This is the kind of movie that is pitched and approved by people who think

A) cartoons are for kids, and
B) kids are idiots.

"Whee, nothing says KID like a talking baseball bat and ball. Oh, and make sure to call the ball Screwy, because you know... screwball, ha ha. Oh, and call the bat Batty."

Writers and designers can try to improve the mess (the bat is no longer Batty in the movie as made), but it can't be salvaged. It's just too stupid.

The original title was "Yankee Irving", which was the name of the kid on the poster, which at least was an unusual title. But someone thought, "This unremarkable movie is not unremarkable enough." and changed it to that totally forgettable title.
