fuck yeah! DHL finally came around delivering my IST order. On the one hand I am happy I didn't have to pick it up from customs and therefor didn't have to pay an extra €30, but on the other hand this just got unceremoniously dumped on my doorstep WITHOUT FUCKING TELLING ME!
I was there the whole time, I didn't listen to music or anything so if the deliveryman had actually rang I would have noticed, but he hadn't.
So it was just lying on my doorstep for everyone to just pick up. If my brother hadn't by chance visited me it could (and probably would) have been stolen.

Sorry for Trump, but had to hide my adress data

I guess this is the most appropriate thread to ask. I've been out of comics for like a year and half since I moved and there are no comic shops nearby anyone got suggestions on the best place to order online? Particularly with a good selection of back issues? There's a few comics I'd like to order everything that came out between now and then. (Zero, east of west and saga for sure, maybe paper girls if it ended up being any good).

alternatively cheapgraphicnovels.com for US-buyers. They have a slightly different stock but are pretty much the same (they both belong to diamond comics or whatever)

>>87644593
if you're from europe, take a look at cheap-comics.com
depending in the country you live in, the only cock-block will be their shipping costs, but even that is reasonable since most of their prices (aside of the big books like absolutes and omnis, which are normally priced) are pretty cheap.

my chronicles of kull vol 1 I bought last months started falling apart almost as soon as I opened it. Should I try reglueing in the pages or should I just have this series made into custom omni's?
>>

Ghost Rider 2099 and X-Men 2099 collections would be great. And at least Warren Ellis' Doom 2099 run. Ravage can stay gone, though.

wouldn't that be more expensive than buying a new one?
>>

I've read the around the first 12 issues or so of it from scans. The writing is a little cheesy at times, which is typical of that era, but otherwise I really liked it

>>

>>
>>87652463
I don't think so. At least not 4%.

It's interesting: after I place an order on IST, I get an additional 2% off for 8 days or so after that order was placed. And only recently have I noticed that it has become 3%, but only for a day or two at the end of the 8-day period. Maybe. I'm not sure. It's awesome, but I would love that 3 to become 4%.
>>
>>87652769
Here's an e-mail I received from IST:
>Since you have placed an order with us within the last 14 days you qualify to receive a 3% loyalty discount* on Friday and Saturday, November 11-12! This two-day only discount is available on all items! Once you login to the website, the extra discount will be shown on each website item automatically.

I think it's just a special sale.

Hey, all. I was on Amazon the other day and realized how crazy pricey some books have become when it goes out of print. For instance, Absolute Blackest Night is something $350-400+ on the 'zon and ebay. But then I saw it at one of my local comic book stores for list price. No mark-up. The store obviously doesn't know what it has. I would buy the book and try to resell it for some profit, but I have a better idea. What if someone on these shelf threads were interested b/c they are actually wanted to own it? I could help a comrade out by informing them of where to get it for non-OOP rates. Anyone out there interested in that book for themselves?

I've got a few OOP books I'd like for cover if anyone knows of one of their LCS's having them. Is anyone else interested in helping each other out like this just on these threads?

>>87652874

When books that retail for $60-100 get up to the $400+ range on the secondary market, shouldn't that be a sign to the publisher that there's enough demand for another print run?

>>
>>87656269
It's not connected to the show.
Well, it IS since the first story is written by one of the main showrunners who was mentored under Adams (adapted the original novel as a play in High School which he wrote, directed, and led in; only to have Adams attend opening night.)
And the comic might take place in a parallel universe to the show and the books, in the same way Space Dandy is the same in all realities.

Anyway, you don't need to know the books/show to enjoy it, but you'll like it more if you like the source material/feel of Douglas Adams plots.

I am really loving the show though.

if you look closely, these shelves don't actually have a backwall. so if there's enough room (most rooms have a cover strip at the bottom between the wall and the floor which prevents you to push the shelf fully onto the wall anyway) you can push them further in.
the shelf itself is about 39cm/15″ deep

I much prefer TPBs to floppies, but its kind of incredible that my small town got a comic shop in the first place, so I don't want to waste it.

>>
>>87674169
Well, mine arrives on Tuesday, but here's the IST description:
>Kung-fu fever had struck the United States! Hot on the heels of the breakout hit MASTER OF KUNG FU, Marvel launched the amazing oversized DEADLY HANDS OF KUNG FU magazine - headlined by Shang-Chi, Iron Fist and the Sons of the Tiger! Artists including Rudy Nebres, George P?rez, Jim Starlin and Paul Gulacy gave DEADLY HANDS their all. With stunning painted covers by the likes of Neal Adams, issues of DEADLY HANDS featured not just the comic-art adventures of Marvel's greatest kung-fu heroes - but also extensive interviews; martial-arts guides; photo features; and movie, TV and book reviews! Whatever you wanted to know about martial arts, DEADLY HANDS had a kung-fu grip on it!

So I'd say yeah, it has them.

I'm happy I managed to find vol. 3 in a comic shop last year, got it for the cover price.
Not as much luck with vol. 4, finally I bought one for almost twice the cover price... and then found it in a different comic store a few months later.

stuff like that pisses me off to no end. it's the same with DC, they'e changed their logo 3 times since 2010 and with series that take longer to collect you have 3 different logos on the spines. don't they think about people with OCD?
And look at this (can't find a bigger pic), volume six of LoSH Archive triggers me beyond belief. all archive spines look the same except for this one. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

from a pure page-per-currency-unit value point of view, non-big-2 books are definitely better. prices for DarkHorse or Image books are so fucking low, it's ridiculous.

the rest is a rollercoaster ride. some books are bound great while some are absolute shit, there is hardly any recognizable system with that.
from personal experience I can say though that DC Archive Editions are insanely well done. 90% of the Deluxe Editions as well. Showcases (the black and white books) are sturdy, and I imagine it's the same with their Marvel equivalent since you can't really do anything wrong with phonebook sized books on cheap paper.
TPBs are a rollercoaster though. Most of them seem sturdy, but some are done horribly. one of my Legion books had its text-block literally fall out of its cover during first reading because it wasn't properly glued.
The pages of big books like Omnis tend to sink down after a while if you store them standing (like everyone does).
Image comics are a special rollercoaster because the creator decides how the books are printed, which format, which paper etc so you can't really say beforehand what to expect.
>>
I'm going to a comic book tomorrow. Gonna pick up some Jem and the Holograms, Archie, Afterlife with Archie, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Josie and the Pussycats. Maybe some random other comics too.
>>
>>87689765
I'm compiling a complete reading order right now, it's sloggy work though since it's so fucking much.

Go through the showcases (1-5), then you're fine. they pretty much equal the archives 1-12, archive 13 collects issues which aren't in the showcase but come directly after that. if you want that digitally, archive 1, 2 and 9-13 are scanned in minutemen quality someone ripped his archive editions apart to do that. F. after that read Superboy starring The Legion of Super-Heroes (changes name to "Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes" later and then switches completely to "Legion of Super-Heroes v2), the latter part of which is collected as "The Great Darkness Saga" and "The Curse" deluxe editions. after that Legion of Super-Heroes: Eye for an Eye and The More Things Change" etc etc. I will get a proper list up in a few days, but that should keep you focused for a few months I guess.

dunno about Elongated Man, but there's 1 Adam Strange Showcase and 3 Archives. the archives compile a bit more than the showcase alone does.
problem is there isn't really an order I've found so far. there are huge gabs in the 70s and 80s where he simply isn't used at all.
you might want to take a look at Moore's early Swamp Thing because he remodels him a bit into his modern form.
After that, Cosmic Odyssey (which is going to be collected in a Deluxe Edition next year), then the 3 issue Adam Strange book by Richard Bruning from 1990, JLA 20 and 21 by Morrison, he occasionally shows up in Starman, then there's a Green Lantern/Adam Strange crossover book from 2000.
Adam Strange has generally been pretty obscure sadly, but he's got a big comeback around Infinite Crisis, where he had a bit of spotlight. The Build-up of Infinite Crisis had an Adam Strange mini called "Planet Heist", which is incredibly well written and one of my favorite comics because it briefly puts the reader in the position that Strange may actually just have imagined all that shit and belongs in a looney house.
Next is the Rann-Thanagar War mini and the IC special of it, Infinite Crisis itself and then 52 where he is one of the protagonists in the Space-stranded storyline.
Next it's Countdown to Adventure (might skip it though since it belongs to the Countdown to Final Crisis stuff, which was generally horrible).
Then there's Rann/Thanagar Holy war in 2008, the 2009 Strange Adventures mini plus Wednesday Comics, R.E.B.E.L.S. (he starts showing up from issue 9 onwards, since R.E.B.E.L.S. move to Rann).
That's basically it as far as I can tell.
New52 Adam Strange doesn't have the Rann background any more, he's just a Space Explorer or some shit, which is pretty sad. He shows up in Justice League United.

Rebirth goes back to the Rann-related stuff again, thankfully, which you can read in Death of Hawkman.

-Tokyo Ghost, its decent and the art by Murphy is awesome its a 10 issue series so 2 tpb's overall
-Kill or Be Killed, Brubaker and philips crime story, its on issue 4
-The Fix, Spencer and Lieber from Superior foes doing a book about two degenerates and a stupid beagle, kinda. Really funny and dialogue driven... its on issue 6 and the first tpb just came out.

>Dragon Ball Full Color

I'm so hyped for this release, I was against getting it since I have the original releases, but then I found out they were too lazy to censor it or replace the Japanese sound effects, it's waaaay bigger than the Japanese Full Color release, AND it has the 2004 kanzenban ending, so it'll be the first time that ending appears in English!

I'm wondering if they're retranslating the entirety of the Majin Boo arc, because otherwise they'll release it as "DRAGON BALL FULL COLOR Djinn Boo Arc" with all the shitty name changes, like Hercule and Vegerot, still there. Plus like I said, they have to translate the "new" ending. Hopefully that's the reason they're taking their time releasing it.

I'm still waiting for the first couple volumes in the mail.

This came today/last week. Delivery/packaging is seriously starting to piss me off. I WROTE them way before they sent it to please use proper packaging and padding. I OFFERED THEM EXTRA-MONEY to make sure it was done properly. They said "yeah of course we always do that, no sweat". But what happens? Each of these books arrived solo in one of these envelope-type packages. No padding, no nothing, one wrong move by the postman and they would have been damaged and the replacement caroussel would have started again.
This time it went all right, but holy shit man, it's always a risk.

my last order from bookdepository got fucking destroyed by my mailman. luckily, it was a free replacement order for a book that took too long to arrive. that one was alright, even if it did take forever.

next time I order from them, I want to ask them to only mail the items all together in one package so that there is no chance the mail man crams the fucking envelope into the mailbox.

I could strangle the guy.
>>
>>87704020
yeah that mailing-solo shit is annoying as fuck. I guess it's way cheaper for them to mail every item you order alone but still.
and funny you mention bookdepository. that was actually from another UK seller after I had a bad experience with bookdepository and they do the exact same.
most of the time I try to catch the mailman before he even puts the envelope into my mailbox so at least that won't happen. but what can you do if it's gotten damaged on the way?
maybe I should buy a bigger mailbox...

Marvel has been putting out reprints of the classic horror stuff ever October. At this point they've done full collections of Were-Wolf By Night, Monster of Frankenstein, Son of Satan, and Man-Thing. So one would think that Tomb of Dracula is next on the list
>>

Hahaha, that's the cheapest Marvel omni i've ever seen.

Yesterday I got
Nick Fury: My War Gone By hardcover (loved the way it showed the passage of time)
Hellblazer 5 (the Delano stuff was kind of hit-and-miss as usual but the first Ennis arc really is worth all the praise it gets)
Sandman 1 (really feels like Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run 2.0)
and Sandman 2 (now this is some good shit right here)

I've still got Sandman 3 and 4 coming, should've come yesterday with the rest so it'll be today then.

Got the following at my LCS this week:
>Cannibal #2
I'm enjoying this one quite a lot, quite a slow burner but the atmosphere is alright, I'm hoping it goes some interesting places.
>Rumble #11-15
I'm still behind on Rumble but I do like the series, artwork is pretty good but it's a little boring at times, reminds me of some early Spawn though.
>Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #8
I'm still on Sinestro's Law as I like reading some arcs when they are finished but I am liking this series quite a lot, good art work too.
>Aqua Man #10
I should be tired from political intrigue but I've been liking this run so far, very interested where Black Manta's storyline takes him.
>The Walking Dead #160
I've liked The Whisperer War so far and the entire Whisperers arc but I just wish Kirkman would move on already from it, I've liked the pacing and creepiness value of The Whisperers but a lot of post A New Beginning issues up to the current feels like filler. Hoping the storyline with the Ohio radio community goes some interesting places.

>>87743831
>>87743838
Cool shit /co/mrade.
>>
>>87743944
At least one person on /co/ has it n their shelves.
It's only Complete Eightball issues #1-18. Issues #19-21 are collected as David Boring, #22 as Ice Haven and #23 as The Death-Ray. IIRC Clowes wants them to stand on their own plus Pantheon and D&Q currently publishes them.
>>
>>87743284
I have it, it's fucking great.
better pick up those complete Punisher MAX editions though. vol 3 was just released and vol 4 comes out in late december. you should end it there because that's where Ennis' run ends.
volume 4 collects all related minis and one-shots by Ennis so you might wait until after christmas then (besides, the Barracuda TPB is OOP and sold out for years anyway). except for Fury MAX, you'd have to get that one separately.

>>

>daredevil tv series
Punisher is getting his own Netflix show so if he's appearing anywhere, it'll be there.

Pretty sure it has more to do people just not caring about eightball in these threads, it looks very well made but I do not like the series outside of velvet glove and a few of the shorts clowes did in it
>>
yo guys, anyone has the hellboy weird tales hardcover? is it worth to have?
>>
>>87744589
that's what I meant. but as long as barracuda doesn't show up there I doubt they'll ever reprint the mini since it's going to be in the complete collection.
>>
>>87743944
Aside from the fact that it's not technically complete it's pretty much perfect. Like they match the paper quality of the original issues so you can tell when Clowes got enough pull to have the series printed on glossy paper.

I think it's my favorite collected edition just for touches like that.

From what I've read it's pretty good. Gorgeous art that could spend more time on inking because there was no coloring. It was great reading Moench talking about how he has no recollection of writing much of what he did..
As for the articles, having never seen any live action Kung-Fu from the time, it's a bit hard to follow, but it's cool reading about something they were so passionate about.

He doesn't mention anything about that, but seeing as how his intros to the Shang-Chi Omnis are much more in depth, I imagine it's just that he was putting less effort into it. Still, he was a long haired guy from the 70's.
Another thing of note was that Marvel released issues with half the content twice as fast in the UK, and since MOKF was a new series they had to work twice as fast for a while to have a bit of leeway.
