Comics are a visual medium. Its easier to portray bullets like that and have the reader be able to instantly recognise what it is.

>>87456664
A 'muzzle flash' is a factual occurrence with firearms, but is amplified in movies for dramatic effect and visibility.
A cartridge is never fired out of the barrel of a handgun. There is no amplification of reality, there is just ignorance of a thing that is incredibly easy to research.
Your analogy is complete shit, likely because you don't really care enough to present a valid argument and aim for only the most base level of antagonism to fill in a lonely evening. A true craftsman of the visual medium like Alex Toth would crucify the artist for not taking even the slightest bit of interest in knowing what they're doing, and yet here you're defending it.
>>87442294
Good idea for a thread OP!
I severely love this little quote by Sandman.
>I am of your faith, I am of all faiths in my fashion.
I think with the context and theme of the scene here, writers talking about seeing themselves in their creations at it brings up this metaphysical point about Dream basically being of everyone's faith, religion, philosophy whatever because Dreams are universal. Not just the kind you have when you sleep but the kinds that inspire you to live.
That's of all faiths. Of all beliefs. Of all views.
It speaks volumes about the character and concept Gaiman was trying to pin down. He's someone that everyone essentially knows in their own hearts and minds and their own ways. Every culture on the planet has/had some version of "the Sandman" too.
And again, I just liked the whole scene and theme here because I think Gaiman never shied away from showing himself as Dream but he never did in some obnoxious self-insert way. Just commenting about how writers and creators tend to put their soul and a part of their own personality into their works.
The IDW minis are great
>>87456830
>>87442294
>>87446481
Nah Dan Slott has plenty of great moments and sometimes great concepts. Its his overall execution that leaves him lacking.

Flynn's Eggman is such a joyously evil character. I ADORE villains that have no moral high ground and know it and don't care, because they LOVE being an evil dickhead; this is exactly what Eggman is in the comics these days.
The best part is he's so chipper about it. A pragmatic sadist that sees no use for life that isn't dedicated to his will, but he'll stroll about and whistle a tune or crack a smile while keeping his composure roughly 95% of the time.
>>87457177
It's kind of similar if you squint - spanning a lot of different times and locations, a weird ancient protagonist, and Gaiman wrote a few stories for DW so there's that - but also different, since Sandman's more about myth and giant themes like Death while Who relies more on complicated timeline shenanigans and monsters of the week

But it makes sense the Penance Stare does not work on an envoy of Hell.
After all, so long as the Punisher wears the skull - and probably even when he doesn't - everyone he kills goes straight to Hell to empower Olivier, his demonic patron.

if you read the issue in particular it becomes easier to understand whitin context but basically: Desolated and Confused Man cannot comprehend the world around him, the panels are tortuous, messy, etc. He receive a visit, its himself from the future and then the Algorithm 8 is revealed to him, a knowledge not only capable of saving the multiverse but of understanding life in its patterns too
the page is this transition, where things once were rather caotic starts to be broken up in such detailled manner, you see focus in lips, particles, wind etc, the sensible world appears more sensible and then the details turns back in these big pictures, totalized views, but now in order and fully comprehended
