And if they're really insanely popular then their solo series might stick around for a long time. Fantastic Four matters and The Thing matters. It's just that Fantastic Four can sell comics and The Thing can't, take that how you will.

Hell, Even Agent Venom has probably been in 100 issues. His solo series had 42 issues, (plus 13 from Spaceknight) and he's been on the secret Avengers, Thuunderbolts, and had plenty of crossover appearances. That must be close to 100 by this point, right?
