Is this the biggest fuck up in the whole MCM?

The Infinity Gems are omnipotent in their respective universe. Where Dormammu lives they should be just rocks.

Just turn your brain off, bro!

So who has the Soul Stone?

Different dimension, same universe. The Dark Dimension doesn't exist outside of the Earth-616 universe; the one you see here is Earth-199999's DD. Think 616's Negative Zone and 1610's N-Zone (RIP).
>>
>>87466722
I mean, there is precedence for this. The 616 Infinity Gems disappeared for a few years into the Malibu Comics universe and worked perfectly fine there.

Alternate Dimensions are not the same as alternate Universes.
Dimensions reside within their respective Universal boundaries, so the Infinity Stones from Universe-616 would work inside the Dark Dimension within Universe-616.
Not using Dormammu's comic appearance is the biggest fuck-up in the film though
>>
>>87466722
Dormammu isn't in another Universe, he's in another realm/dimension contained in the whatever universe the mcu is. That's how it works.

>>
>>87468205
>Not using Dormammu's comic appearance is the biggest fuck-up in the film though

Nah, I get why they did it. They really wanted the Dark Dimension to look alien. Dormammu, in the comics, doesn't really look like a demonic god from outside the boundaries of time.
>>
>>87466722
The dark dimension isn't a separate universe, it's a magical dimension that's still part of the universe, like the Crimson cosmos, or the splinter realms.
>>
>>87466722
Their universe was in the process of fusing with the Dark Dimension at the time.

If we were talking about Shuma-Gorath's Chaos Dimension, I would agree with you. There's only one Shuma-Gorath in all of existence (not counting his avatars, such as his MvC incarnation), and the Chaos Dimension is in-between universes.

However, the Dark Dimension (and its ruler, Dormammu) is part of each individual universe, not shared between universes. Hence, bringing 616's Infinity Gems into the 616 Dark Dimension would work, just as bringing MCU Infinity Stones into the MCU Dark Dimension did.

I really hate the way Galactus was treated. But I actually like what they did with Dormammu and how he looked in the movie.
And for what it's worth, if Dormammu was to actually the regular dimension I am sure they could give him a more sensible human like form. It feels like a distinct possibility with this Dormammu.
Meanwhile if the actual Galactus was somewhere in the middle of that complete and utter mess of a cloud, yet didn't even allude to it throughout the film, then that'd be even more ass than if it was just a cloud. Dormammu we actual got to see as part of the Dark Dimension itself, and it was made clear that he rules over said dimension, and Dormammu was made into an actual actor of the movie and other actors of the movie interacted with him.

In spite of their appearances having shallow resemblances. It's like night and day still.

>all that shit with Mordo was badly handled

He had an arc. The Ancient One states that's he's rigid where Strange is flexible because of the events of his youth.

Mordo was ultra orthodox to TAO's message, and her hypocrisy and Strange's use of the time gem ultimately divided him.

It's pretty reasonable in comparison to comic book Mordo who is a bullying rival to Strange from his first appearance.

>>
If Dormammu is so powerful, and his entire shtick is he's beyond time, why would a time loop defeat him?
And in 1 minute no less.
>>
>>87466722
>Is this the biggest fuck up in the whole MCM?

No that would be Dormammu being reduced to a creature who can only use his power to kill and not capture, manipulate, or enslave beings.

What exactly stops him from just trapping Strange there? Why does he have to do what Strange wanted at all? Because Time Loop? Nigga just wrap strange up and toss him to fuck all land and get on with it. Or tell him "ok you win" with your fingers crossed.

Why exactly is this manifestation of all evil bound to not break his word to some two bit hack?

Dimensions arent alternative universes.
>>
>>87486254
Nah, fuck off with that shit.
>>
>>87482694
Which makes me doubt those people read comics, or if they do, they read them "wrong" if they're not capable of understanding different universes/iterations are separate canons.
>>
>>87486686

I can understand when someone takes one medium as the sole canon not to be changed in other media. I used to be that way till I could accept multiple versions
>>
>>87486768
I guess, it's a fair issue with what you expect of an "adaptation".

But I'm saying, multiple versions have existed in comics for a long ass time. That's the whole point of both the What If and the Elseworlds series. And then you've got things like ongoing alternate dimensions like the Ultimate U or Earth-2, and things that are sort of alternateversionsploitation like Exiles, Mutliversity or Amalgam.

And that's a fun concept, really, I prefer movie versions to be alternate universes than 1-to-1 adaptations.
>>
>>87476026
he literally did that. it was a great story
>>
>>87484947
He might have a body when he enters the Earth dimension instead of merging his with ours (the presence of Time in our dimension making him change his plans perhaps)

He believes "using evil to do good" is wrong.

His conflict with TAO slightly reflects Tony's conflict with Steve in Civil War.

He believes in rules, in not fucking with the natural order, given they are supposed to be protecting.

Shuma-Gorath in the comics, I believe though he can be stopped before manifesting in a dimension more easily than he can be fought if he's already gotten in. If he's already gotten in, he's pretty much unstoppable, which is usually not the case with Dormammu.

>>87476286
I like Wong in the current book.
>>
>>87472189
In the comics, the gems only work inside their respective universes. I think that wasn't introduced until Hickman's Fantastic Four, so three multiversal Reeds could have their universe's Infinity Gauntlet and still lose to a bunch of rampaging celestials.

There was no limitation introduced to the MCU's Infinity "Stones", though. They couldn't have done it, either, because DS introduces the multiverse.
>>
>>87472240
Dormammu doesn't like change. He likes constants. Eternity. That's why Time fucks him over so much.
>>
>>87485949
The fact that anything that takes strange out of the equation triggers the timeloop and sets it all back in motion. They are literally frozen in that moment until Strange undoes it of his own free will.

Also, I am happy that they made Dormammu follow his word like most demonic and higher level entities. It sets things up for future movies and establishes a status quo that mirrors the comics in a good way. It also means that Dormammu has to get creative in the ways he tries to invade earth now. Clea is just a matter of time.
>>
>>87488656
Tina Minoru was a named character in the credits! And Wong wielded the Wand of Watoomb!

I'm such a mark for the this trivial shit.
>>
>>87485720
>If Dormammu is so powerful, and his entire shtick is he's beyond time, why would a time loop defeat him?
It is BECAUSE he is beyond time. In the time loop Strange doesn't remember all his own deaths and isn't driven insane because to him, most of it didn't happen. But Dormammu IS beyond time, and that meant he is forced to experience and remember every single bloody time loop, which annoyed him. Strange used a bug as a feature.

>>
>>87485720
if there is no time he has no way to deal with it. He couldnt stop the time loop because it was brought from another dimension that had it, Thanos has done similar feats when facing the cancerverse, he died on that universe to reintroduce death( the locals couldnt die)
>>
>>87490021
Black Panther first appeared in F4.
>>
>>87466722
iirc dormammu's dark dimension is a constituent part of the local dimension.
>>

>>
>>87489826
But why was he affected by it at all? He was already entering the world, why couldn't he just kill strange every now and then while going about his business?
Why was he also reset physically to the point when Strange activated the loop?

I haven't read any comics at all, and i haven't even seen half the movies, so sorry if i'm being dense here. It just seemed like a plothole to me.
>>
>>87490092
He could keep killing him forever, but strange would be around forever, the eye of agamotto carried its own time with it. Dormma wasnt affected by the time loop but he was unable to stop it from happening. Imagine a mosquito buzzing in your ears, you kill it and he respawns, forever.

I like to think the flaming head is what would have happened to the zealots if they kept leaking more power, their eyes had already all cracked up and they looked like they were burning beneath the skin, eventually they would start burning through
>>
>>87490145
But he was affected by it.
When Strange appeared for the second time, instead of going like: "Dude wtf i just killed you", he repeated himself and had a case of Deja Vu.
>>
>>87488226
Interviews hinted at it being captain marvel ( monica I would guess?)
>>
>>87490293
he didnt reset fully like strange did, his memory was kept forever. he had no way to deal with time, it was alien to him.
>>
Did anyone else hate how Dormammu looked?

Why did he have a nose
>>
>>87490339
because he canonically has one

Is everyone here on shrooms, do you not know that the flames are an effect he applies on himself? Has no one read the comics?
>>
>>87466722
>The Infinity Gems are omnipotent in their respective universe. Where Dormammu lives they should be just rocks.
Has there ever been a comic page where someone had/used the Gauntlet or the one of the Gems in the Dark Dimension?

Because from what I remember, there have only been instances of the Guantlet/Gems being inert in other realities that had their own Infinity Gems.

That is what happened when Dormammu took them into his realm. Their skin boiled off and bright flames wer coming out of their eyes. They just became Mindless Ones.
>>
>>87481403

>>
>>87481403
>The Eye Of Agomotto pre-dates Agomotto having the Time Gem
>Agomotto put the Gem into the Eye to contain it
>remove Time Gem and still have the original Eye Of Agomotto
Problem?
>>
>>87486134
its called sabotage.
>>
>>87490521
The very real problem this film had is the sole fact that Strange can't have been in the monastery for longer than a few months, because in the scene when he picks his watch for the evening, there's a silver plaque above the watch drawer that says something somthing 2016, and when TAO dies, it's become winter. So he had his 7 operations all over the course of a few weeks and never allowed his hands to heal in the slightest before fucking off to Kathmandu.
>>
>>87481403
So Vision and Dr. Strange, the most notoriously OP characters in that continuity, will have to be BTFO in time for Infinity War Part 2.
