Post those steel donuts.
First 5 posters gets their OC drawn for less than free.
Drew some more Reese yesterday, and forced myself to use a weird head angle, foreshortening, and a "prop," which I don't do enough of.
I doodled some of my donuts in costume for Octoberween but never got past here
Here's my character, Zartch Zantonya Zertuck.
I shared this in the previous thread, but I suppose there's no harm in sharing it twice.
>>87488103
The guy with the amazing/terriblehairdo is named Floyd. He's a recent character I drew from experimenting with different design choices. I suppose he's a villain/anti-hero-esque character considering he's stabbing my hero character in the previous image.
Drew this on Thursday.
Sorta feel like drawing more stuff for this setting again.
Had some struggles with the bent leg of the warrior on the right. That sort of perspective stuff still fucks me over as I have hard time gauging how to draw limbs in such positions.'
>>87487581
I love this onion child
Nice OCs you guys have so far. Some really interesting stuff.
>>87488869
JESUS THAT IS ADORABLE.
Thank you so much, Nark!
First time posting here with actual content.
Two characters for a webcomic I have planed. It's about a group of animals that travel through space with a spaceship and experience all kinds of adventures.
These girls are part of the crew. I'm not completly sure what their personalities are like yet, but Gwen is a cheerful snail and Sunny is a grumpy bee. And they don't get along with eachother.
>>87487581
I've seen your stuff here a lot, you have some great ocs. I like them.
>>87488242
I like this weird, messy style but I can barely tell what's going on in the comic.
>>87489791
Thanks! And you're not the first to bring that up, lol. I really need to hold back how much detail I throw into a panel. Someone once compared it to the 80s Conan comics where there's a clusterfuck of details on a single page.
Here's an example of a more simple strip though.
>>87486909
My ultimate OC
>>87489985
Yeah that looks better.
So what is that all about? Seems to be rather edgy stuff.
some great OCs so far, fresh off the presses
>>87490627
It's a shame I love drawing so much detail, lol. I think I need to simplify my backgrounds for future strips so they're as easy to look over as that above comic.
>So what is that all about? Seems to be rather edgy stuff.
Well... I've been drawing this edgy stuff since high school (blips of it here and there in middle school), and I have a lot of fun drawing macabre and horror-esque creatures and environments. A lot of it came from the manga I grew up reading: Death Note, D.Gray-Man, Hellsing, and a few years ago, Berserk. Throw in some Forgotten Realms for world building and religious mythology, and you've got this weird stuff.
The short comic's just a one-off I did for an /X/ request.
The first comic, though, takes place in a bigger series I'm working on called "FaustFall". Take your atypical dark fantasy environment with Faustian pacts, body horror, and tragic characters, and you have something like this.Plus more of that great clusterfuck of details. Yeah, I really need to remedy that, haha.
>>87490961
That's cool. Has a lot of potential. Good luck with your comics!
>>87490813
the boys
>>87489686
kis im glad you like it
Gonna dump a couple of side characters I've made over the past couple of months
Here is a group of co-workers at a night bar. The shades are part of the uniform.
>>87492031
Those are big shades
>>87492031
Here is a tree or something. Never actually decided if it should be a boy or a girl. It could honestly be either with how I designed it
>>87492126
Skeleton. There is never a bad situation to have a skeleton character
>>87491233
Thank you very much, anon! I already made the first issue last summer and am currently (slowly) working on the second one. I hope to have five issues done before I graduate from college in Fall 2017.
>>87492171
Edgy, but also cute character
This one is one of my favorites.
>>87492247
Not much of a side character, but here is one of my favorite villains. I can't wait to be able to use his character
Dump over. I have many more fuckers, but these are all the ones I'm willing to post at the moment.
I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with ideas today. I want to draw but nothing in particular seems to come to mind.
>>87492466
Hey you're working on this story with the abandoned mmorpg, right? How's the progress?
>>87492788
!!!
Holy cow thank you so much this is adorable <3
>>87486909
Gift sketch i got from a friend.
>>87492811
Woah, this looks pretty rad! Thanks a lot, mang!
This is one of my main characters for a game that I'm designing. His name is Elem Age and has the characteristics of the elements that give him his powers and strengths.
>>87493297
I'm surprised someone actually remembered me
It's going good actually. The prologue is more than halfway done after a good couple of months, and I'll probably be able to post it here before this year ends.
>>87493609
I'm the same anon who asked you some questions about your work in an older thread, like 1-2 weeks ago I think. I'm genuinely interested so of course I remembered.
>>87487581

>>87493556
Some moves for Elem.
>>87495064
The punching one looks a little stiff (maybe make one of his legs come up or have him lean more) but everything else looks pretty good.
>>87489985
>>87490961
>>87492210
Damn I really love the way you ink your stuff.
to keep this thread alive, i did a little thing for these alien creatures
>>87495064
seeing a big rayman influence here, i really like this
Sketched something up for this thread.
Contrary to popular belief, Heaven is not a kingdom. It's run more like a Fortune 500 company.
Edgar, the Accounting Angel.
>>87495692
Aww, thank ya anon.
I'm hoping to get some Rotring isograph technical pens later this month, so I can experiment with something more precise. Still, brush and nib is very useful at filling the page. I also manipulate the levels in Photoshop to make my lines that dark.
>>87490813
>>87491246
Very simple but cute. Nice coloring and colors technique you used for the second one.
>>87495757
This one reminds me a lot of Kirby. Looks cool.
>>87495196
Thanks. This was from 2014, so I ought to redraw them again. Would make good practice.
>>87495757
And yep. Rayman Origins/Legends was a huge influence for this game I'm working one. Thanks for noticing.
And this is the 2nd playable character. His name is Jeens P. Shorts He's a space cadet who crash landed onto Elem's world looking for an intergalactic criminal. Jeens failed to find them, but has been best friends with Elem and Eli (who I've yet to shown on this thread) ever since. Jeens defends and attacks with his trusty ray gun which uses Plutozium as its ammo.
>>87486909
The nameless hero and the two main prostitutes from my upcoming hentai game.
Many things are a working in progress, like the game name itself. My big worry are all the backgrounds - they´re all 3D, to make things go faster, but i´m sure no one´s going to care about that stuff.
thanks communism
>>87496392
Those two are actually important. I have to measure a lot the amount of girls who are to show up, because mostly will have battle sprites, dialogue pictures and screen characters, not to mention H scenes. And all are above 18.
>>87496591
last one ill post: The godess and her crazy entourage. Modelling her temple is being quite a challenge, but i´ll only upload the playable demo after the entire setting of the game plus main characters are on it.

>>87496832
Nice development so far.
And another old piece from me. Jeens' moveset. Really need to redraw these.
>>87497108
I really love how cartoony your style is. When you redraw these I would definitely keep the crawling while holding his gun in his mouth maybe to try to add more little details like that.
I doodled my nerds in matching dresses for a warm up thing.
Oh, it's this kind of OC thread... I thought there where gonna be recolored sonics and stuff
>>87498255
Thanks! I'm definitely keeping these gags, might add some new ones to them as well.
Loving your OCs as well. Got a little cute horror vibe to your stuff, I like it!
And the last playable character is Eli Cielo. Before meeting Elem and Jeens, she was a dropout of Guardian Angel Academy. She was shamed by countless of her peers until she went on her first adventure with Elem and Jeens that saved the world. They academy wanted her back, but she declined seeing as she'd rather be with her friends. Eli attacks with her special explosives, Holy Boom Bombs. She can change their appearance to lure in enemies. She also has the ability to glide with her wings.
>>87500390
I gotcha covered bruh.I've come a long way since 2005.
>>87500390
Nah, never did make one of those OCs.
Eli's moveset from 2 years back. Gonna redraw all 3 sometime again.
>>87500937
>>87500511
Nice looking forward to them! And thank you to that's exactly what I'm aiming for. I like how you've got your characters fleshed out to I really need to get around to that.
>>87500649
It's beautiful. Seriously though that's impressive compared to what you've posted.
>>87501121
Heh, I do tend to daydream a lot.
You're welcome. Keep up the good work.
Doing a bit of storyboard practice with my kid character (Jay) and her villain friend (Adrian) she's trying to rehabilitate. I like to think of Adrian as her reverse Jiminy Cricket.
>>87504938
Neat work right here. And you got a pretty good concept, interested to hear more.
Agent Ali G. Ent, or Agent Ent for short, is one of the many rivals that try to hinder the Hero Trio's progress. She has a deep hatred for Elem for it was him that stole her chance into becoming the Elemental Hero of the World (which was on pure accident) and has since been trying to prove that she can be the best hero in the world. But for now, she's the top agent of the not-so-secret secret agency, the WWSA.
>>87490163
looks like someone from the nutshack
>>87501121
Thanks, I appreciate it!
In other news, I inked up this image featuring one of my side characters, Rosalia the Rose. This is her prior to her death, surrounded by symbolism related to it.
>>87508566
And here's her post-death.
>>87508597
Luckily, she's not just a mummified corpse. Even worse - she's a tormented spirit!

Sweet work dude. Digging your work so far, love the horror art you have drawn.
>>87489791
Cute characters you got. You have anymore?
>>87508885
Many thanks, Brad! I have a liking for the inside-out look, especially when I get the chance to draw a monster girl, lol.
Just finished the basic character sheet for the narrator of some animations I'm doing. Now I just have to work more on my voice acting, if only there were more threads for that.
>>87509408
Also did an image of an OC a friend of mine made. Getting used to the tablet I just got is weird but I think I'm getting the hang of it.
>>87497108
Thanks. I was worried that the excessive manga influence would bother /co/, but it seems that westerns can´t hide their westerness on their own works.

>>87510885
Yep, can totally understand. Influences tend to do that, heh.
Here's a preview of what I had before my program didn't save my work.
>>87508885

The only other things I could show off right now are some older doodles on paper. Pic related is another main character. He's a shark in a special spacesuit that allows him to go pretty much anywhere.

>>87514556
Oh, I didn't even see your post. Thanks! I do use Clip Studio (which also goes by Manga Studio). I've been having it since last year, but this year is when I really started using it. It has to be more main program to draw.

>>87493899
This too, is adorable. Thank you!

>>87520169
Got a whole row of enemies right here. Can I get some opinions on them?
I only have access to older stuff on this pc, but i can dump some of the robots i have drawn in the past. I don't usually create a whole setting or backstory for them, i just like to try out new designs as they come to me.
This one was tought as a gate guardian or otherwise meaningless npc in a steampunk game setting.
Another version of the above npc, like the pose, but i preffered the earlier version's staff better.
This one is more of a power armor suit than a robot, but whatever. A fire-themed combat suit that i wanted to look bulky and resilient. Also good practice with less round shapes.
And finally, at least for new, is a design a came up with when i starting thinking about how would a robot designed around ramming things look like.
I know my stuff is more designs that characters, and im not sure if they belong in these kind of threads, but it is what I tend to make in my idle time, and I hope some of you enjoy them.
Considering retconning the one on the right being a sort of sound-based hero alter-ego of the left.
>>87488468
What's the story behind the giant blob and the solider
Just finished a gif with Tallow!
>>87522483

Name's Ky. It's late as hell and in too lazy to type out a full description, but in short he's an aimless delinquent with mommy issues and has 1/20th of werewolf blood in him.
Inked up some more side characters from my comic.
This time I have Mary and Joseph, a pair of smirking fractal twins who love to finish each others' sentences and tease their playmates with cryptic chitchat.
Here's Mary, the outgoing one.

Joseph, the more mellow one who's protective of his twin sister.
>>87532346

Name: Lizcent Lakura Luxbux
Occupation: Middle School Student
Likes: Beauty, Fashion, Being the Best
Description: A girl that has known Zartch ever since the 1st grade. While Lizcent finds Zartch highly annoying, Zartch considers her to be one of his closest friends and sees her annoyed feelings as a fierce rivalry. Of course Lizcent can't resist a challenge and goes along with Zartch's antics. The only reason why she constantly hangs out with Zartch and the rest of his gang is because she can't make any other friends, so Zartch welcomes her with open arms.

Before anyone loses their shit, no, this isn't furry....S-she's an alien, so, it's fine..Her name is also Karen Ceebeez. She wants to be a great galactic leader, but must start small first.

Either way she is really cute. Whats her story?
>>87534656
I think her ears would look better if they had some space between them.
>>87534656
good design but there's still gonna be somebody who'd argue with you about it being furry
>>87534656

>>87537302
Nah, i don't think he counts as furry. I mean, he is a talking animal, and overall he is closer to lhama kuzco than a anthro.
And either way, the characters that are arguably considered/can be considered furry that were posted here are all fine.either way if someone wants to post weird furry stuff they can go to /trash/, i'm fairly sure they have a oc thread there.

She starts out as a nerdy-type of person who's basically Aced every quiz, test, etc - Gets good grades - All the ritz. basically. Her true dream was to enroll in a very prestige college, but got denied because the only way one could enter this school, is to invent something incredible. Pic related (green one in the middle) is what she invents. His name is Robort.

>>87535184
Well, then...Shhhh...!!
>>87535493

>>87540505
Also forgot to mention that the reason Robort wasn't all that good of an invention is because Ceebeez didn't know that sentient robots are too clique to be acceptable (and that you only get ONE chance at submission) The ONLY thing she didn't know about - Just her luck!
This is another conceptual piece I made btw.
I feel weird posting my more recent characters here because they've been kinda lazy and self-pandering, though next I plan on making a pudgy plasma golem/elemental. Maybe next week.
In the mean-time, here's Ide, who is a Dullahan (mostly just in name; they're not ancient or anything in this universe, but most "new" species derived from humans are just given names of old mythical species). She can remove her head; they're very magically inclined, but their magic is tied to their head; if they lose it one way or another, they're permanently magically crippled; Dullahan heads are collected for sale in the black market, because they still remain sapience, while losing their memories/personality (which are tied to the body). The heads are often used as a sort of catalyst for more powerful spells. Ide sells artificial limbs, including heads, something which takes an intense amount of magic (thus a field of work mostly inhabited by Dullahans).

All of these are commissions I've had done. Looking for an artist willing to work with me on putting out a webcomic. Price point has been the only contention. I've got a decent budget, but it works out to having a small part-time job. Big commitment.
>>87541537
Some of my own art. Example of the kinds of monsters in the nightmare-world underneath people's beds.
>>87541575
There's monsters in the human world too, they just typically hang out in the witching hour or in disguise. Adults can't see monsters at all, and most kids rationalize what they see as other things. Adults can see Munch, but all they see is a big weird hairy kid or a dog.
Behold, the Slowlorisquatch.
>>87541618
I've got a ton more art but don't wanna spam too much more. Hope peeps like the idea. First time posting in these.
>>87541649
really good so far! i liked munch, and the idea of how the monsters work (that sorta reminds me of totoro, in a way) gives you quite a lot of liberty to play around.
whats your plan for them? their designs look perfect for a tv show.
>>87541740
That was the original plan! I'd still go for that but I myself don't have the connects to get that done. I know there's contests and stuff but without proper art for the pitch I'm up shit creek, rite?

I really like these pictures and the premise sounds like it has potential. I'm kind of curious about your call for an artist, but I fear I have too short of an attention-span; I probably wouldn't have the ability for long-term commitment on an art project.

The setting is inspired by Giger's art.
Picture related is one of the first drawings I made of it, almost 5 years ago I think.
Describe an OC that you have an idea for, but have never written out anything for.
>>87548811
A skeleton guerrilla soldier whose limb bones are made entirely out of guns.
Also wears a hat.
I usually would never post scanned doodles but i haven't had time to draw digitally lately because of college, so all i have is drawings i made in class
The one on the right is Taffy, i think i posted her a while ago, she is a character from a webcomic i haven't completed yet,
The one on the left is a character that recently appeared in my mind, Taffy usually helps me find a place or part of the story where new characters fits but so far we havent even found her name, all we know is that she has a silly bunny eared hat and that she uses that little rabbit mech thing to jump really high and that sometimes she uses the hat as a parachute
another little doodle with more of my ocs all of them belong to the same comic i mentioned before, but the 2 on the bottom right are 2 side characters that appear latter in the story, im planning to make a little one shot comic about them, they are usually way more happy, but i drew this on a day when i was busy thinking about other stuff so i guess i drew them being kinda upset because they got no progress on their comic, while every other character was busy with something else

These characters look pretty cute. Hope to see this comic developed.
Here's my comic strip character, Ryan. He's a basically an exaggerated caricature of me. The crazy hair style is based on how big my hair got when I spiked it up. The orange shirt is based on all the plain, colored t-shirts I wore in school.
Well, I said I'd post some more OCs, so I inked up some anthropomorphic ones this time. The first one is Mynx, a hare who was transformed into a humanoid creature following after a terrible cataclysm. She's a curious rabbit who likes to venture off into unknown places, but usually in the company of someone who knows their way around.
>>87554475
And lastly, Myx's four sisters. Not too much characterization on their part. They're your atypical innocents who're playful and as curious as their older sister. Considering they too underwent the same transformation as her and experienced some terrible events in the past, they made out well enough.
nice i have new stuff, im glad this thread exists
>>87554798
Oh damn, this looks really good!
>>87542505
Oh. Well I've been writing comedy for years but most of my completed stuff is in videos. Specifically musical kinds or sprite animations.
Here.
I wrote this and voiced everybody in it.

I wrote this too. Voiced alot of people in it.

I wrote a pilot episode for an animated series before too if you wanna see more.

You're welcome!
Man, I need to get better at drawing digitally.
Hope you don't mind me showing this WIP.

>>87555817
Fundamentals fundamentals fundamentas. Digital drawing is still just drawing.

>>87557353
how bout another
>>87556883
I know but I can draw way better on paper. It's just a matter of practice.
>>87560016
>>87556883
While both are the same action, drawing on a tablet and on paper have different feelings of feedback (that also depends on what tablet you are using), and it takes a while to get used to it.
I was reasonably decent on paper, and now i'm practicing with my tablet. its sort of easier than i remembered, but i didn't get the full hang of it yet.
By the way, anyone knows how to activate the pen pressure on the mac version of krita?
Made something in Illustrator today. But since i didn't post it anywhere else (i.e. dA, tumblr.), and want to play it safe, it's like this.
Hint:it's a head.
Vix Caudan. Polite, mature, ladylike and sadistic. She's not afraid to use her stinger or throw around her power in close quarters. She has a superiority complex and truly dislikes it when people don't respect her.

Thanks. Here's a conceptual design of her a bit older.
>>87567949
anotha one
Been working on her, magical girl named Cute Star. She battles evil by beating the shit out of it. However I don't have her costume down pact yet. Whichever design I end up picking will also lead to the rest of her team's costumes. Any comments on what you think would fit?
This is my character.
He's secretly my MC's brother like Racer X. He's possessed by a lazy psychic fish.
Together, they can see into the future and what they have to do to ensure the future TORTURES THEM INSIDE.
>>87571402
I call them Ecks.
>>87563527
Thanks man. That's pretty interesting too.
baby drawfag here, i have a noobie question that i don't really know how to google because it's little bit too specific. I have a concept for a character that i've been working on for a couple of weeks but i'm still a newb at digital art and photoshop.
Do most of you guys draw on tablets with screens? like the cintyq? i have an intuos because i wasn't gonna spend like $800 right off the bat but i'm having a hard time drawing straight lines and making my drawings look "clean" like for example >>87555817 , sure i can sketch sort of fine but remastering those sketches is actually harder than drawing them and i don't think it should work that way, or should i just wait to get better/get a better tablet before i do that?
hope you guys can help me out and be my /co /adv , if everything goes according to plan i'll be able to post my girl in like 2 days
>>87563515
Hey. Yoto.
It's me.Your friend, Nolan.
Looking good, dude. Glad to see you're still at it.
>>87575649
WOAH trippy! This would make some kickass portraits or a psychodelic decal. Thanks, Nolan.
>>87566867
Looking good!
>>87569711
It's cute and all but I fear the concept is really similar to Star Vs the Forces of Evil. I'm not saying to trash this idea, but I do recommend reworking it a bit or else someone may call you out and claim you for ripping off. The costumes look fantastic by the way.
>>87571839
Thanks!
>>87575643
It's a matter of skill. Your tools don't really have much of an impact if your skills are good enough. People can create a lot of things with a lower tablet like an Intuos. Just practice and you'll get used to it.
>>87575649
This looks like it would make a good black light poster.
This isn't my art, but my friend drew a cute rendition of my character, Slotchka. I'm still in love with it.
>>87575643
No, I don't think a screen is needed, nor does it have to be an expensive or recent model. I'd still like to be drawing with my Graphire 3 tablet that's over 10 years old, but unfortunately the one I had stopped working, and I've been using some newer Intuos models since then. I still miss the older, cheaper tablet though; it felt very comfortable to use.
I've never had a tablet with a screen and I've never felt like I needed one. I once got a chance to try one briefly, but it felt a little awkward to me personally.
The other guy is correct, the tools are less important than the artist. I've seen people draw amazing stuff with just mouse and MS Paint. Intuos should be a fairly decent brand, and buying a more expensive tablet wouldn't magically improve your artistic skills. Don't get a new tablet, just keep practicing with your old one.
If you're having trouble making the lines look good: maybe you're zoomed out too much? Start with a rough sketch, make a new layer for the final lineart, and zoom in enough so that your hand will have better control over the lines. Also, try to use swift strokes instead of too slow ones.
here are some beast/vehicle hybrids.
>>87578797
Reminds me of some older animal themed diecast cars.
That mixed with stuff like vigilante 8/twisted metal.

>>87524546

>>87539918
Ow my heart. I love long necked animals. This is great.
>>87540866
She reminds me an awful lot of the frog from thumbelina. Was she an inspiration at all?
>>87577070
Thank you for the feedback! Personally, I didn't even think of SvFE when I thought her up, I don't really care if anyone claims I'm ripping it off since the only things similar are the name and both being magic girls, but my major influence with her is magic girl shows like Pretty Cure.
>>87569711
I think my only issue is that she's a little broad shouldered and I can't tell if she's supposed to read like that.
>>87587037
I can understand that feeling. I made a magical girl brawler type character a year or so before Star vs. became a thing.
>>87587776
I'm still getting the hang of drawing women and shoulders are one of the things I need practice on. But yeah, she's also a brawler magical girl, though the idea behind her and her team is they are normal magical girls but don't act or fight like normal ones, where Stars costume is meant to release AoE blasts from the little stars, she's converted the power to increase her own physical abilities and let her hit harder, another member uses a ribbon as a weapon but instead of doing fancy dance moves, she uses it like a blade, and the third member uses magic portals to summon military weaponry to attack with.
>>87588265
Haha, that i somewhat similar to mine. In mine the powers are based on magical mood rings. The main character, Jo's ring gives her increased durability, power and speed but it's based on her own confidence. ie. If she believes she can do something, she can.
Her favorite method of attack is Jojo style rapid punches.
Another's mood is based or Rage and she conjures fire. Another's mood is perkiness and she uses hyperactivity to create sonic blasts or run around super fast.
But there's an emphasis on controlling your emotions. While your powers peak when you're at your most emotional, you're even more stronger when you learn to manage them.
>>87588664
Thats really great! Also I love your art style.
As for where my girls power comes from, it's a wibbly wobbly power crystal sort of thing, which comes from the fairies. In their world, evil monsters and stuff sort of pop up here and there, and were a big problem long ago, then the fairies showed up and started arming girls with magic powers and weapons to fight evil, and now hold a somewhat known, mostly secret organization, quelling whatever evil monsters pop up. Star (haven't decided on her real name yet) was the sole protector of a small city that only had a few small time monsters pop up once in a while, a higher up Fighter comes to the city to oversee her work, and thats when things go bad when a completely unknown and unexpected organization of evil monsters pop up out of no where and start attacking. Star and her higher up fight against them and meet and join forces with two new recruits to form a mighty team to battle against the Horror Empire and discover how they grew so big without being found out!
Also, Star had a weapon, a magic mace that shot energy blasts, but she kept breaking it trying to use it as a mace.
Just drew this guy
He's a tiny wizard

>>87599461
Well that's dumb
>>87601105
So how come Alxord is a cyborg? was he in some sort of accident?
>>87569711
Alright, I think I've settled on a design, changed a few things, I think I made her look a bit taller, or not, still getting the hang of it.
Here is Quince's best friend C.O. Compared to Quince he's more optimistic and at times a bit naive. He is also known to take things literally which can cause misunderstandings to varying degrees
Here's my alternate take on Truth, Justice and the American Way. I wanted to put a Native American in the role of Superman.
His name is gonna be something to represent his headstrong, never give up, kick your ass personality. I'm currently running with Jon Akecheta (a fighter).
Here's one of my potential villains. Kind of like a masked, Native American Black Tiger. I think Native American reservations is a cool setting, so I wanted to play with Superheroes in it.
Some axe faces
Whats good way to show off a character being a cyborg if they have there limbs coverged all the time?
>>87601127
No. he was born as one. His father is a robot and his mother is a human. It's best not to think to deep into this.
>>87601339
Yea, this is looking pretty good. You said she was a brawler, yes? I can it see clearly in the design now.
>>87603059
Neat. It's a good contrast to your other character.
>>87604779

>>87605687
That's no fun. You gotta show off your robo limbs, heh.
Nothing from me right now but another friend of mine drew my character, Slotchka. She seems to be a favorite.
Some more drawings of my favorite weird desert monster kids, Adelia and Zaahir. Times has been tough recently, but Adelia always tries to act cool to cheer up her best friend.

More characters
i think these guys are just background characters since my comic doesn't get too much into outer space stuff until one of the final chapters, i made them while i was bored in class, they were kind of a quck anatomy practice
the don't have names so any suggestions are welcome, i was thinking about naming the snail guy Gary and the Worm guy Jim, but maybe the references are way too obvious
This is Katrina, another main character from my comic. She's basically an overachiever, putting 110% effort into everything she does. Quince at first thinks of her as pretentious and overly ambitious, but a specific encounter with her puts that and all he and C.O. know into question. Plus they land a sweet summer job because of her!
>>87588664
>>87569711
Incredibly sketchy crosspver. Seemed like it'd be fun.

The comic is about Artificial Intelligence Computer Programs created by Advanced 3D Printer software. Each program has their own abilities and personalities based on the computer program they were created from.
It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are scarce and these computer programs dominate the planet.
What happened was there was viruses attached to some of these programs and those robots/androids went rogue and set up a resistance, seeing as humans made them deny their freedom.
These are the 3 main characters and the title page.
Here you have two characters from a book I wrote, back in 2008.
Naoki and Hana are BioPeople, part-human, part-plant. According to their biology, the older they get, they become more plant than human. In the end, they'll becomes trees and their human part will cease to exist. This is okay, since that only happens when the subject is too old to resist the BioTree within them.
But some cases are a bit more dire. Naoki's BioTree grows faster than anyone's else. He's an Adavced BioPerson, and everybody knows what that means: he's bound to a shorter lifespan. He also shows strong signs already, with his hair having being replaced by grass, and his blood already being slowly replaced by chlorophyll.
It's so bad, he must perform cleaning every day: brush off slight scabs of treebark appearing on his skin, cut off the roots that grow on his feet, and shave the excess of grass on his arms, legs, and head. He also has two large vines on his shoulders that he can control, allowing him to climb to high places and manipulate objects.
Next to him is Hana, a tall, thin BioPerson who deeply cares about Naoki, but who's too shy to admit any feeling for him. She also shows signs of her BioTree, but not as severe as Naoki. Namely, she has a sprout on top of her head, which she keeps because she thinks it looks cute, and her hair is slowly switching to grass. The biggest BioTree feature on her are those fingertips, which have extended into vines.
Well, there you have them. What do you guys think?
>>87623223
Unique concept. I like it.

I know you keep saying that you want to fix your overt detail, but is it a really bad thing to work with instead of against? consider using really watered-down colors in certain places or something. I'm sure you can make it fit.
I've been working on a short animation in microsoft paint, since I'm a poorfag. This is what I have so far. Also, I'm using a mouse, so I know it's not the best, but it's a start.

The rest of the team.
Cute Ribbon, a serious girl who has a weakness for terrible jokes, not used to wearing girly clothing. Fights via a ribbon(or streamer, whatever it's called) made of light that she uses like a blade
Cute Heart, an energetic and bubbly girl whose family runs an auto repair garage, thus she loves cars and has grown up working on them. She fights using the Heart Baton, originally designed to release blasts of pure love to defeat evil, but her fairy partner tinkered with it so now her Heart Baton opens portals that release high-grade fairy military weaponry which she commands at will.
Cute Rainbow, the oldest of the team due to being a senior officer of the Cute Fighters organization. Having been a Rainbow class Fighter for some time she takes pride in her job and tries to stick to the tried and true methods, but is not opposed to attempting new and risky moves if it means victory. She moved to the city to oversee the Cute Fighter rookie Cute Star and mentor her in the role of a Fighter, but ends up learning many new things herself as the team grows. Fights using a standard issue Rainbow Staff, a high powered weapon of Rainbow class fighters that releases a powerful blast of solid energy.
Together the four of them fight the evil Horror Empire, whose strength is far greater, and deeper than anyone anticipates.
>>87634769
Thanks man! I've always wanted to do something where the guy wanders around looking for a particular monster but just kind of runs into other local ones. I thought it'd be cool to focus more on random people having issues with monsters before he shows up. I always liked older shows like the Incredible Hulk where a guy wanders around helping people out but is kind of a outcast.
>>87628905
Well the one shot comic im making is about a guy who loves amusement parks, and because of a little accident he ends up in an amusement park ran by demons
i don't want to spoil the rest of the story but Beli is the mascot of the park, that's why his little base form is a bit based on mickey
While beli is not the real boss of the park, he had been planning to take over the place for a long time, and when my goofy main character ruins everything, Beli snaps out and becomes a monster
also about the visuals, the heart in his chest is just a little bit of foreshadowing about this one shot comic taking place in the same universe as another bigger comic i've been planning for a while
>>87635245

Thank you! Have another drawing of Hana. She's an excellent cook, which, in a barter economy her small town lives in, she's more or less a wealthy woman... except she would never think of it that way, nor would anyone else around. She just loves to cook, and people *love* her recipes, so they make sure to provide her with firewood, metal utensils (which are rare), and of course ingredients for the meals. Everything works out.
Naoki, on the other hand, is the sole protector of the town's library, and this marks him as "useless". Keep in mind, this is a post-apocaliptic future, a couple milennia after everything went wrong, with a world now mostly dominated by Nature, and with most Knowledge lost forever. Books are not a priority, though they have helped those small towns to survive. But since the townsmen don't need the books ALL the time, they think Naoki is some kind of loafer. Quite amusing, since there *is* a proper loafer in town, and he's the third main character of the original book I wrote, back then.
As for Hana... every night she diners alone, wondering if she should just go and ask Naoki to dine with her. But Naoki always seems busy in the library, either reading or taking notes. Maybe one day... One day, things would change.
... And boy, they did.
Still working on them drawing skills. But here's my OC named mute. She can't speak, but loves to dance.

You're welcome anon. I found his design super interesting. Do you have any art of Johnny I believe. Forgive me if I get his name wrong, the reply box is blocking your comment. I'm on mobile

A better drawing of my shark dude.
Hey guys, check out my new oc.
His name's fuckface mcgee
>>87669028
I like the outfit! sorta like a reverse sandy.
Whats his story?
>>87669090
Thank you!
>reverse sandy
I won't lie, his design is a bit inspired by sandy. But I hope it doesn't look like some kind of cheap sandy ripoff.
>Whats his story?
He's the pilot of the ship and he thinks he's one of the best, if not the best pilots in existence.
He acts rather egoistic most of the time and thinks he can do anything (which is not the case).
Besides that he's actually a pretty cool guy.
I still need to work on my characters, their personalities and the world they live in, but that's what I have for Jeff at the moment.
>>87669885
>But I hope it doesn't look like some kind of cheap sandy ripoff.
Don't worry about that. You can see a bit of the inspiration, but it doesn't feel like a ripoff at all.
He sounds like a fun character, its going to be interesting to see how well he does when pitted against the harshness of spess.
>>87670463
I'm glad you like him.
>>87663418
First off, that's a bloody awesome winged gimp demon!
Second, I wouldn't mind doing a collaboration if that's what you mention. The only thing that concerns me is free time. I still have a busy semester ahead of me, and won't have an influx of free time until December (my classes end on December 5th.) I'm still interested though!
What sorta comic are you looking to do? And what kind of backgrounds did you have in mind?
>>87671474
well, there is no time limit or anything, I don't have a clear idea or anything either, I'd just like to try out doing a comic.
My rough idea was about someone waking up in mysterious world, he doesn't know where he is or how he got there, he just wanders mostly alone, trying to find his way home.
you can practically go anywhere from there but I'd like to atleast get some pages going, to see how it works out, I'm also counting on your imput here, I'm really open to suggestions.

>well, there is no time limit or anything, I don't have a clear idea or anything either, I'd just like to try out doing a comic.
That's good news for me then. I have a lot of art projects and my own personal comic project to focus on in the meantime. 'Course, the latter project isn't a big deal, I'm working on that as I go.
>My rough idea was about someone waking up in mysterious world, he doesn't know where he is or how he got there, he just wanders mostly alone, trying to find his way home.
In any case, your current idea has potential to go whichever way for a narrative. The concept I'm getting from yours seems very psychologically driven though, kinda like this someone experiences their own subconscious world and encounters caricatures/creatures of people/places/things he experienced in actuality. Silent Hill comes to mind given how that series usually isolated the character in this remote setting filled with entities created by his or her negativity and/or a tragic event.
I know with my current comic, the setting is entirely fictional and based within its own rules, but I attached an allegory to the characters and setting that relates to actual issues (e.g. familial lost, abandonment, the longing to belong.)
Testing silhouettes.

thank you for keeping the thread alive

i feel like you should really take some time to at least learn the basics, and look im not an /ic/ nazi so i will not scream loomis at you, but looking at your characters i feel like you should try looking at Tex Avery's animation sheets so your characters can really get thae toonforce they need https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGqvjGXSjRQ
loud house animation sheets could work too since the character have big heads
ill just leave my go to drawing guide try to aim for level 2
also watch these 2 videos
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMC0Cx3Uk84
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsdkhQis34U
also since you are digital, when you finish practicing that take a look at this video, the colors in your characters can work together but you need to learn some color theory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh12RA3ha0U
now that i think about it Tex Avery wasn't a very good example
tiny toons gets the proportions expresions and movement you need to learn way better
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EiEX4tmCfY>>87675332
I've been working on perspective and things and wanted to try and put it to use. Also little tiny doll doodle in the corner because she's become my favorite character I doodle.
I was putting in a little practice in on this characters perspective. Especially with his ears.

i was told i needed some ugly characters for my portfolio so i made some goblin type dudes.
they'd be like henchmen characters to some villain or antagonist

I drew some more stuff relating to my character's story. A timeline is always fun!
>Can't draw looking for assistance
Have had an idea for a series about the Klondike gold rush, taking place in a boom town called Koldernell. The plot would center around the eclectic residents and what circumstances drove them to the ends of the earth in search of wealth.
>A couple characters to help paint the picture
"Slick" Willy Wilder: The main character as it were, a Canadian and the worst conman to ever live due to his inability to lie. Unlike the other characters everything about Willy is right there on the surface, a lanky, self-proclaimed huckster who goes from scheme to scheme attempting to strike it rich without a gold claim of his own. He's tolerated because he's mostly harmless and genuinely good natured, also latrines don't clean themselves. Willy has a slim build and sports a bowlers hat.
Mikhail Zima: Short, angry Russian national with superhuman strength. Wears Ushanka hat with the flaps up, should be at least a head shorter than other characters and stocky in build, his pack should be about twice his size. expression should rarely change from an unimpressed scowl. Is in feud with a bear that has been stealing food off his claim and is secretly the son of a Russian noble.
>If anybody shows interest I can post more. Thank you.

are you by chance a Lovecraft-fan?
>The concept I'm getting from yours seems very psychologically driven though, kinda like this someone experiences their own subconscious world and encounters caricatures/creatures of people/places/things he experienced in actuality.
I guess this would be a way to do it, making the world ambiguously personal for the character like with Yume Nikki. I've been thinking about the character exploring this different world. This world seems like our world has been consumed by something evil, you can recognize the basic shape of houses and buildings, yet they seem to be made of some strange, alien materials. There are human-like habitants in this world, who wander around without a clear destination. The MC while exploring the world finds parts of the real world that have remained intact, objects like furniture but also buildings, also remainings that hint that other people are or atleast were also here, like video cameras with something recorded or even diaries. Of course the first person he finds would be very important for the story. but overall I'd rather concentrate on the exploration.
There can also be a variaty of monsters, that could fill this world, some less some more dangerous, but I think it should happen gradually as for example he tries to travel from one "city" to another.
hopefully noone sees this post 8)
nameless girl. last pic of the bottom isnt finished yet. shes supposed to be wearing a karate gi

thanks! i think silhouettes are the most important aspect of designing a character.
The good boys are back in town...
>>87683219
Don't worry anon, she looks good. It's a nice design.
>>87684772
Oh they look damn good! I've seen your puppet in an earlier thread and I liked his design from the beginnig. Keep it up!
>>87685477
Thanks man!
I'm happy that you like his design haha
All this talk of silhouettes has got me wanting to try it.
>>87684772
Love the colors on those boys.
Just a character I made on a whim when doodling. I think I like the design enough to use it for something though.
>>87680559
Cute character, I really like the 5 year old design. Looks like something that could air on CN
>>87640431
Honestly I prefer the old designs better. It reminds me of Robot Jones or any of those mid-2000s styles.
The new ones don't really do anything for me.
>>87675332
You might want to redraw their poses, because it looks like they're all leaning back (unless that's what you're going for)
silhouettes you say?
Made these for /v/ a little while back
>>87678859
is having ugly character seriously important? I'm kinda considering it, but all I can think of is that its "good practice?"
I realize I have no ugly characters... because... ugly characters..
>>87691824
even good ugly characters have appealing designs
if they are just ugly they wont be popular
>>87504938
That panel after the "lying" line. good work anon
>>87692439
"good ugly characters have appealing designs"
I kinda like that idea, but another part of me says 'if it has an appealing design then its not ugly'
>>87692862
appealing doesn't always mean attractive. It could just mean the design is coherent and was made with recognizability and good character design in mind. The appearance should always tell something about the character
>>87691824
Its not, the recruiter from nickelodeon specifically said that for nickelodeon, it would help to have some ugly characters in there as well since a lot of their shows feature less cute, more cartoony.
No one else i spoke to told me to add it but its always good to show a broad range of skills
Wanted to show his guy off.
I hope I aint annoying folks with these, but I drew some more about the Cute Fighters, both to practice more on their designs and also to flesh out their abilities a bit on 'paper'
Not really an OC since I pretty much based him of Scaggy from pokemon, but wanted to share
>>87698978
to be honest were already in the 300+ replies, so you'd have to make a new oc thread
>>87696502
Keep at it. These are looking good.

>are you by chance a Lovecraft-fan?
The mood and themes in his work I've very familiar with and inspired by to some extent. Bloodborne comes to mind, though, since the art direction of that game altered the way I approached my character designs.
>'ve been thinking about the character exploring this different world. This world seems like our world has been consumed by something evil, you can recognize the basic shape of houses and buildings, yet they seem to be made of some strange, alien materials.
I rather like that idea, having mundane objects appearing noticeable in shape but their form is drastically malformed by the world's substance. I'm also in favored of said material fusing creatures/inhabitants of this world to various objects or furniture, sorta like melding them to a significant one that the MC would recognize from actuality.
>There are human-like habitants in this world, who wander around without a clear destination.
A good start. I find the aimless wandering sorts to be rather fascinating when they're all heading off to a certain direction or destination but the MC is never aware of where or why they are.
>The MC while exploring the world finds parts of the real world that have remained intact, objects like furniture but also buildings, also remainings that hint that other people are or atleast were also here, like video cameras with something recorded or even diaries.
Sounds like a good way to worldbuild and break up a lot of the more visually busy segments in the story. However, that brings up one concern: if you want your audience to be told the story more through the visuals or the text. I'd imagine the former.
>Of course the first person he finds would be very important for the story. but overall I'd rather concentrate on the exploration.
I'd assume this person is rational and sentient like a human, or just a human.
As for the monsters, they'd make for great background characters and secondary antagonists.
I recently got some Isograph technical pens for my birthday, so I drew up some more OC stuff.
Here's the miserable protagonist from my comic "FaustFall." An orphan named Lucifer.
>>87699988
And an older OC named Old Man Jack. He was a demonic gentleman who praised old age and could fuse into architecture. I haven't done anything with him since then, but I would like to revise him for my comic or for a future one.
>>87691824
I wouldn't consider it vital to have an ugly character for the sake of having one. Every character should have a purpose, even if it's a very simple one. Ugly characters are a joy to draw though, since you can complicate their designs and make some stupidly disturbing fellas from just a buncha lines. At least that's the way I do it. I'd say a good chunk of my characters are pretty ugly, lol
>>87624216
Dang they're pretty similar, though robot uprising stories aren't anything new and have been around since Star Trek. Though I think it's fine since I'm putting my own spin on it with 3D Printers creating and printing out androids with every-day computer programs as characters and personalities.
It was mainly inspired by a lot of Sci-fi novels and comics.

>>87699958
I'm glad we are on the same page on this.
>that brings up one concern: if you want your audience to be told the story more through the visuals or the text. I'd imagine the former.
I'm not a great writer as english is not first lenguage but I guess it would be easier to use mostly text with some good pictures instead of having to draw mundane panels. I do love the show rather than tell approach, with several similar shots showing a continuous take like a scene in a movie like One Punch Man or I am a Hero but I can see that it would be too difficult and time consuming. I guess a format like Homestuck would be less exhausting.
I thought about the first scene or rather something like a first arc, it starts underground, the MC wakes up in a construct that seems like maze, there he meets said habitants for the first time, it more or less ends with him finally making it out of the underground finding himself in this strange world. How long he is in there depends on how much we create new things for the underground or we can just keep it simple.
