Sometimes it felt like a real blockbuster that could have been great. Most of the time though it was cringy and mediocre. I still liked it better than BvS though. My distaste for it probably has a lot to do with the editing and the writers. It was an A list cast for the most part and it felt like they all could have done a great job. The fact that Man of Steel is the closest thing that has any semblance of coherence and artistry in its craft compared to the rest of the DCEU is just downright disappointing. Honest to god the worst film I've ever seen (except maybe A Field in England, but that's shit for other reasons).

I think the film could've been salvageable if the team had been smaller. Consider GotG, I've never read the comics but I feel attached to the film versions of the characters because there weren't too many of them and they all had reasonable development through the film. Why the fuck were Croc, the solider twat, the spanish fireman with a terrible backstory, et al even involved?

The world-threatening villain was retarded as well. Harley's "power" is that she has a baseball bat and is attractive. The rest of them all had fairly street-level powers as well really. They fucked this up because in the comics, the concept of Suicide Squad was more akin to the government undergoing black ops through the use of villains unlike the movie's reasoning of using them against Superman-tier threats (which makes no fucking sense at all unless you give Deadshot some Kryptonite bullet or some other contrived plot device).

I remember in one interview (can't seem to remember it right now but I might try to find it later), Snyder is asked a question about Krypton, specifically the Growth Codex. Snyder answerd for about ten minutes by making up a bunch of lore, which he then states that since he hasn't turned it into a movie yet "doesn't matter" because he could change it at any time. I think he does this a lot with the stories, trying to figure out the right way to show things without having plot holes.
