Hello all, I got this done sooner than I expected, so it's time for another Franco-Belgian storytime.
This time, it's a story by Mathieu Bablet who you may remember from Beautiful Death and Adrastea.
>Several hundred years into the future, mankind lives on a space station ruled over by a multinational with a true cult following. At first glance, everyone seems satsfied with this "perfect society". In this setting, some men struggle to push past their limits and become gods. To do this, they put into place a program designed to create life from nothing in Shangri-La, one of the most hospitable regions of Titan, where they intend to enact their version of the book of Genesis.
It's a fairly long book, but it should fit in this thread. And please, as always, don't hesitate to share any comments, criticism, corrections or suggestion.
Hope you enjoy.
Here's a little trailer, I quite like these, wish English comics had them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Feq4vtjAgeQ
I know they're kinda cheesy, but I like these sorts of openings.
I love the way this guy does detailed corridors, these ones sort of remind me of 2001.
I really think these sci-fi settings are a great fit for him.
I have to say though, the book's not especially subtle.
Anyone reading? Bumps would be very much appreciated.
I may go back and translate these signs in the art, but if I do that, I'll have to do a whole bunch of others or my autism will bug me.
Let's smash you over the head with my point again!
Even in the future, there are frat bro douchebags.

I wouldn't call this cheesy at all. Aside from a tad too much exposition, the opening is great. If its done well then it doesn't matter if its cliche.
No John, no!
>>87350626
Yeah, I guess I do mean cliche rather than cheesy. could be worse, it could have been a freeze-frame 'I bet you're wondering how I got here' scene.
>>87349769
I don't get it.
>>87350165
there's a typo in the first panel
and=>an
>>87350982
Just keep reading, all will become clear.Although he has just straight up said he's been sent a million years into the past.
>>87351311
Thanks.
I just love explosions like this
Where they go down to nothing.
>>87350982
Relativity. You've probably seen pictures of the Eagle Nebula right? From our perspective, they're still there, but in actuality its long since disappeared and we're just seeing the past. I'm assuming that the story will play on space-time and how wonky/funky it becomes depending on your point of reference/origin/speed.
The MC appears to have been transported back in time to witness an event that has already happened. Current thinking about space-time believes that there isn't a past/future per say and that everything is happening at the same time. Maybe something to do with black holes.
Thank you OP for translating and story timing. Fantastic artwork and engaging story.
Reporting in and adding to threadwatcher. Will take a look at it tomorrow, hopefully.
Might take a day or two, afriendkeeps pestering me about some new vidya.
>>87351575
Oooh, what game?
>>87351623
Albion.
Well, that was unexpected.
>>87350645
>peon
What's his name in the original?
This advert, if you couldn't tell, is all about a phone and it's dope features.
Best bit: Stand out from the crowd, get the new TZ-phone 7s.
>>87351710
Art style looks neat
>>87351840
It's the same, I haven't changed it.
>Disgusting
I don't quite get why he's saying that, is he a bit of a racist too? Against race-mixing?
>>87351840
Although it is e acute which seems to have gotten lost somewhere. I'll probably add that in if I can.
>>87351927
The textures are pretty meh, and the UI/worldmap could certainly use some improvemens, but it's still in beta so that might change.
Getting around is slow as molasses and unless you have someone to twink and powerlevel you it'll probably take you several days to get a mount. Since lategame apparently has a fair amount of worldpvp they'll probably not add townportals, unfortunately.
So far it feels rather generic but I've only spent a couple hours on it, powerleveling, so YMMV.
I think John's one of my favourite characters.
>>87352189
I've never found an MMO that I've liked, they all feel too grindy and only seem to have very basic quests. And I normally love seemingly grindy bits in single-player games.
You go, John.
This bit was really fucked, roughest part of the book, in my opinion.
Damn, poor John.
So, everyone loses...
Image contains embedded file bullshit.
So, will it work out? Will they manage to make better choices?
The fact that they worship the company's symbol and the copyright symbol kind of worries me.
I hope someone's enjoyed. Hope this thread stay alive some time. Anything anyone would like to see translated? Suggestions are always good.
>>87349551
twas a good read good scananon,
>>87353875
I'm really liking it, is there somewhere I can buy it? Or is this just a translated floppy?
>>87354347
>>87354335
Glad you enjoyed. No, it's not officially translated, this is just my scanlation. You can buy it in French from comixlogy or amazon though. The physical book is really nice.
>>87349660
looks good, but I'm trying to burn through a few volumes of Sandman right now. Probably won't get to this until it's archived. So thanks in advance
Is there any chance of uploading this to mega or something, OP?
>>87350820
Need to fix that speech bubble in the last panel.
>>87353875
it was good, anon.
Gonna read this tomorrow morning; friendly bump until then.
>>87353875

>>87349806
in a hole in the gum nebula lived a ginger hobbit with a thyroid problem....
>>87350200
>insolence of youth
no motherfucker, the planet was polluted because the older generations refused to change
>>87350549
capitalists are really, really willfully ignorant and stupid. they act like this in real life. that's probably why there's extra exposition about it
>>87355079
It'll be in the win'o after corrections and such, maybe in a week's time or so.
>>87351827
>i'm a dumb bitch that can't understand my own actions
holy shit i'm pissed off now
>>87352199
mine too.
i pretty much hate aisha though. i can't stand impulsive bullshit
>>87354996
>>87355079
You an always go to quadchan to download it
wow. that was very well done.
>>87362256
If I roll my eyes that hard again I'll go blind.
>>87349743
>>87349727
This LITERALLY is taking the plots from The Chronicles Of Riddick 2 and 3
The second one has a planet where in the daytime the sun melts you essentially so they have to outrun it to stay in the night
In the 3rd Riddick is marooned on a random ass planet with wildlife, he tames a dog, makes simple tools, is a badass
>>87364260
>>87364260
a) it's not really a plot point, it's a few pages unrelated to the rest of the book
b) chronicles of riddick didn't invent hot places and being stranded somewhere and surviving
>>87351771
A resounding vote for Trump right there.
>>87352168
Ah, the elevator from Akira, one of the most important visual motifs created during the last century.
>>87365094
And the amazing visual metaphor of nyan cat, truly a great symbol of our time
>>87365094
My immediate thought was Half-Life, but cool to know it originates from Akira
Thanks, OP. I found it to be a strangely fitting story for Halloween.
>>87363301
Or skip the middleman entirely and just use DownThemAll.
Inum mask, grab it all, skim through the images to weed out unrelated bullshit if any, rar it all and rename to cbr.
>>87370124
>>87363301
>>87355079
I mean, you can do all that stuff if you really want, but I'm expecting to do some corrections, after which it'll definitely be in the win'o, so you'd be better served just waiting.
>>87350862
A scene like that might make me vomit
>>87365094
>>87368232
That's just a freight elevator, you monsters
just finished The Children of Captain Grant from Verne and Alexis Nesme, is there more from him in english? Really liked his art and loved the book.
