Seriously I don't get this "Toffee is Eclipsa's descendant" bullshit.
Looking at E's demon lover boy, it looks like their offspring would resemble Tom what with the smaller size, three eyes, horns, markings etc, same sharp nose and whatnot - whereas Toffee is just a full-on lizard or a crocodile monster, not a half-mewnian at all. Seeing how he's sporting mewnian skull shoulder pads it really doesn't look like he's trying to pull a legit contender for the throne thing either, trying to claim his birthright as a descendant of the queen.

Seeing how Eclipsa is portrayed in the Grandma room as a part of the official lineage continuation, and she was married to a mewni man for a while, I'd assume Moon is her legit daughter. However it'd be really interesting if it turned out that Star has a half aunt or uncle who's a half demon somewhere.

I got what the intention of the Pizza episode was but it just felt kinda awkward and rushed. It seemed like Marco made up with Pony for no reason. I mean the kid's monologue was very Disney-esque and heartfelt or whatever but that as an excuse to make friends with Pony was kinda... weak. It's okay though not as shit as some other episodes. We got to see one of my personal favourite background characters Wolf Dude once again.

Here's my ranking of my disliked episodes from 'meh it's ok' to 'it's pure shit'.

So Eclipsa is somehow important to the monster rebellion, and we'll see more of her, sure. She seems like a cool character so that's grand.

But I think it's just wayyyy too big a stretch to jump into "they're related". Especially seeing how Toffee was sporting what looked like Eclipsa's skull as shoulderpads while trying to attack Eclipsa's daughter Moon. Eclipsa is apparently the only Butterfly royal woman to skip off to screw monsters, so for Toffee to be a relation of hers would mean descendant, which just isn't likely at all.

However it may turn out they had something to do with each other, maybe Toffee was her aide or apprentice or servant or whatever who turned rebellious. But son - nah.

The thing that gets me is that he 'made up' with PH at least four times before that and it never stuck. Nor did she ever admit to any mistake on her part.

Hell, that's probably one of my main issues with that character in general.

The writers C-O-N-S-T-A-N-T-L-Y try to push the narrative that PH didn't do anything wrong, that Marco is being unreasonable and that their enmity is entirely his fault alone when all of PH's actions say the exact opposite.

Marco gets along with basically everyone if they extend an olive branch, but PH never did and we're meant to believe the fault lies with him.


It's bad writing, bad directing and uncalled for favouritism towards an all-around bad character.

Also, Toffee's clearly older than Moon on the tapestry. However, Eclipsa was married to the mewnian king and produced the legitimate heir to the throne first before running off to follow her heart. So if Toffee would be Eclipsa's son with the demon lover she seems to have later married, he'd have to be YOUNGER than Moon, which very fucking clearly isn't the case.

It's just nonsensical for him to be her son. Again, no doubt they're somehow intertwined, there's heavy hints towards that, but son? Nah.

Star's grandmother fled the kingdom with a monster.

The next generation, we see Moon fighting a monster revolt, using her wand. Obviously there is some sort of drama that went into Moon getting the wand back. We don't know the exact nature of the drama though.

The show goes out of it's way to sympathize with, and show various sides of, the monsters. It also paints the Mewnians as militaristic and very ruthless, while also showing that monsters (or at least Lizards) have political systems of their own. Pic related.

My theory is that Eclipsa got embedded into the monster political system, and the way that Mewni went about getting the wand back pissed them off and started a war. Bet Eclipsa's lover was friends with Toffee, too. Big players tend to know of other big players, and him eloping with the queen in charge of a cosmically-fueled wand made him a big player, if he wasn't already.

Because she's somehow involved with the rebellion and Toffee's uprising. Maybe her spending time with the wand in the Underworld or among the monsters with lover boy led to Toffee learning about the wand and the Butterflie's magic powers and how it all works which emboldened him to revolt.

Definitely Eclipsa is somehow tied to it all - she abandoned her royal duties and fled Mewni and abandoned her family and husband in order to cavort about with a lover who's of the species that's their sworn enemy. After her, her daughter Moon had to quell a pretty serious-looking monster rebellion with serious business spells, it was so bad she earned the name "Undaunted", so the rebellion was pretty damn daunting. However she had her wand back at that time. She's shown battling the enemy leader (?) Toffee who's wearing mewnian skulls with the markings of Moon and her Mother Eclipsa on their cheeks as his spauldrons.

It's all very interesting, and again clearly Eclipsa eclipsed something (hue), put big wheels in motion, is entangled in it all - but it doesn't mean that hurrrrrr she must be Toffee's mom. You can be involved in things without having given birth to someone also involved.

I doubt the moon plays a part in the possible symbolism, it just sets the scene of the murals. As for the borders of the painting, I imagine those frames were put up by Queen Butterfly, though I can't support that with any direct evidence, it would seem like the type of typical royalty type activity she'd indulge. Add on to that Star's familiarity with the room and it makes sense that Queen Butterfly had some form of interaction with the place during Star's upbringing.

However, seeing how Moon's mum was an ally to the monster, the first Mewnian to ever side with the monsters in their war, I doubt someone as intelligent as Toffee would disregard such an alliance simply to send a message. If you want my personal opinion, Moon's mother was deemed a traitor after joining the monsters, and worst of all, she had taken her wand with her. However, we see Moon using it against Toffee, so at one point the Mewnians must have taken it back. My theory is that the Mewnians managed to get the drop on the Dark Queen, killed her and regained the wand. After such a heavy loss, Toffee started wearing her skull on his armor as a reminder to the Mewnians of the Queen they had murdered.

I do want to know what went down with Eclipsa, where did Toffee learn all this stuff about the wand and how the Mewnians got the wand back. I just absolutely don't believe that Toffee would be Eclipsa's son. Perhaps he pretended to be her ally and confidante while she lived among the monsters, pumped her for information about Butterfly magic and then murdered her, in retribution for the centuries (?) of oppression? Anyhow, there's a lot of potential for awesomeness

In any case, all of this just shows that trying to make "Toffee is Eclipsa's son" work requires believing a lot of stuff that contradicts what's seen, doesn't make sense and isn't logical. It also requires coming up with a whole lot of weird explanations from "the crew changed their minds but didn't change the visuals" to "well he regenerates and is immortal, meaning he grows old super fast" and "it's magic, so it can look like it makes no sense".

Meanwhile Toffee not being Eclipsa's son makes perfect sense with what we've seen, because his involvement in it all could be easily explained in lots of interesting ways that are not "he's Moon's half-brother".

I did not mean that he´s wearing it as a reminder for himself; it´s pure psychological warfare. One skull of the royalty I killed, another skull for the royalty you killed.

But when some people love it and some people hate it, you can be sure that debate will stay there for a while. Same goes for theories.

Also Toffee could be the smartest monster we've encountered because he's been stated to be immortal, which would mean he's had a lot of time to learn. You become smart by learning things, you don't inherit good manners and historical / magical knowledge in your genes. He could have well just spent time around Eclipsa while she lived among the monsters with her lover.

I maintain that Toffee being Moon's half-sibling is ridiculous, and it doesn't have "hints" to back it up nor does it have any viable theories, either. Every single theory I've seen is full of holes and really contrived "with magic, it theoretically could happen even though it doesn't seem to make any sense" tier bullshit. Meanwhile the option of "not related but Toffee and Eclipsa are otherwise somehow connected" just makes much much more sense.

It's very strongly indicated that Eclipsa is Moon's mother. First of all she's in the "Grandma" room, meaning she has a place in the royal lineage leading to the current ruler.

From different shots we can see that the tapestries of Celena, Solaria, Eclipsa and Moon are all next to each other in that order, which is also the order in which Star goes through them. It gives the strong narrative vibe that she's going through history, approaching present day - and the point where Toffee's finger detaches from the tapestry of her mom and materialises in the present.

She starts from her great-great-grandma Celena, then progresses through great-grandma Solaria, grandma Eclipsa and finally mom Moon. We also see Star's own tapestry just being made in a corner, not properly hung up yet. It all ties in to give a solid impression.

(Interestingly in the flag game ep Moon's aunt is named Etheria, which also would fit nicely with her sister being Eclipsa.)
