Marvel and how their treatment of Spider-Man perplexes me. It's clear that a large majority wants Peter with MJ, for them to get married and maybe even have a kid. Renew Your Vow was a five-issue limited series and it proved so popular that Marvel is making it into an ongoing. Superman is married to Lois and has a kid in Rebirth and people LOVE it. People are clearly okay with superheroes growing as characters. Marriage and children don't have to be such big no-nos. Now I'm not saying that every character has to be married and have kids. I'm just saying you don't have be so hellbent against those things.

This just makes me mad and sad about the big 2, and how they will never embrace change and growing storylines.

We will never have a Peter who grows from a young 15 year old boy into an adult man. Who has a wife and kid and inspires a new generation of superheroes.
Who grows and deals with not only great villains, but the difficulties of passing on the torch to a new generation who might not be ready. And stories with Silk and Miles, and Peter's daughter who take up the mantle and have difficulties with not only Super villains, but living up to Peter's unrealistic legacy.

Instead we get a Spider-man who is so heavily retconned and rebooted to keep him 15-25 that his story has no real meaning anymore. It's nothing more than a mish-mash of vague story points that may or may not have actually happened. And little sneak peeks to AUs and "What if.." stories that are actually good.
