What started out as the most promising new Image book in years has devolved into one of the most delay-plagued series in the entire history of the medium, and an absolute writing travesty with hollow one-dimensional characters and un-fleshed out plots that no one cares about, have no payoff, and go nowhere.

What an unmitigated fucking disaster this series has been.

Is this series the biggest example of wasted potential in comics history?

I still enjoy this but if this arc isn't leading into the end I'm going to drop it
I'm not going to wait till 2020 because of delays, it's not like the art is that detailed it causes the delays

this is baby hiatus.

I remember getting volume 1 of this years ago and reading it with my friends and all of us getting hype for the potential of the book.

Waiting more than a year for each new, small, volume pretty much slaughtered any active enjoyment of the series for us.

Have they explained why it takes them forever to release material?

it's the shit play "artist" do nowadays, they art a bit, get a writing credit, writing gets you more dollah, and then you stop caring about delivering the work that's takes more than a weekend, and i by no means i mean that writing only takes that, but that's what i mean with this "artists".

Well previous was mostly about setting up those plots, so is really too soon to say whatever they were pointless or not, is just that the fucked up release schedule make it seems it was forever ago, and i real time is indeed the case, but in term of issues it hasn't been that long.

The art was always real fucked up with those goddamn angular suggestions of a face. I love this series but it's the one thing I don't like about it, Boss' face especially looks like a fucking picasso.

I feel like a dick saying that because I really, really love this series but yeah, I completely understand saying the faces are distracting.

Last issue introduced us to Roberta, Earl's daughter, the pissed off woman in the restaurant at the beginning and end of the issue. She wants to kill Boss, and so does the backwoods deacon guy, Tad, who is also now in control of a pack of rabid dogs somehow, and also everyone in the town has it in for Boss now since they implicitly only turned a blind eye to his criminal dealings when he was winning football games.

The art was never the book's strong suit. The colors are nice, but it's no Scalped.

Image can't measure up to Vertigo as long as their quality and deadline control is what it is, but I guess it's kind of the point.

This book is probably the best example of why I don't buy most image books. A lot start off SO strong and just lose momentum and rarely give any kind of resolution to the story, so you're left hanging for years for just the possibility of the writer taking time off from DC/Marvel to finish their story.

Nice to know that nothing of value happened in today's issue of, "All White Southern People Are Evil." Fucking comic writers.

I'm wondering if the current political climate (one sparked, in part, by white people getting really tired of being told "You're evil because ____") is having a negative impact on this book?

Blame fucking Marvel, they're relying almost entirely on Jason Aaron to sell their books. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesnt have the time anymore to even write his Image books at this point, which is a damn shame cause I love the crap out of Southern Bastards and The Goddamned.
