nigga, it's been 5 days since unity, he was not going to learn flying in this short period of time, i doubt that even if there was no kirbee, the arc would have still focused on just Wally. Thought of the day:
The pace of the comic makes waifufags necessary to keep discussion going. The pace of Endtown has always been slow if you go update by update, even if the real time pace is OK due to the regular and frequent update schedule.
For example, this week we've had Holly enter the dittos (which was fairly obviously going to happen based on last Friday's update), then two updates of the dittos leaving the ship. While the entire events of the week are noteworthy (they've rescued Holly and are heading off the ship), the individual updates aren't. As annoying as the waifufags are, they're needed to keep enough posts on the threads so that they don't fall off page 10.

I think, when it comes to this stuff, we have to remember that if he's writing for anyone besides himself Aaron's probably writing more for the GoComickers than the people here. They're his larger audience, likely larger even than his Patreon.

He's writing for people who read the comic alongside "Garfield" while eating breakfast and who can't remember what happened three pages ago, not people who have assembled enough of his dangling plot threads into a coherent theory tapestry to be able to figure things out in advance.

It really did feel like we were headed for the stadium, especially with the foreshadowing in the cellar with the Pep Cola box, but then the comic just went "Nope, they wandered the streets for an ambiguous amount of time and then got fortuitously collected by a walking plot device". Feels like Aaron decided to cut it short because he suddenly realised he was going to go into overtime and it would conflict with Christmas in Endtown, or possibly because he felt it would be getting even more off-track. I suspect that if it had continued we would have seen Doc trying to minister to people at Pep Stadium who were injured in the process of being collected, and becoming part of Walter's group that way - his character feels like he earned his place in Endtown, not like it was granted to him for turning up.

You could see there was an obvious set up for Kirbee (and probably Chic) to be in their own memory-bubbles too, where we likely would have seen Kirbee's past like Aaron said we were going to, but then he cut even more out, maybe after spending too much time on all the Armageddon stuff.

I think the way to do it all would have been to forego the Christmas thing, but then also trim everything after Lyn's death and/or leave it for Walter's probable flashback, either as stuff Doc would mention after they arrived at Pep park (how he found Holly and mutated) or direct transplants (Farx and the duck guy). Then go straight from Lyn dying to Wally both losing Kirbee and Chic (somehow) and getting angry enough to become The Ditto Lord (because he realises that if Holly's being exposed to this bullshit too it's going to damage her even further). Then have Wally find Holly first, and keep her with him as they travel through Kirbee and Chic's memoryscapes to find them, each one giving Holly some critical perspective on things and how others besides herself have been hurt. Something like that, anyway.

this would have been so much better... i guess people were being too vocal on how much this arc has been dragging. Anyways, doesn't matter now, we will get both flashbacks in the future regardless.

Being honest, I kind of relieved that was cut, having not one but three flashbacks in the same arc? It would have been overwhelming and made the arc way longer that it is already.
Thinking on it, I starting to think that maybe the comic will suffer for having way too much flashbacks specially in the way Aaron does it.

Yeah, the bit with Farx felt like a mismatch with what we were told had happened during Sparkplug's chapter. Before we were told mutants were being sent to collection areas "for their own good", but suddenly in this chapter they're simply being hunted down and shot in the street.

Since Aaron's said he keeps notes and therefore wouldn't do that accidentally, I guess he deliberately bent things to shorten the whole thing. If nothing else it felt like Holly and Doc had somehow skipped ahead in time from "Mutants are nothing but rumour" to "End of the world", somehow missing the "Mutants are a fact, please bring your mutated loved one to the nearest field hospital" stage.

There's also the matter of Aaron telling people on the Gocomics crew that the characters in the flashback were a week away from the end of the world, and then seemingly changing his mind at the last second, and even working that into the plotline, with the nukes happening earlier than predicted.
