This chapter was starting to lag for me a bit. Started really strong with the watercolor art style and faerie influence on Jeanne...then threatened to get spread too thinly over so many characters pushed into the action.

But then Siddell delivers this image and this focus for the action. And makes it a cliffhanger.

forgive me for bringing it up, but it's like the tau and the warp. the tau have such a small warp presence that the various daemons have a very hard time manipulating them. a godly powerful being could make an impression (the chaos gods or the emperor) but it wont be anywhere near as much as someone who is attuned to the warp would see.
another analogy would be like spraying water on something. the more etheric accepting something is the more it will soak it up.


the other possibility is that kat's godhood means that anything short of massive mind destroying amounts of etheric energy just bounce off her. because it's hard for a lesser demon to impress a god.

Kat is basically a god, but her nature as a god has some uniqueness to it.

She is the mother, and angel, of an entire race. All of the robots who worship her are becoming biological, and tied to the ether (those that die shape the ether with their dying thoughts... and soon robots at large will be able to die true deaths).

She is their religion. Because the ether is influenced retroactively (Jones existed before humans, etc.) she is both a girl with no perception of the ether, while also being a goddess. Her ability to be able to understand and manipulate any technology may be linked to the idea that the court robots think she can (each time she impresses them they think more of her, a positive feedback loop).

Given how she is viewed by the robots it's likely that her angelic nature is quite powerful. I'd say maybe Coyote tier.

I think you overestimate her power. it still took several ether syphons and zimmy's reality warping for kat to do some bare-hands creation. Normally she's just one mad scientist among many in the court.

Note that the psychopomps are also faith-powered. People believe in personified death. So there's personified death in all flavors. That doesn't mean they're a big deal. They even get slaughtered by murderghost.

Psychopomps aren't a big deal because they are guides, not causes of death. They personify the transition of death, not the actual cause of it.

Kat doesn't have an awareness of her own abilities, and she has a disconnect from them (maybe because she is still alive? maybe because she doesn't believe in the ether?). We don't know what the extent of her power would be, because we don't know what the robots will believe about her quite yet. She just has a lot of faith behind her (and a high place in their "religion") so it could end up pretty high up there.

It's as simple as installing fuses between the connections. Computer CPUs don't have that because the surge protection is supposed to be outside the computer using pic related.

We saw in New Data that Robot's organic arm was connected to him with a big box and Kat made a point of how sensitive the roboflesh is. Her letting it blow out a robot's system is silly.
