responsibilty for their actions, I'll get called a sexist, misogynist that doesn't know anything at all about women.

But the same woman will write a female protagonist who is literally a lying, cheating, manipulative whore who doesn't take responsibility for her actions. It's just ironic and telling.

I call it "a backwards admission of guilt" because their words won't admit guilt but their actions inadvertently do it.

Some of it was okay.

A lot of it seemed to attempt to 'switch' the roles traditionally held by men and women in superhero comics, circa the 1950s. Quite a bit of sexualization of men. If she had toned that down it would have worked better for me, which, I assume, is precisely what was intended.

It's okay adventure which also tries to palm off nonsense as real-life science (as opposed to comic book science).

So is this intentional satire? Wonder Woman is a really shitty model for a feminist icon. "Fighting Back" against the patriarchy is no big deal when you are healthy, beautiful, well-educated, want for nothing and, oh yeah, can shot-put a tank and are functionally invulnerable.

Not to mention at least part of what went into her creation was fetish fantasy.

I am all for fetish fantasies, but let's keep them separate from serious stuff.
