Well /co/, I'm officially dropping paranatural. It seems like Zack the Hack is actually getting worse, his art is shit ever since he went digital. His pacing is atrocious, I mean what do we know about the plot after like 4 years? Something spooky is happening in Mayview. That's it. I'm done and not even the waifus in the first panel can help
>>
Also I know this is from Friday, I just read it today so I want to what people think
>>
This comic started out so fucking good. Just goes to show what happens when you care more about pandering to an audience (or go out of your way to reject another audience) than telling a good story.
>>
>>87192505
I've tried to drop it 3 times now.
But I keep coming back to find it worse and worse.
If I'm going to have to put up with a stupid lesbian supblot involving an insufferable Sue and yet anoth "blushing dork", I should at least get some porn out of it.

But no, it's all pedo shit.
>>
>>87192505
Yeah I've been considering it too. But it's part of my webcomic routine and it's something I'm used to look forward to, so I can't help but check the updates even when I'm always disappointed.

People like to talk shit about Homestuck, but Paranatural is the prime example of "what not to do with your comic".
>>
That whats-his-name brain ghost better be the second in command of the last boss or whatever for all the time this comic has spent on this arc.
>>
>>87192661
It's a fucking spy minion. Seriously, what the fuck was that Hitball shit?
"Oh no, we have to play by the SPORTS rules so that we don't get caught!"
*they start doing paranormal shit anyway*
*nobody is surprised*
"Oh no, we totally NEED to keep playing by the rules!!!"
That arc was so fucking dumb.

>Max throws a ball to the other side and hits the ball golem.
>All the people realize in unison that it means that Jeff has no balls left.
>EVEN THOUGH THEY ALL SAW HOW MAX THREW THE BALL.
>>
>>87192505
OP, we all know as soon as Zack gets back to the main plot you will start to read it again.
>>
>>87192677
there is some degree of normality that they must pass, anon. Hijack using his powers to look stronger doesn't make it acceptable to start flying around or some shit
>>
>>87192748
And does that justify that they have to play by the rules? If they all realize Jeff is a spooky monster, they might as well stop playing and immobilize him or something. This adherence to the rules of the game was stupid.
>>
>>87192708
that's called being 12 years old.
>>
>>87192778
>f they all realize Jeff is a spooky monster, they might as well stop playing and immobilize him or something
and how exactly will they explain stopping the game and immobilizing a student? it was very clear they wanted it to pass as a normal occasion.
>>
>>87192505
I was reading this then i dropped it at the end of the first chapter. I'd wait for years before reading it again so i can eat it all in one go. I looked promising at the time. What happened?
>>
What the fuck happened to this comic
why does everything look so tasteless now?
What the fuck is happening. Nothing is happening yet nothing makes any sense.
>>
>>87193062
Probably a need to keep patreon money flowing. They won't make it interesting in fear of triggering someone and losing a patron, and they won't take a story to its destination cause they need to keep the money flowing as long as possible.
>>

Time, as the comic became more popular he had to start to align the comic with the views of those that would most likely pay him. In all honesty his pandering wouldn't be so bad if just knew how to pace the chapters. Chapters 1 and 2 are a little under 50 pages, the ghost train chapter was like 200 and took about a year to finish, during which he introduced 2 characters and killed them off. 5this one is looking to be longer by far. Also, op here the only reason I started reading was because of Suzy, she deserves way more screentime than ed, me wacky but actually emo. I suspect this will go the way of Ava's demon and die within the next 2 years. In brighter news unsounded will be back in like 2 months
>>
That's what happens if you associate yourself with Homestuck and Hussie.
>>
Wait didn't you guys love this comic like 6 months ago? What happened?
>>
>>87192505
Who honestly cares about these two? I don't think before this date we'd seen them for nearly 2 years, and the last thing this fucking thing needs is more main characters and more plot lines with years before they matter.

If he wants to write about them he should do a spin off about the consortium rather than further delaying the hijack plot for a 2 month long lesbian date that has yet to have any payoff.
>>
>>87194260
That's what happens with recurring threads and long-running comics. People were voicing dissatisfaction up to a year ago in slowly growing numbers, but the fans kept defending it because they're fans. It took a huge mistake, like "focusing on two characters dating as a cheap and easy diversity score in the middle of an already long chapter" huge, to get the fans to forsake their hope and admit that problems are present.

After enough people decided it had gone south, others hopped on the bandwagon and consensus swung to "this comic is not good."

That's just how /co/ is. I was criticizing it since before the Ghost Train chapter ended, but popular opinion didn't really start turning until Hitball had been finished for a month and things were still dragging.
>>
What was the point of Hitball?

Zack had been reading Japanese sports anime?
>>
>>87192505
I stopped reading almost as soon as the train ride ended. To me, the sudden drop in quality was like night and day, and I'm amazed by how sharp and far the fall was. It's like all of Zack's skill with both characterization and pacing just vanished. I guess Eightfold wasn't the only cherished thing lost to the train ride.

What caused him to drop the comments section of the webcomic? Why did he stop coming to /co/? I remember him being really open to feedback in the past and eager to comment and talk with people. That was part of why I loved Paranatural to begin with. He also liked seeing people figure out little clues and things he worked into the comic and was amazed at how quickly /co/ would figure it out.
>>
>>87199069
when he joined the fucked up little cabal known as the hiveworks network.
>>
>>87199146
Joining Hiveworks didn't stop Brad from keeping a comment section for Blaster Nation (rest in peace). Oh well. I don't even remember anything bad happening in Zack's comment section. I can't even recall any hiatus periods that would warrant people ganging up asking for a new update. I recall hitball taking a long time but there was generally at least an update every week.

>What caused him to drop the comments section of the webcomic?

>Hey guys. After thinking about it a lot and going back and forth for the past few weeks, I decided to remove comments on the site a few days ago, as you may have noticed. The comments posted on pages that weren't out yet were a big factor- they made things messy, fixing them was a mess, and the fix didn't clean up the ones that had already been made- as was the thought of similar tech problems in the future. I also didn't have time to moderate comments when conversations were getting heated, and absolutely do not want people having a bad time or getting stressed and angry under the page. I figured that was a problem that was only going to get worse as the number of people reading Paranatural grows, and that that growth would outpace my and you guys' ability to keep things lighthearted and fun.
