Well, the term Disneyfication is meant to describe the act of stripping something's original cultural content and making it the "theme park" version, i.e. more marketable and friendly. Think of the old folktales and other works that a lot of Disney material is based on, they strip lots of elements to make them more marketable and Disney's version of these things have replaced the originals in the common eye.

If you ask anyone about the Little Mermaid or Hunchback of Notre-Dame for instance, they are going to think of the Disney films instead of the works they are based on, many of which contain dimensions not present in the simplified Disney versions.

Is this use of the term to describe these redesigns newer? I've haven't seen it used this way before.

And the movie was just "ok". The designs on the Concept art were way better, really. Same with some of the scrapped characters, like the villain trio.

The original BH6 was basically Marvel's clumsy attempt to capitalize on the anime/manga craze. It was never good. The movie could have done basically anything and it would have been a notable improvement on the source material.

Only missed opportunity is not using more of Shigeto Koyama's concepts for Baymax, but it's a Disney movie so I understand why they wouldn't go with a more aggressive design.
