Maybe in the film he'll wear it as a stealth suit.
>>
>>87161854
Comic movies are too ashamed of their roots: you're never going to get the iconic costumes on-screen because they're not "marketable". Best you can hope for is some kind of brief cameo like this or the one from Suicide Squad.
>>
>>87162335
Nothing to do with shame. It just doesn't look good at all

From a practicality standpoint, it's GOAT.

>barely existing ears
Yeah, because suddenly adding 6 inches to a 6ft tall man means he has to bend over to get through any doorway.

>no yellow logo
Bright colors attract attention.

>all black and grey with no blue
Grey is a mute color that doesn't draw attention. Only the accents, symbol, cowl, and cape are black which eliminates the human form and breaks up his silhouette.

>even the belt isn't yellow
Bright colors attract attention.

>fat bat
Extra armor plating over vitals = fat bat.

It's a fantastic suit. My only gripe and agreement with your points is the lack of blue.

>>
>>87168601
No, they're a huge part of his character. Almost every version has them besides live action. They add a feel of mystery, you can't tell what he's thinking or how he's feeling, it's like he's not a regular person. It dissociates him from Bruce Wayne in a unique way.
>>
>>87162335
What about Thor? Vision? Both kept their original looks. Even Strange kept the look, and Cap if you don't count the little ear wings.

Hawkeye and Wanda and the obvious examples of what you said, but the rest are pretty true to their roots.
>>
>>87168658
>No, they're a huge part of his character.

I would've accepted that as an excuse if this wasn't done with shit tons of other masked heroes. It's a shitty looking gimmick that was probably born of laziness from some jackoff illustrator in the 40s not feeling like adding pupils and iris.
>>
>>87164307
Yes, there's no way an adult writer doing a comic book and spandex super heroes with silly names would want to discuss these important issues with children in hopes that their generation grows up better than his own.
>>
>>87168658
Batman is the one character that has to have gear that can be explained using real-world technology because he is just a man. In order to remain immersed his fanbase demands a real-world translation. Permanent white eyes on the cowl aren't practical because it limits his field of vision. If they are part of a tech system (like his sonar sensors in Batman Forever or TDK) it makes sense, but to have them always on would be impractical.

>It dissociates him from Bruce Wayne
If that were true he wouldn't leave his mouth and chin exposed.
>>
>>87168577
They did the white eyes in The Dark Knight
>>
>>87161854
Have you seen any of the X-men films? Whenever they try to reproduce the costumes it looks pretty terrible. Might be a budget thing, or their costume people are just incompetent.

I think a good designer can make relatively faithful costumes work, but it requires a lot of skill, and some costumes just don't translate without a lot of reworking. Even the comics tend to redesign costumes every once and a while because they often age badly, and most of them were originally designed without any consideration of realism.
>>
>>87161854
Comic-accurate superhero costumes would be super silly.
>>
>>87168730
It was actually started by the Phantom. It was inspired by Greek statues, apparently. And while you're entitled to your opinion, it's an artistic design choice, not laziness, an lots of people like the way it looks.
>>
>>87168801
Not really, no.
When people talk about white eyes they mean something more like Deadpool or Black Panther.
>>
>>87168730
I knows it's subjective but I think it looks cool.
>>87168777
You could say it's a visor, feeds info, records, night vision stuff like that. Also I think someone's eyes give more of their character than their chin
>>87168801
Well that and the mech in BvS were more just like bright eyes, I was talking like a flat white screen.
>>
>>87168973
>You could say it's a visor, feeds info, records, night vision stuff like that.
Also impractical. Ever wear bi-focals? The line separating the reading lense from the normal lense is very, very distracting. HUD are like that, only more distracting since it's displaying info instead of just being an annoying line. It's just not practical in real life.
>>
>>87169315
>practical real life
>uses mech suits
>grappling hook that if it was in real life would tear his arm out of its socket
>bullet proof thin cowl that makes sure his brain isn't scrambled from the force.
If people can buy this they could buy a visor with a hud. Come on man, haven't you heard of suspension of disbelief? Bats uses tons of tech that wouldn't work in real life, not being practical is not a good reason. A hud was used in the arkham games and the dark knight, it's fine.
>>
>>87168601
Well is him wearing eye make up less stupid?

>>
>>87168506
>Yeah, because suddenly adding 6 inches to a 6ft tall man means he has to bend over to get through any doorway.
Adding two inches, or just one more to those existing ears would have been more than enough and still would have made your point moot.

>No yellow logo argument "'Cuz muh color attention."
Dude...Batman put that symbol there as a nice shiny target to fuck with criminal's heads and give them false hope that they could shoot him in the heart. It's comic-canon. Learn you some history, child.

>Grey and blue argument.
Not gonna lie, you're right about that part. I mean, seriously? Blue?

>Duh bright yellow, doh.

>>
There was definitely a video shot of Hugh Jackman in a cheap dimestore yellow spandex suit way back in the first movie. It was on a behind the scenes DVD feature or something. I can't find it because my google fu is weak, or else nobody decided it was cool enough to archive.

All of your greentext is based on real tech.
>uses mech suits
DARPA lifting

>grappling hook that if it was in real life would tear his arm out of its socket
Different iterations have the hook work differently:
Miller's was a bat-shaped piece of metal on a rope that Bruce had to throw himself.
BTAS was just a line-launcher, not a self-retracting line.
Nolan's was a line-launcher and a belt-mounted winch.
Really, only Batfleck, Burton, and Schumacher are responsible for this oversight.

And there's these:

>A hud was used in the arkham games and the dark knight, it's fine.
As parts of a situational tool, not a permanent fixture. It doesn't make sense to constantly have a screen in front of your face unless you're a military pilot. Boots on the ground need to be able to focus on the finer details of their surroundings.
>>
>>87169839

Makes it easier for the actor to convey emotion (which is a big factor for their performance) and I can tell what they're looking at without them having to turn their head. Which, in Batman's case is something pretty important since none of them can do that except for Bale because of shit costume designing.

I think what he means with that one is that, if Batman is falling off a building, and then uses the line launcher in midair, there's no realistic way he could come to a stop without ruining his arm. Whether or not the line launcher has a powered retraction system isn't really relevant.

Also, his gliding cape is completely impossible but that one is relatively new.

Again, different iterations have the hook work differently. Sometimes it's a clamp, sometimes it's a bat-shaped pieve of metal, sometimes it's a magnet...you get the picture.

SWAT teams use a multi-pronged hook for rappelling, firefighters use a steel hook for rappelling, the military uses their "Grabber" hook for tactical methods of entry - it's not uncommon for a hook to give you access to areas that are otherwise unreachable.

But batman is usually ominous and mysterious, as far as performance goes conroy was able to be the best Batman with only his voice. Batman's an outsider, anti-social most people find it hard to get a read on him, they're not supposed to be able to read his emotions so why should we? that's his character. Affleck's a good actor I think his body language and voice(that's if they don't continue to mess it up with a laughable modulator) could carry his performance.
>>
>>87167947
>Cause cosplay exists, it looks fucking silly no matter how they try it

Well shit.
>>
>>87170219

It requires you to accurately judge distance to the ground, and also somehow be well-practiced and experienced enough to not make any mistakes even though in order to practice you would have to jump off tall buildings and never make any mistakes or you die.

Also as far as I can tell that graph is assuming he opened his cape as soon as he jumped off the building. If he waited a few seconds, so that he could start gliding 75 m above the ground, the curve would look different due to a higher initial velocity, which would throw all the measurements off and might even result in there not being a horizontal pat of the glide.
>>
>>87167947

How many mountain climbers jump off a mountain and then launch their climbing rope after a few seconds of free fall? Same question for the SWAT and military guys; I'm sure they all actually test whether the grappling hook is secured instead of the way Batman does.

That's what I've been saying - but building a little retractable motor into a bullet-proof cowl is cumbersome. It makes more sense to abandon the idea entirely and have a small support team (aka Alfred and/or Oracle) to process information and feed it back to you via radio.

You'd also want to limit power consumption in a suit like this because you also have to be nimble and athletic. The more electricity you use the bigger your battery.

He said just because it might look silly or bad in cosplay, that it means it will always look silly and bad in a hollywood movie with millions of dollars backing it.

Thats fucking idiotic. In response, people replied to him with examples of silly looking cosplay of characters who were translated fairly accurately and in a decent way to live action, including 3 from X-Men who are just as silly if not moreso than most of Wolverines costumes.
>>
>>87172065

Well how about you prove him wrong and post a good wolverine cosplay.
>>
>>87172079
Maybe there isnt a good wolverine cosplay?

Thats inconsequential, because we have picture proof of an actual Wolverine costume from the set of a movie which makes all Wolverine cosplay, even some of the best, look like dogshit in comparison. Its a pointless, futile effort, because what the studio has and could make will always be superior to Dick Cockmans Rubber Mold Emporium.
>>
>>87172112

Hugh Jackman would look dumb wearing that yellow garbage.
>>
>>87172079
>>87172112
Adding onto this, even the best Wolverine cosplays usually go for an intentionally cheesy looking 1:1 comic rip with molded facial features that look like painted skin, and big, huge, ungodly massive ear wings.

The movie prop, on the other hand, is reflective of how a movie would handle it. Smooth, hard, practical helmet design with toned down features so as to make it more appetizing for reality.

Before The First Avenger, all Cap cosplays looked like dogshit and nobody could see that suit working in any capacity you could take seriously in live action. And yet, here we are.

Same could be said with many characters.

Batman.
Superman.
Spider-Man.
Iron Man.
Thor.
The Hulk.
Daredevil.

I could go on for days.

>>87172157
We cant know unless we see him in it.

Even then, it sure is a good thing Wolverine has a vastly superior design in the Brown and Tan costume.

Why the fuck do you faggots want yellow (or bring up yellow because you're too much of a tinydicked chode to think they'd go for the costume that could translate better to live action than bright yellow, red, and blue)? Brown and Tan is superior in every way.

I don't get why everyone is replying to this with strawman like responses. This guy picked someone who did a pretty decent cosplay and gave his opinion that it didn't look great. Instead of saying like "what do you mean, this looks great!" Or images or sketches of Hugh wearing the cosplay, they chose terrible cosplay as if it invalidates his opinion. It doesn't harm it at all. You are showing bad cosplay. Alright that doesn't change that this cosplay (in op's example) isn't too great. Just counteract with an example of wolverine looking good and you are set. Man 4chan loves their fallacies.
>>
>>87176799
His "point" was stupid, thats why everyone responded.

His point was "it was done in cosplay and doesnt look good, therefore it would never look good in a live action movie"

The reason everyone replied to him with bad cosplay of other characters is to show that principle is flawed, as those cosplays are bad, and for the most part existed long before the movie counterparts, but despite that, the movie counterparts often ended up looking stellar.

His point is null because he assumes something without realizing his logic is inherently flawed.

Infest him with nanites to keep him from regenerating, automate his skeleton, and you have an indestructible shell of an assassin.
>>
>>87176799
Because his opinion is worthless. You can't prove a Wolverine costume would never work if they haven't even tried to make a real one yet. Showing a homemade costume someone made with no budget isn't proof a hollywood made costume couldn't work. I never would have imagined they could pull off Deadpool with the white eyes and everything.

For years people posted shitty examples of cosplay trying to prove white eyes would never work, but Black Panther and Deadpool pulled them off.
