It's more like they're just attracted to each other in spite of being on opposite sides of the law, so obviously they're going to make attempts at bridging the gap. And yeah, Batman was a big influence for her becoming more anti-heroic. It's not about "changing" her, it's more about helping her try and embrace her good/empathetic side that he's seen poke through many times, instead of running away from it.
