Without spoiling anything, Steven saw something while they were coming back from a mission. The gems can't find any evidence that he's right, and Steven is starting to break down because he knows what he saw. Not getting any sleep, always on the lookout and shit. Amethyst and Garnet are mostly fine about the whole thing, but Pearl is pissed because she's an OCD bitch

The ironic thing of people labeling Steven Universe as demeaning it's male characters is that they ignore the fact for most of the shows current run, Steven and Greg have been the emotional stable and most well adjusted characters of the show. Greg is certainly a better regular parent then all three gems combined, and without steven's help, all three would've fallen apart at some point. it's only recently that steven has developed and been affected by his own severe emotional problems, and they're damn good ones.

Anyways, why was Centipeetle trying to invade the temple in the first episode? So far whenever characters make offhand comments like that it has relevance later but we still aren't sure about this one.

Some of this shows writing is actually pretty good sometimes. One of my favorite episodes is probably the one where he ignores Connie after dealing with all the real shit that happened in the previous episodes. It's nice that the people who work on the show actually understood, at least for a little while, that Steven was starting to get into some deep shit with the conflicts between the gems. The most recent episodes are pretty ass though as far as I can remember.

I mean yeah I love it, but I'm just disappointed at a lot of the recent episodes bar Bismuth and the Ruby episodes. The only other thing that was good was probably the Jasper arc but it ended way too soon desu.

Dude this is the only episode where I can honestly say:

But yeah things don't get so intense until about the first two-parter at Mirror/Ocean Gem.

Although interestingly Steven almost dies about 42 times roughly between those episodes.
