He was great in his days working on British comics and early on in his American career working on non-superhero stuff. He was drawing Preacher when he was 22/23, when most drawfags here are still drawing vague fetish porn of cartoon characters. Hell, what have you done by 22? He only just started phoning stuff in about 8 years ago, because he probably didn't want to draw superheroes.

His judge Dredd stuff was the best he did

He was great way back. Fell into a bit of a rut afterwards. Look at even early Preacher vs. late Preacher. But he did some great stuff on Hellblazer and Punisher.

Yeah. He did a ton of shit for early Dredd. You could sometimes see traces of where the Frankface would come from (I remember a panel from City of the Damned with Anderson crying that looks like a direct ancestor) but he was really almost unrecognizable back then.

Hitman, Hellblazer and any war-related comic beats Ennis' Punisher with ease.
