Remember when you first discovered Homestuck?

It was early 2011. I was in ninth grade. I didn't have a lot of friends or hobbies or anything. I was in a really bad place.

And then I heard about this thing called "Homestuck".

It took me weeks of solid reading (I finally caught up around Dave: Break), but I finally did. And it was incredible. I loved these characters, and I loved their interactions. I loved how they bounced off each other. I loved their voices and their actions. And I loved the world they inhabited. When the Wayward Vagabond ascended, I remember how blown my mind was at the comic's newfound scale in space and time. When John entered the first Gate, and we finally got our first glimpse of the Land of Wind and Shade, it was blown again. I had never read anything like it.

I remember the hype leading up to Cascade, across the first big hiatus. I remember not being able to watch it when it came out, since Homestuck fans had inadvertently launched a denial of service attack on every site hosting it. I remember finally seeing it, and my mind being blown all over again. The way the panel expanded, the way all the plot threads were woven together, the dozen-plus minutes of nonstop stuff - significant stuff - happening was astounding.

I made a few online friends of my own through a mutual love of the comic, all of whom I've long since lost touch with. I remember speculating about which twist and turn the comic would take next, and cursing the name of Hussie when we were wrong. I remember fanart and fanfic and hype and chatter.

And I remember watching it all decay.

And all that's left is this.

They loved each other for simple reasons, and that's what made the romance believable, at least to me. Honestly, I'm not so autistic as to be super butthurt about it; I'm more angry that DaveKat just came out of nowhere and fucked up arguably the two best characters.
