I have to admit, I don't think I noticed when Willis did this. Robin remembering her from her tits is a pretty funny joke, but WIllis doesn't make that connection at all so I won't give it to him. Easy way, insert a dupe of panel 3 before the current 3, that has Robin glancing down before she says she recognizes Leslie. I might try to do it later, but it would be a pain since it's an open panel.

Anyway, it's really weird that she'd agree to be that close to Robin, though, knowing that there would definitely be photo and video evidence of her being there.

The Leslie/Robin plot is really annoying. I think it's actually, at its core, kind of cute and having Leslie act like a gibbering lovestruck doofus is actually kind of amusing. But Willis just cannot leave well enough alone and has to get his political digs in no matter what. He can't have the differing politics just be background noise for the typical odd couple shenanigans. It's not really a moot point. It is a very relevant fact that Dorothy tried to convince Joyce to go to authorities and was stopped twice by Joyce. The first time, Dorothy wasn't sowing any doubt in Joyce's mind. Joyce was just more concerned with being able to stay at the university than trying to stop a dangerous predator do to others what he did to her.

This is so crazy. Joyce is responsible for her own decisions. She never wanted to go to the police and her refusal is the only thing that aided Ryan.

Dorothy explained a possibility that she found in her limited research, and then finally said that, "Whether it does any good or not, I still think it's the *right thing* to at least *attempt* to report through the proper channels." That's definitive. And it's true. You're not going to catch every offender for every offense, but reporting serious crimes like this is the right thing to do. Which is another thing Dorothy said the night of the assault, that if they don't report Ryan, they are making it easier for him to attack someone else.

First of all, she was stopped twice by a friend who had been roofied and was not in control of her faculties. There's no telling what Ryan put in Joyce's drink. Joyce could have died or suffered serious harm and Dorothy would have been partly to blame. I'm a little more forgiving of this since these people are barely out of high school and teenagers make dumb decisions like that, but Dorothy allowing her drugged up friend to make decisions is still bad and dumb.

Second of all, saying that colleges have a bad track record with punishing sexual assault and then just shrugging your shoulders and making a half-hearted recommendation to go through with reporting the crime anyway doesn't exactly engender confidence in Joyce. Sal is working hard to convince Joyce not to do it, Billie is useless, no one listens to Sarah, and Dorothy is concern-trolling with her half-assed Google research. These people suck and if you can't see why then you're a bad judge of character.

First off, all referendums in Britain (with some exceptions, of which the EU referendum wasn't one) are advisory - even ol' Fromage has had to admit this - and the fact there was a 1.9% majority vote AND quite a lot of people who should've had a vote - e.g. 17 year olds, British expats living in the EU - didn't, because reasons.

Secondly, the reason so many people voted for it is because they've been told for DECADES about how everyone in the EU is a Stalinist dickhead who kicks puppies and wants to stop you recycling teabags. Add in the absurd promises the Leave campaigners made (where's that £350 million for the NHS?) and the simple truth is that people were more willing to believe comforting lies (The EU is responsible for everything wrong in Britain) then the uncomfortable truth (bad governments, probably ones you voted for, are responsible for most of what's wrong in Britain).

Thirdly, given the spike in hate crimes in Britain, it's kinda disingeuous to say that racism and xenophobia didn't play a part in this shit.

Unless they were mislead about losing their voting rights after 15 years of complete non-residency they don't get to complain. If they were unaware they'd lose their voting rights after fifteen years its their own ignorance. The National Police Chief's Council explicitly said that a 57% increase in reporting was not indicative of a 57% increase in hate crimes and can partially be explained by decreasing police underreporting of crimes. It also fails to mention that the number of recorded hate crimes in the UK has been rising for five years, the 2016 spike started in April, and following it's peak at the end of June began a precipitous decline. The Home Secretary herself said in September that rates had returned to levels comparable with 2015. So, despite the popular image that at any given moment the BNP will start gunning down Muslims and Poles in the streets, the truth of the matter is that the UK had a rate of hate incidents that increased in line with prior years, a few incidents of violent hate crimes massively outside the norm coupled with police no longer falsifying data coupled with an atmosphere of tension and the ability for a witness or complainant to declare a matter a hate crime creating a statistical outlier in the period surrounding a major national or international event, which normally cause spikes in reported hate crimes. While racism and xenophobia will always play into things involving international relations, it's equally disingenuous to imply that they played a major role, or that I am a bigot, especially considering that nationalistic and far-right politics are far less prevalent in the UK than in the rest of the EU.

I think the thing that irritates me most about this series is the wasted potential.

The characters aren't really that bad, and even some of the dynamics and arcs that Willis has come up with aren't terrible... but it's all fucking squandered for poorly written, poorly executed social justice shenanigans that Willis thinks make him "deep" or some shit.
