Unless I misunderstood something while reading, DoFP really didn't live up to its legacy. Felt like a really small and unimportant story compared to others.

anyway, one of the reason that DOFP happened was because Byrne wanted to draw sentinels, but Claremont thought that sentinels are lame. Byrne replied sth with "no, you just write them lame". So they went full apocalypse now

Pretty much every "bad future" where a hero failed to do something so a bad guy took over falls apart once you remember that there's other heroes. And that other villains would step in as well, if you take the heroes off the table, the villains would start fighting each other.

It's future canon. It literally hasn't happened, and won't, thanks to Rachel and Kitty. Some event that never happened is what is the fork for the DoFP reality to happen. That event doesn't matter and has nothing to do with the actual quality of the story--which I agree is only ok, but GOAT cause it gave us Rach.

Wouldn't the Sentinels know about Doom's Doombot M.O. and do a check to make sure it really is Doom they killed and not just a bot? Like even something as simple as ripping Doom/The bot in half could work. If it's just tech it's a bot, if it's blood, guts, and matches Doom's DNA it's him.
