What does /co/ think of this show?
I think the show had the potential to be a great, epic, tightly-written fantasy adventure if it they got someone like, say, Greg weisman to write it, rather than the guy who later did the Walking Pleb (Matt negrete)
As it was, it was pretty mediocre, generic show that reeks of dated mid 00s cheese (the slang especially), though it does have a certain charm to it

The creators had some great ideas, but it sounds like they were stifled by the network.
One idea was, Jake was supposed to slip into "street talk" whenever he got cocky and was about to do something stupid. Producers made him talk like that ALL THE TIME in season one.
To say nothing of the battle with S&P every time they wanted Jake to use his powers on anything but a fire place.
Was Rose waifuable, or was she just a generic Mary Sue?
I learned how to love a woman from an ADJL fanfiction. Good times

Yes

Not bad, not good, overall nothing special. Only worth watching when there was no competitor on.

2nd season was much better because less street talk, better animation, better music, and better writing.

Wish we would have learned a bit more about Lao Shi's past. Like what happened to Susan's mother. Also the origin of the Dark Dragon. In season one apart from the coloring, he looked a lot like Jake's dragon form meaning they could possibly be related? Could be recycled animation, I don't know. But here's a side by side comparison of season 1 DD and the same picture colored to look like Jake.

It was really REALLY badly hurt by trying to make the characters hip with kids.
It made the dialogue pretty terrible.
The humor was a bit too lowbrow too. Too reliant on obvious pratfalls and the occasional body humor.
Also, Foo Dog was prototype Jake from AT.
But I watched it. Unlike Juniper Lee, it had an interesting magical world with established legitimate threats.
Also, it made fun of Donald Trump. That isn't even political, mocking the guy has always made me laugh. Even fucking Where My Dogs At got points for taking shots at him, and that was basically their only good joke.

You talking about Eli Pandarus? The guy who owned magical beauty pageants and wanted to marry the winner.

I thought he was a parody of Home Alone 2.
>>87240899
Apparently he was voiced by Jonathan Freeman (Jafar).

How?
I enjoyed it back when it was on. Did some worldbuilding as it went on, and I'm always a sucker for that. Beyond that, it was never offensively bad, just mediocre.
And as for the animation shift between seasons, I actually find the later seasons to be better. Took getting used to, but I feel it gave some of the characters more, well, "character."

It was a Back To The Future 2 parody ya gits.

But dystopian Biff was based on Trump.
>>87241143
Most people here are too young to realize that Trump has been made fun of for almost 40 years now.
>>87241143
Was Trump even born yet when BTTF2 came out?
>>87241470
He was in his forties when the movie came out.
>>87241470
Trump is 70 anon. BTTF2 was released 27 years ago, making him 43 at the time.

What has the creator of the show been up to these days?

I love Susan fat ass
I liked it more once it did the art style change.
