I'd be more worried about Bendis than Editorial, frankly. He's already trying to butt into Spencer's story by having Jessica Jones be the one that figures everything out over in her ongoing, ontop of fucking the Captain HYDRA story over by changing the ending to CWII thus causing delays thus causing the Cap HYDRA epilogue to be pushed back by months.

Make no mistake, Bendis won't pass up on an opportunity to take someone else's pet project and ruin it.

oh. in that case i can help you out. massive taskmaster fan, my favorite fictional character.

he's got a lot of good one-offs in older stuff [like in the 80s] but honestly none of them are THAT notable. recommendations of mine would be stuff he had a recurring role in or actually built his character backstory a bit


my big hit list for Tasky is -


1. Taskmaster (2002) - It's a bit weeb because it's made by a manga studio but it really shows off his classy side and sets up Agent X

2. Agent X [2002] - A short, but great run by Gail Simone that developed him a lot

3. Avengers: The Initiative [2007] - 2002-2007 was kind of garbage for Taskmaster because they ran that 'lol deadpool is his kryptonite' bullshit into the ground, but Initiative makes it all worth it. Fantastic run showing his pragmatism, morals, and abilities Also leads into his 2010 miniseries.

4. Taskmaster (2010) - A retcon from his 2002 series but beautifully drawn and written and pretty critical to understanding him now

5. Secret Avengers. Vol. 2 (2013) - A great pickup of 'modern ' Task showing how he's pretty decent at his core, a hilarious bromance with Mentallo, and some 10/10 shipteasing with Mockingbird


Those are his big ones I recommend. I'm also cautiously optimistic about Captain America: Steve Rogers as he's been only in two issues so far but they seem to be building up


A couple of one-offs he's also great in, he only pops up for 1 issue but is awesome:


Ant-Man (2015) Issue 3 - He kicks Ant-Man's ass and is hilarious about it

Secret Avengers Vol. 1 Issues 29-30 - Wipes the floor with Venom, leads Hawkeye and Valkyrie on a chase

Deadpool and the Mercs For Money Vol. 1, Issues 2-3 - He has some great art and showings here. He's in issue 4 too, but only to job to Deadpool, so meh.

That's a retcon. In the same comic referenced >>87325524 here, Daredevil goes to visit Tasky in the hospital where he (under arrest) is recovering, and the mask is off, and Daredevil's taking an echo imprint of the guy's face and he's just riddled with plastic surgery damage, all crags and hard angles and it's impossible to tell what he might have looked like originally because he's been altering his features over years. Definitely not what you'd call 'handsome' in that interpretation. Guy looked like a hammered thug you'd see in an underground street fighting club. I wish I had a pic.

I hate when TM loses because most of the time because it generally either goes into the category of "he goes down like a bitch" or "you're just a faker you don't deserve to win."

I like when people either beat him because of their combat style (like early fights with Deadpool) or because they beat him psychologically like when Moon Knight ran him over with a plane and then tanked crossbow bolts to just stare him down.

I love how he beat the Failbolts during Dark Reign with almost no effort, and he did well versus Daken too. Granted Daken was drugged out but I'm glad they at least had TM win there. It would have been so easy to have Daken beat him anyway.

I've loved TaskMaster for a long time and I loved the mini which introduced his memory issues, but I kinda was upset that all those great moments he's had with past foes are forgotten.

I would have had it be a progressive thing. "Damn, I absorbed 100 new alien fighting styles....why...why can't I remember my parent's faces or my first dog?"

I would have it be a harsh management thing, but no all or nothing. I looked at the page with him vs Lang and moments like that with him remembering hanging with Bullseye and past fights. I want at least something to stay in his head.

Either way, I hope it's a good appearance.

i think you'll be happy to hear that's kinda whhat they did with it, you know? Like, it's sorta implied and shown he remembers people he's copied and fought, because with their moves acting as a sort of mnemonic technique, he can trigger his recollection of their encounters. in his encounter with finesse he mentions the reason he's afraid he'll forget her is she has no original moves to copy.

in secret avengers he still had brain problems but he just needed a bit of a kickstart and reminders and then he'd be like "oh, right, mockingbird, we're on the same team, my bad g"

he generally shows recognition of most opponents and he's still pretty much the most reasonable, relaxed guy in the room 90% of the time, so i don't think his head is -totally- empty it was just introduced a little heavyhandedly in the mini.

Sauce? Because there is nothing substantial in the comic itself that points to Zemo being still alive, and the scene with Taskmaster points more to him being suspivious because Steve suddenly kills people in cold blood.

Said it before, will say it again.

Tasky has the potential to be elevated from a D-lister to a Triple-A supervillain threat in the same way that Deathstroke went from a *Teen Titans* villain (right there with such jokes as Dr Light) to a consistent member of Injustice Gangs or Secret Society of Supervillains when all the A-list villains are tossed together.

And it seemed he was heading in that direction until Deadpool writers got ahold of him and made him a joke character. It'll be a decade before that wears off, if ever.

a ton of heroes are free now, and the game's got a pretty rewarding gameplay loop. if you like diablo-likes it's at least worth a shot. it's not quite as polished but also has way more characters/classes.

if you do play, don't neglect your teamup. they're almost as strong as you are when leveled, and people forget all about them.
