Which company did he influence more?
>>87201400
Marlel. DC if you want something different.
>>87201400
Marvel for sure.
Comics as a medium. No one has been as influential.
Dude basically made Marvel.
>>87201509
>No one has been as influential.
I want to hit you in the mouth.
>>87202732
Name one person more influential to comics than Kirby. It should make for a good laugh.
>>87203159
Carl Barks
Will Eisner
Hergé
>>87203159
Joe Simon.
Osamu Tezuka if foreign comics count.
He did way more important shit for Marvel. They wouldn't exist without him.
>>87201400
Marvel.
Though his best work was with DC.
>>87201400
He created Marvel but ended up having a bigger influence on DC.
Is this really a serious question?
>>87203507
>people really believe this
>>87203659
>Dude New Gods LMAO
>>87203814
>dude Inhumans LMAO
Crestwood/Mainline, since he and Joe Simon were basically the creative force behind the company's best selling years.
>>87203259
>>87203461
All influential, but I don't see what world you're living in where they match up to the impact that Kirby made.
Tezuka maybe, but only for the Japanese scene, which is largely separate from the Western comic scene.
>>87203659
The Fourth World is his ultimate epic.
>>87203880
>Manga
>Separate from the Western scene
>20fucking16
Maybe if it was still 1994, mate.
>>87204016
Some Western comics make their way to Japan, but their presence is small.
>>87201400
DC.
Marvel lost the "kirby style" like a million years ago, sure he imported and created lots od characters for marvel but IMO DITKO had a longer lasting impact on the way the comics are
>>87204247
Yeah, most Western comics outside of the most basic capestuff don't make much of an impact in Japan.
The reverse doesn't hold, however. Manga bleeds into the West constantly, to the point that shit that Scott McCloud had to explain back in the late 80's are now implicitly understood by small children, like anime sweatdrops and snotbubble sleeping.
Even ignoring that, the Eastern comics market is a far, far larger beast than the Western market. Tezuka has far more influence than Kirby. We live in a world where Goku is nearly as iconic as Superman, for fuck's sake.
>>87204247
the adventures of obese Superman?
>>87204704
worse thats large hands yaoi superman
>>87201400
Well he created most of Marvel's primary roster of heroes, including but not limited to the Fantastic Four, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor, and the X-Men, plus a lot of their more iconic villains like Dr. Doom, Magneto, Galactus, Loki, the Skrulls, the Kree and even Thanos took some inspiration from his works.
>>87204704
>I'm not familiar with comic books.
>>87204359
>Goku is nearly as iconic as Superman
>>87201400
Good question. Really makes you think.
Gonna say DC 'cause Fourth World is some of the most innovative, bonkers, and highly-crafted shit in this whole medium.
Still not as influential a cartoonist as Harvey Kurtzman, though.
t. loves Kirby and Kurtzman
>>87204704
>Shitting on Superman For All Seasons
Fuck you.
>>87204247
>The Death Ray
Color me surprised.
>>87204247
>Top left.
Sauce?
>>87212897
See >>87212080.
As much as I love his work fine DC, Marvel is the house that Kirby built.
>I'll never see Imagawa make a homage to Kirby Giant Robot style.
If anyone else gets what that would be you're a cool guy.
