It was because the director had a disagreement with Ryan Reynolds.

It's no big loss.

>Deadline is reporting that Deadpool director Tim Miller is leaving the sequel over a series of creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. Variety confirmed the news with its own source. Miller hadn’t signed a formal deal for the next film in Fox’s franchise, based on the Marvel comic, but he was reportedly working on the script and getting things moving for the planned 2018 release.

>According to The Wrap, the pair parted ways because Miller wanted the second film to be more stylized, while Reynolds (a producer on both films) wanted to keep the raunchy, fourth-wall-breaking comedy approach that made the first film such a success. Their conflict reportedly came to a head with the rumored casting of Kyle Chandler as Cable. Chandler was Miller’s choice, but Reynolds didn’t want him for the part, and the studio ended up siding with the star- partially because his renegotiated contract includes casting approval.

>While Deadpool was definitely Reynolds’ project, Miller was also key in making the film such a massive success, leaking CGI test footage in 2014 that lit a fire under many fans. The film has gone on to gross over $780-million worldwide and recharged Reynolds’ career. Deadpool is currently the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, and is said to be part of the inspiration for making Wolverine’s third solo film, Logan, into an R-rated film.

>According to the report, Miller’s exit on Friday was amicable, and the director is jumping into another Fox project, Influx, based on the David Suarez novel. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

"style" of the movie = money

casting choices, which is why we haven't heard any news about the movie because they've been going around and around about who to cast.

Tim was pro kyle chandler apparently though most of these things seem to be rumors at this point, all that is known is that RR/Tim had different ideas and now Tim is working on a different Fox film

What I wasn't aware of is that marketing campaign that Fox just won awards for was actually spearheaded by RR

so apparently he is also a marketing genius. The reason why the original deadpool movie looked so good is Tim went above budget to work on the movie but didn't charge for it or something so there was a lot of passion poured into this movie which is sad.

If he really was pro chandler, I think it is a big mistake to walk away from that casting choice personally but fighting over the style of the movie comes down to budget and RR being executive producer would be worried about keeping bottom line down so execs dont come in and shit all over his dream.

I have a feeling it was more about money than anything but if they couldn't get anyone cast yet it is differing visions of the film maybe

hard to known with a bunch of sites spewing their own ideas about his departure
>>
>>87158257
why is money a problem when that movie fucking printed money? how much more successful does something have to be before the purse strings loosen?
>>87158114
huh. that's pretty funny since talking about who to cast was how it ended..
>>
>>87158432

I think writers/RR were sincere in their want of keeping the budget down because less budget = less studio interference

More budget = Green latern, again.

The more money you put into a project more suits are up in your shit. The 'stylized' pieces they're talking about are action pieces like combat sequences and stuff and doing unorthodox things to spruce up a simple story. All good ideas and a lot of them were Tim's, the difference is both men looked at movie and RR took away from it is that low key, off beat shit between the action pieces is what made the movie work, which are cheaper to do.

Like taxi scenes. How many major movies have shit like that? and it was hilarious and it did work.

You're not going to see captain america getting yucks with local indian, it just doesn't happen. They jump from one exposition dump to action scene after action scene.

Or Marvel Formula.

RR thinks by keeping it low key, it doubles down on what 'works' and keeps it cheap. Tim wanted to take the story in a more traditional direction because he is a visual storyteller.

Some of those improv joke shit didnt work and he wanted to pull back on that and stick to a more straight story, and RR apparently has other ideas.

We could come to find out it was Tim holding him back from turning Deadpool into Waiting: Superhero edition

I mean all of weasels jokes were just not funny. For the most part even on first viewing.
>>
>>87158257
seems like Miller was trying to make it into a Franchise™ while RR was giving us Deadpool 2, Deadpool 1 style.

They should keep it just like Deadpool 1, don't fuck with what works.

>Deadpool directs his own movie

Just thinking about how fucking meta they could get with this shit brings tears to my eyes.
>>
>>87158114
If the direction had problems with Reynolds then it's no great loss. Especially if it was over changing the tone of the series. I hope that keeping the tone the same doesn't mean that they'll end up cutting down on big action scenes though.
>>
>>87158114
oh it's a director wants to make a stylistic vision instead of a good movie disagreement
>>
Time will tell how the movie works in the end. Let's not shit any of tgem now, they both did pretty well. Sometimes people can dissagree and anything happens

I hope this doesn't negatively impact the production of "The Goon"

This needs to happen and there should be a scene that actually shows Deadpool on set in the director's chair, directing himself.
>>
>>87158114
>Kyle Chandler as Cable

good fucking god man, nothing of value was lost, Reynolds is going to make one schway ass movie from the sounds of things, I'm hype
>>
>>87161045
With and without the director's cut, fucking Bullsye was still the best in that.
>>
>>87158683
I think the bad parts about the first movie was that the raunchy jokes by the end of it became poorly paced.
>>
>>87152704
I'm afraid it's going to crumble without Miller. I mean I'm fairly sure he was the reason they made Colossus and the X-Men world so faithful with the perfect yellow costume on Negasonic and everything.
>>
>>87161591
I thought the studio wanted Liam Neeson, which would be an exponentially worse pick than Chandler who I wouldn't necessarily mind. Me? I'd go with. Eric Dane.
>>
>>87162091

All of weasels best parts like captain deadpool joke were scripted. The topigraphical map joke, all the other off beat shit was his stupid improv that fell flat.

It was really worst parts of the movie.

>>87162018

He was a bit of love in that character, it was so manic and perfect.
>>
>>87162271
Same goes for some of Wade's dick dialogues getting abit too predictable.

On the plus side, Weasel definitely was swell during the part where he was comforting Wade by telling him that he's gonna win the Deadpool, and his goodbyes before Wade goes to save his ex.
>>
>>87162343

Which was all scripted shit, all of weasel's best stuff were pre-planned. Almost all of the comedy, improv shit that he does, just like silicon valley was terrible.

I agree but RR was using a prebuilt script for his shit. All of his comedy is classic RR so you're going to love it or hate it but at least on first viewing, a lot of it was funny.

It reminded me a lot of classic RR comedy, his schtick which surprisingly worked.

I think his ikea scene with blind al was terrible, but him having a heart to heart about his appearance worked.

Comedy was way too hit or miss to bank on when majority of scripted stuff was only 60 percent good.
>>
>>87158114
>Influx, based on the David Suarez novel
Did they meant DANIEL Suarez? David Suarez is the football star.
>>
>>87152800
This is a legit possibility.
>>
>>87158114
the best part of this movie was the hwy shootout scene. if thats what he meant by stylized, i think were getting screwed over by losing his input.
>>
>>87162151
Excellent pick, anon. Liam Neeson is also a fucking awful choice, don't know why everyone wants to cast Cable as a manlet, an old fuck, or Kevin Nash. Rob Liefeld said he wants Jon Hamm and that's a pretty great choice imo.
>>
>>87152704
I'm worried. Also sad to see people unable to work out some small disagreements.

Yeah, I am just sad that we can't get "more of the same", which is all I am after for Deadpool. I wish they could have toughed it out for one more film before changing things.

Good for Reynold for sticking up for his vision of Deadpool and not letting another wolverine origins cock up happen. Miller can choke on the success of the first film and probably did which is why he left. Good riddance.

"Stylized" could mean a lot of things. I'm hoping that it doesn't mean we don't delve a little more into Deadpool's world.

Kyle Chandler as Cable is an awful choice, though.
