It's been years since I've read this, so lets read the original Jurassic Park comic series!
Starting with an adaptation of the first film, and then going into increasingly bonkers sequel storylines. I seem to remember a raptor fighting a gorilla at one point, and a drug lord training a dinosaur army.
That's a pretty strong creative team for a movie tie in.
>>87322847
Walt, Kane and Perez is a godly creative team.
>>87322847
I remember a different adaptation that happened to be a GOLDMINE of reaction images.
>>87324377
I think that was the same one
>>87322847
I think I still have the floppies for this book, as well as Lost World.
Nice storytime OP, I'll read it later.
>>87322847
Thanks OP
This is giving me nostalgia flashbacks to the Jurassic Park coloring book I had as a kid. God, that shit was so dope when I was 7.
>>87324377
It's this same comic
>>87322999
>that front view
C'mon, they aren't even trying to draw a dinosaur
You still there OP?
Is it just me, or does Hammond seem vaguely threatening instead of jolly?
>>87331031
Yes, I'll post more in a bit. Got distracted last night.
Is it me or are these dinosaur designs totally inconsistent from issue to issue?
>>87323104
Hey, it's Johnny Gat!
>>87340668
>>87340712
>>87340959
>>87340962
This make it look like the rex dropped the leg on purpose.
That's it for now - I'll try to dump some more later but after today I'm without internet until Friday, so no promises.
>>87323017
That relationship between Alan and Ellier Satler is a thing of the book or is a comic invention?
>>87342636
In the book she's a grad student working under him (he's a 50 year old burly mountain man) so there's a big age difference and no implied relationship.
>>87342636
It's an invention of the movie. You might have missed it.
>>87344699
Of the comic, in the movie they have only a frienship.
>>87346925
No, they're definitely a couple in the movie. It's a bit more subtle than you'd expect, however. Watch it again and you'll pick up on it.
This...only makes me appreciate the movie more. So I guess it's doing its job?
>>87338903
I haven't looked at the dates, but this kind of stuff is usually done before the release of the movie. Probably all they had to go on was the script, no casting or anything. So, a lot of interpreting and extrapolating and probably some creative license as well, and on top of that scripts can be edited late into the game or even on the fly before actors step onto the set. It's possible they comic team had an older version that took Hammond in a different direction. A good way to tell this would be to see how the final confrontation in the lobby plays out, the original ending had grant using an animatronic t-rex skeleton to kill the raptors, the actual t-rex showing up was a relatively last-minute decision.
And on top of all that if the comic team used the novel to supplement their understanding of the story, that could have influenced things like Hammonds character as well, since in the novel he cuts tons of corners and is a huge asshole.
>>87351480
well >>87322862 says june 93,so a month before the film came out
>>87351480
It's more obvious here
>>87341031
>>87341039
That they didn't have the final script. In the movie Malcolm uses a flare to draw the T-Rex's attention away from the kids. From the looks of things the comic people just used the book version of Malcolm running away to save his own hide.
>>87353182
It was supposed to be like that in the movie, but Goldblum didn't want his character to be such a chickenshit so they changed it during shooting.
>>87323042
kek
>>87323114
Can't stop thinking of this artstyle as a detailed comic version of sealab 2021 style. It really adds to the humor tho
>>87340724
I wanted to be Dr. Ian Malcom as a kid.
>>87347016
I don't see the movie since a long time, but the only indication of not a friendship relation is when Malcom asks Alan if he and Ellie are a couple and Alan says a weak yes. I interpret it like Alan thinking that Malcom is a dick and don't want that he approaches to Ellie.
>>87322936
SHOOT HER!! SHOOOOT HAAAA
thanks OP
>>87357003
dont we all?
>>87357009
Well, there's also the conversation Ellie has with Alan about her wanting kids, specifically a "herd of child Dr. Grants". If they weren't in a relationship, that would be the most direct come-on ever:
"So, Dr. Sattler have you ever thought about having kids of your own?"
"BREED ME NOW, YOU MAGNIFICENT STALLION!"
>>87357009
I think they had a kid in the third one.
>>87358470
Nah, she married someone else because Grant was too busy lusting after raptor skeletons to have a family.
spoiler for things to come
>>87353182
To be fair to book Malcom, the choice between "dying pointlessly via T-Rex" and "not doing that" is a pretty easy one.
>>87358931
I love it when my favorite characters get saved by quasi-canon sequels, even if they're mostly shit.Looking at you, Genisys and Colonial Marines.
>>87359154
yeah the various comics that take place after JP goes to some crazy places.
Kinda a shame TLW comic adaption while having much better art is a literal screen by screen adaption of the movie
bymp
>>87323072
>>87358931
Who was Robert again?
>>87366376
>>87323072
The guy is even named Dogson. This can't be coincidence.
Thanks for the storytime OP.
Is there going to be a new thread or we sticking with this one?
>>87367412
I stuck the rest of it on a USB drive and have phone internet and a USB adapter so I can plug it in.
I'll see if I can continue the dump tonight. I've got no wifi until Friday, but might be able to make it work through mobile. Have fuck all else to do until my wifi is back up.
>>87367482
Can't wait
I love me some Jurassic Park
>>87366427
Bob Peck's character. "Clever girl" and all that.
Let's see if this works then.
>>87369448
Ha ha it does!
>>87369475
>>87369494
>>87369513
>>87369528
That Hammond on page 5 is a reaction image if I ever saw one.
>>87369554
>>87369577
>>87369595
This last issue goes at a hell of a pace. The Rex attack must only be about halfway through the film, but they cram everything after it into this one issue.

>>87369646
>>87369659

Muldoon's rocket launcher is book accurate. He blows the fuck out of some raptors with it, taking limbs clean off.

>Hey, if you're one of the 12 people who haven't seen the movie yet...
Man I guess I'm one of those. I only had this comic adaptation, but later on I managed to see Lost World... which was kind of crap.
I have to put it on my todo list to watch this.
