He got tired of putting up with her tsundere shit. The fact that she started to act better before she tried to kill herself doesn't really mean much when the whole point of Tess as a character was that people still remember the bullying you did. It didn't help that his friends constantly took lucy's side, even telling him to dump sandy for lucy because it was a long distance relationship. The love confession didn't mean shit to him because the moment he rejected her, she started hanging on to Paulo, so that basically canceled that out in his mind.

Well, since no reader showed up, I'll make a guess and say that this will probably start with stereotypical characters and dumb protagonist or secondary characters decisions, and get better later, as in characters getting actual personality and developing accordingly.
It kinda happened to me with TwoKinds, as the beginning was shit and the later chapters got good, so hopefully it'll happen here too.
If you enjoy drama read a few chapters and see if it suits you, and if it doesn't you can just forget about it.
The pages some anons posted show the autor has some knowledge about dramatic relationships and can write something more than 'y evry1 hates me'. Personally I'll give it a shot, since it looks like something I would enjoy.

Actually, I'm enjoying it more than I expected, its rough humor is something I'm not used to, but enjoy. And characters aren't emo shit at all, contrary to what I was expetcing.
And TwoKinds is a completely different thing. The writing is better, but the beginning was shit, man. Like, characters were uninteresting and the main love relationship was built too fast and the build-up was short for it, so it lacked impact. She was the main reason I've even been still reading it since I picked it up years ago, long after she was written out.

There's some kind of Bojack Horseman quality to it where the main lead has been such an asshole for so long that everyone's accepted that's just "how she is" and any deviation from that is just kind of shrugged off.

The difference with Lucy is that she kind of "wakes up" part way through and realizes how damaging she's being to the people she loves, but is scared shitless of what will happen if she takes down that barrier. Plus, the fact that even from her perspective you can't tell if what she's feeling IS love or of it's some kinda of emotional dependence.

I'm always a sucker for characters who have to hit rock bottom before they can go nowhere but up.

Believe me, I pondered this long and hard with friends of mine and my conclusion is this comics success does not lay in endearing characters or good writing, both are either cliché or Mexican drama tier. The real catch in this story is In either identification or wishful thinking. I will admit, much to my chagrin, I identify with Lucy to a degree (Same name, go figure), and I started reading this shit back when I was 14. Since then I have matured and chilled out tremendously but I still followed the series every now and then just to see what the merry band of retards where up too. While in the case of other people I know, it’s the kind of school life they wished they had: drama, friendship, love triangles adventure and all that shit. She's basically the harbinger of drama. She's the cause of every problem in the comic. And even when she wakes up she still manages to cause even MORE drama and MORE problems until she leaves/disappears
Everything was going "well" and "better" without her ever since, but now that she's returned from her wilderness sabbatical everyone's on edge
It's even worse when this chapter was looking to focus more on two characters (Paulo and Daisy) and give them some more character development but now it's probably going to be just about Lucy (White cat)

Well that's funny. I used to read this back in my younger years (probably the same age) and dropped it back then. Yet recently (five months ago) I decided to reread through it all from the beginning. I don't know why. There's just a very specific charm about it and I think it's what you said: the envy of a school life filled with adventures and all that jazz. The first third of the comic is very bad, with the main characters all being very extreme Mary Sues of the writer and her various ideals of men and friends. Eventually by the time they get to high school their sue-ish traits get played for drama, such as the main character, getting portrayed as always right and lovable despite being a giant bitch, turns out to have been slowly wearing down the other main character's mental health the entire time.

the second third of this series deconstructs the first third. This wasn't intentinaly since the main characters' personalities were established when the authoer was in middle school, and she started to think about the characters again in late high school.

She was my first love, we were both young, and we loved each other in that insane, complete way that you only can in youth

But because we were young, and foolish, we hurt each other, and kept hurting each other until we drifted apart

Once we were apart, I thought that we'd inevitably come back together after some time of healing, but what happened instead was that she grew to despise me. I understand why. Her family and friends never liked me much, and in that environment all her good memories of me slowly faded, and all the memories of the bad times grew.

I haven't talked to her in years now. I had such high hopes for us, things I've never felt for another person. I used to have dreams about us growing old together, raising grandchildren, telling them stories of a life spent together.
