We know how Marvel likes to brag about how they have 5000 characters or so, but how many of them are actually in at least 100 issues?
>>
>>87201970
The Angel, a dude from the Golden Age who was just a bad clone of Superman, is in 100+ issues.

Jubilee has been in nearly 500 comics.

Paste Pot Pete has been in 150+.

They have a lot of fucking characters and use them a shitload, anon.
>>
Cable and Deadpool are the only newish characters from the past 20 years to make it to 100.
>>
How ?? CHARACTER ยป X-23 appears in 1340 issues.
>>
>>87201970
Marvel has had tons of team books so it's pretty easy for them to have a shitload characters (who are otherwise pretty minor) with a lot of issue appearances.

>>87204327
Pixie was created in 2004 and Kamala and her friends are well on their way to 100 or already passed it.
>>
>>87204327
http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Hisako_Ichiki_(Earth-616)

Right off the top of my head. Don't spout bullshit.

>>87204329
Wolverine shows up in every comic ever. So does Girl-Wolverine.
>>
>>87204496
He was probably thinking OP meant characters with their own books. In which case he's still wrong because Mayday Parker.
>>
>>87204440
Kamala's been in just short of 120 books.

That's about five books a month since her inception, which is pretty damn impressive.
>>
>>87204536
Well that's just silly, Marvel doesn't LET characters get to 100 issues.
>>
>>87204583
Yeah but like accumulating over many volumes.
For instance Deadpool has probably been in like 200 issues with his name on them even though none of his series have made it to 100.
>>
>>87204329
>Laura has only been around for a decade.
>Has been in 1/4 as many books as Peter Parker.

Either Marvel is more conservative with Peter than I realized or that is an impressive level of whoring.
>>
>>87204628
Even then, asking for new characters to reach that is silly since it takes a long time to accumulate that many issues.

Unless you're asking for Marvel to put out three solos for every new character, you're looking at nearly eight years.

>Sexy rat lady
>bad
>>
>>87204667
It's doable though, eight years is a lot less than twenty. They just haven't had a hit character since then. I mean we'll see where Spider-Gwen and Kamala are six years from now, but yeah.
>>
>>87204667
Even "hit" characters aren't guaranteed 8 years of uninterrupted, self-titled ongoings. That's just silly and devalues characters for literally no reason.

Not to mention 100 is such an arbitrary number for judging things to begin with.
>>
>>87204817
Whoops, meant for
>>87204768
>>
>>87201970

100 issues is a very low bar to set, anon.
>>
>>87204273
I didn't think The Angel had any super powers?
>>
>>87204817
I don't know how it would devalue them, if the character is good and the book is well written then people will read them. Every hit character Marvel created in the 60s and who've never had a break in publishing must be really devalued by now.
>>
>>87201970
Kamala has been around for about three years now and already had over 100 appearances.
>>
>>87204635
Well there are more X-men than Spider-man books these days. If she was part of a cross-over or other X-men event that's an extra 2-5 books a month compared to spider-man.
>>
>>87204851
He didn't.
He was still a blatant Superman ripoff meant to take attention away from Action Comics.

Kids clearly didn't like him all that much, but they kept him in the books for ages.
>>
>>87201970
>Mutant X in pic

if you're referencing the tv show, you should know there was a 33 or so issue run with Havok called "Mutant X" that was published 1999 to 2001. had three annuals. wasn't bad if you like havok or alternate timeline stuff
>>
>>87204895
I'm saying you're devaluing them by implying they must be in self-titled books for it to "matter" for some unspecified reason.

Like, fuck, I guess the Fantastic Four don't matter, Thing hasn't been in 100 self-titled issues.
>>
>>87204949
That wasn't what I was implying at all though. I don't care one way or the other whether a character gets a solo series. But if a character is popular they do get them eventually. And if they're really insanely popular then their solo series might stick around for a long time. Fantastic Four matters and The Thing matters. It's just that Fantastic Four can sell comics and The Thing can't, take that how you will.
>>
>>87205128
(cont.) Although on second thought Ben has been in over 100 self-titled issues if you count Marvel Two-in-One.
>>
>>87201970
I don't think Howard has that many appearances, and people still love him.
>>
>>87205128
>The Thing can't sell comics.
I'm glad to hear you literally don't know what you're talking about and are just blindly following whatever I say.

http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Marvel_Two-In-One_Vol_1

The Thing held a non-self titled Team-Up series for 100 issues. He then held a self-titled for almost 40 issues.
>>
>>87205243
>>87205193
Whew, I fact checked myself faster than you did. That was close, jesus. Don't scare me like that.
>>
>>87205243
WELL I SURE LOOK STUPID NOW.

>>87205193
Point is, the title doesn't mean shit. A character can sell books without being the headliner, it's a completely silly thing to stipulate.

Iron man
>>
>>87201970
What they don't tell you is that roughly half of them are au versions of their main characters ans another third have less than 10 appearance.
>>
>>87205128
Freakshow was good.
>>
Hell, Even Agent Venom has probably been in 100 issues. His solo series had 42 issues, (plus 13 from Spaceknight) and he's been on the secret Avengers, Thuunderbolts, and had plenty of crossover appearances. That must be close to 100 by this point, right?
