And yet they pretty much adapted the whole story faithfully. The Killing Joke is so fucking short that 60% of the graphic novel is just random cover art.
They needed to expand it or the movie would have been 30 minutes.

I think personally they should have made the disconnect between the two more obvious. Like at the beginning title sceen say "PART I" and after Batgirl's prologue have a hard cut to black that says "PART II" when the actual adaptation starts. Bruce Timm said they wanted them to be two different stories, it would have been better if that was made even more clear.

Things I'd personally change,
>Make Paris less of a creep, TKJ is already pretty uncomfortable with it's treatment of women. If you want to expand her past an object to be sexually abused, don't make her new villain one who tries to grope her, fucks her lookalike, and jokes about her periods.
>Remove the sex, end the fight with just a hug and have Babs decide to give up on her own because she can't keep up with Bruce's stoicism.
>Integrate Babs' prowess with computers into the plot somehow, make it seem logical that she goes on to become Oracle.
>Make the flashbacks look more like the 80s and not the 1940s, to match the present's new time period.
>Make Joker singing look less like a musical number.
>Stop hiring Koreans to animate, I watched the credits.

Overall though I didn't mind it, I liked the prologue because it' always fun when Batman goes up againt non-super villains.

Bruce x Babs has always been a thing in Timm's work, whether you like it or not. The prologue of TKJ is Timm's work, and with the more adult rating he was able to manifest it in a more direct way then he had before.

It's been a part of Bruce and Babs' relationship in Timm's work since the 90s. It's not really surprising to see it here.

Not trying to defend it, just saying that's it's always kind of been a thing with Bruce Timm's interpretation of the characters. In the end he's the reason I fell in love with Batman as a kid despite never really caring for superheroes. I think Timm has earned the right to go against previously established relationships.

There were hints that Dick liked Barbara in the 70's BATMAN FAMILY title, but that was quickly killed off, specially because Dick already had a girlfriend back in college and later because he hooked up with Starfire, all of this was Barbara was engaged with Jason Bard.

But then the cartoons happened and Dixon started to have Barbara show up in NIGHTWING, which readers liked more than Dick's current girlfriend at the time. Thanks to that Dick's girlfriend vanished from the book and Babs started to show up more and more we Dixon slowly teasing a romance between them.

Barbara age was retconned only in NIGHTWING ANNUAL #2 and BATGIRL: YEAR ONE.

I actually liked it, but mostly because it was a break from the recent animated Batman movies and didn't have that faggot Damian.

To be honest, i don't mind Batman/Batgirl pairing for the same reason i didn't minded the Robin/Batgirl pairing. I find it cute and hot pairings where there is a huge age gap.
