Lion-O, compared to Tygra, is physically weaker and less agile, though still powerful compared to most species. He relies on technology after the fall of the kingdom to match up against his brother, and encourages his allies to adopt it as well. Him learning to use the Sword of Omens and embrace his heritage (which outright failed against the super-tech of Mumm-Ra) is a personal struggle. He resents his dad a bit, and that ties into it too.

Tygra, being a tiger, is high-tier in physicality, and is able to keep up with the even stronger Panthro, mystical Cheetarah and tech-based Lion-O by focusing on ambushes and traps when he needs to even the odds against a threat. Eventually Lion-O gets him to embrace some stealth-tech and that's a moment where they come a bit closer together, as a parallel to Lion-O accepting the sword/his father's legacy.

AGE MATTERS

Make Tygra and Cheetara a little older than everyone but not as old as Panthro. Make them very disciplined, practical people. He's into military stuff, maybe he was studying to be a general in the empire's army or a ranger-scout leader (would explain the invisibility whip). She's a warrior monk.

Lion-O would be Tygra's kid brother basically, and to contrast with his practicality he's a big dreamer. He's curious about old technology. He thinks cats and lizards can live in peace together. He's the first to suggest they spare enemies instead of kill them. He's physically smaller than Tygra and weaker.

Tygra will also seem like less of a dick if instead of being jealous of Lion-O being king when he was technically the first one born he's simply concerned that Lion-O is way in over his head.

Make Tygra Leonardo. Make Lion-O Donatello. The twist being that the sword wants Lion-O to lead because it recognizes that they're entering an age of change for the empire, not an age of conservatism and stability.

THE KITS

Aging them up to teens would do a lot for the show. You can still have them the youngest of the group and you can still have them be siblings, you can still have them be their "own" unit. But it would make them handier in fights, and if we're going by the "slowly rebuilds the empire to fight back against Mum-Ra" idea for the show then it would explain why they don't leave the kits behind in the Nu-capital when they go off on adventures and raids.

Lion-O being the little brother used to following his big brother's lead would help him connect to Wilykit being the little sister that usually follows her big brother's lead. We could also expand on the "spiritual" side of Wilykit they touched on with her music and the elephant guys.

They're both dreamers. Wilykit with magic and Lion-O with technology. Maybe she could almost be Lion-O's Jagga figure, or she could channel his spirit and the spirit of the Sword of Omens so Lion-O can communicate to them?

Maybe she could even learn some low-level magic skills? Stuff like causing smoke and illusions to compliment her and her brother's trickster theme?

How far should we take Wilykit being Lion-O's "high priestess"? Should it be full on Lion-Jesus and Mary Magdelene?
