Have you never watched Toonami prior to the relaunch? The block was almost entirely couched in long-running shows. Weekday block ran both Dragonball and Dragonball Z, and the Saturday block aired both Naruto and One Piece.

Alright I'll give you it being the most obscure show on the block, even though in consideration the title would probably go to IBO even if it's part of the Gundam brand. About Jojo's disappointing ratings and the backlash for these first eps not being like the memes, I think that's the hype of the show actually working against it. If they had started with Part 3 instead like some were expecting I'm sure the ratings would be significantly better, it's not like the first two are absolutely necessary. Sure, they're really good but the main exposure the series ever gotten overseas was from Part 3 and it was doing okay without the first two parts.

I would say its likely, after all they did try to get Fujiko Mine, but my concern is that Discotek being the license holder may prevent it from airing on TV. They typically only license the home video rights, with streaming and airing rights remaining with the Japanese studio.

True, but the point I made was that maybe starting with the part that introducted the staple element of the series would have drawn in more viewers. I'm in Jojo for the long haul and knew the importance of part 1, it definitely will be entertaining and worth sitting through for certain parts and part 2. Since from the hype around him, Joseph is up as the best Jojo candidate and because it's a package deal for a full season I can't complain.

IBO was the obvious choice as it is the current Gundam.

Look at it this way, Sunrise and Bandai in the business of pushing merchandise. Unlike most anime-related merchandise, Gunpla sets are actually sold in US stores (mostly Barnes & Noble and hobby shops). IBO is the current series, so it is what their Gunpla line is presently centered around. So, the deal Toonami made with Sunrise probably requires they air IBO before they can go into the backlog due to it being the series whose exposure currently most benefits Sunrise.

It's a very good movie, and very pretty.
Unfortunately, it moves kind of slowly and has a lot of dark (lighting wise) scenes, so people are going to be falling asleep left and right.
If you can't stay up to watch it, watch it on your own, it's really nice.
