>>Comics aren't selling, only 8 comics made it to the top 50 in September

September 2016 sales for Marvel including all trades, GNs and floppies were 2,506,125 units @ $14,547,620 ($5.80/unit mean average)

September 2015 sales for Marvel including all trades, GNs and floppies were 2,382,500 units @ $14,809,311 ($6.22/unit mean average)

September 2016 sales for DC including all trades, GNs and floppies were 3,541,175 units @ $16,924,349 ($4.78/unit mean average)

September 2015 sales for DC including all trades, GNs and floppies were 1,645,000 units @ $11,790,333 ($7.16/unit mean average)

If you don't understand what DC has done to itself you really shouldn't be shitposting unaccompanied on the internet.
>>
>>87193871
>>87192850
tl;dr DC used to have a small market share and solid sales comparable to those of Marvel in cost terms - unit costs would go up and down each year but remained relatively stable overall.

Now they appear to have massively reduced unit costs and increased sales, meaning they put out more than twice as many books for a dollar gain of just 41%, assuming those sales are final. DC has just six titles in September 2016's top 20 that were non-returnable - two of them Flash, two of them Superman, two of them Batman. The Batman books in particular haven't increased sales at all since DC's market share increased - they're right where they were in 2011 after New 52, indicating the overall popularity of DC hasn't changed as Batman is, as it's been for the past 5 years, the top of the table.

The likelihood is that DC's experiment in returnable titles is going to come to a sudden end (indeed, September saw double-shipping Action Comics move from returnable to non-returnable, while the artificial price-drop on titles is also due to come to an end, which should at least save DC's bottom line if they can manage to keep Batman's sales up when it returns to $3.99). They've more than doubled printing costs but without any notable gain financially or any wider market penetration beyond the direct market.

In the top 50 for September, Marvel had 10 titles (20%), DC had 39 (78%), but of those the non-returnable issues were just 15 titles (30%), with 9 returnable titles (18%) in DC's lineup being #1s, which always receive higher speculative orders from retailers before dropping off in later months.

The average spec order for DC #1s in September 2016 was about 72k, indicating generally low confidence among retailers.

Back to /tv/ shill.
This faggot has been spamming KINO/NU MALE threads for months

Ignore and report.
>>
>>87193881
>>87192850
The Batman yardstick is interesting too.

In 2016, September saw Batman selling 274,438 units (issues 6+7 combined) at $2.99, for $820,569.62 (of which DC likely saw 66%, as retailers don't pay cover price).

September 2015 saw Batman selling 114,409 on the regular title (at an eye-watering but irregular price of $4.99) for $570,900.91; but it also sold an Annual from the same line at the same anus-destroying price 80,684 times, for an additional $402,613.16, or combined 195,093 issues (71% of the 2016 unit sales) for $973,514.07 (119% of the 2016 dollar value).

In other words, even the market leader for the past five years is now doing 30% more work for 20% fewer dollars, because of DC's Rebirth policy. Sure, at Batman's regular cover price in recent years ($3.99) these losses are less pronounced than for September, but it's still hurting.

Batman itself has only just returned to direct-only from returnable status this September, having been returnable since the Rebirth #1 issue. Sales have been dropping off steadily since then, indicating that even this behemoth of sales cannot encourage growth in the market.

As a consumer this may or may not be something you enjoy, but for DC it's disastrous. They've wiped out the value of their most valuable title, and have nothing to show for it but a returnable books policy which is already coming to an end after just three months because it doesn't work.

Just reboot desu

If you read the reviews the vast bulk of praise is for the visuals.

I'm guessing it's going to be a beautifully made film with lots of amazing visuals but mediocre plot and dialogue.

Which basically sums up the Dr. Strange comics to me, but I was never a fan.

that doesnt mean he isnt right, the MCU has been loosing more money each year since Avengers. Even with Spiderman CW failed to beat.
>>
>>87195717
Spiderman, ironman, black panther and captain America failed to make more than ironman 3. Damn
>>
>>87195717
I'm pretty sure most companies would sacrifice children if their movie could make over a billion each year.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that a huge new kind of film like Avengers would make a shit ton of money and then everything else sorta like it would have diminishing returns. But again, 1.1 billion and 12th highest grossing film of all time is nothing you look at with an ounce of negativity attached to it.

Come back to me after Infinity War hits, then we could actually have a debate.

Marvel has always been shit, skating by on good creators like Kirby, Starlin, Gerber etc. who managed to slip through the editorial cracks and actually create quality comics. Pro tip though, they all eventually got fucked over by Marvel and left to DC.
