Peridot simply works with anyone because unlike the other gems, she actually tries to be friends with others while other gems only care if there is a problem or rather a emotional crisis that needs to be fixed and it has to be very obvious for them to notice, the rest of the time, they do their own thing.

Peridot is also very clumsy in her attempts to reach out to others but atleast she stil tries and has the tendency to be very stubborn about it. She may not be as sensible as others but she is less egocentric with far less issues that impedes her to connect with others.

She is the opposite of Lapis who is trying to seclude herself from the world and doesn't care about others and has some of the heaviest issues of the gems that impedes her to connect with others. Lapis may not be the best person or Gem for Peridot but she sure needs someone like her, that reaches out to her, is rather simple and caring without many issues and has pacience enough to deal with Lapis issues.

The best person would be Steven but Steven is kinda there for everyone.

1) I think it's more of a case of quality > quantity. There is more prestige in having one well groomed pearl instead of several lesser ones.

They joked about that in Know Your Fusion, but I don't think money is really the problem. They simply have no plans so far to put Sugilite back into the spotlight to warrant writing dialogue for her. The same for Opal, and she's been formed multiple times without a speaking role.

We know that gems are bound to a particular color even in their fusions. Amethyst can only wear purple, black and white colors. Jasper is red and orange, Rose is pink and white, Rubies are red and black, Sapphires blue and white, etc, etc. Yellow Pearl is yellow, Blue Pearl is blue.

But how come Pearl, our Pearl, can wear a trillion of different colors? We've seen her with green, blue, yellow, orange, pink colors on her clothes. What are the implications of Pearl being capable of this? Is there some sort of multicolored pearl?
