as someone who read all of Lobo's ongoing and has seen him at his best and worst.
Serious Lobo only works when he is not the main focus and he is either a threat to the main cast or a background character. Solo Lobo only works in that parody/pastiche 2000 AD/Heavy Metal kind of British humor, as if you start taking him seriously he starts to fell a part. So i agree that Lobo needs LEGION/REBELS to a certain degree.
