Karkat was refereed to once very explicitly has having a role in the new world.
Given their omnipotence this MUST be true, so either: he rises to a new task OR this is the wrong timeline.
IF this is the wrong timeline than an increasing distraught John is a good sign. John's powers effectively give him a mainline into the narrative which would be the perfect reason as to why things don't feel 'right'

Alone these two events, a fall and a prophesy are tenuous. Together they prove that something else is at play.

The re-population, the victory/return celebrations, John's first party, the wedding, and the other characters living chill lives together are all very happy and uplifting things, but it winds down into depressing as it focuses on the passage of time, shit being fucked out in the void, and Terezi and John.
