As someone who personally hated Old Man Logan I hope that as little of it as possible makes it in. Millar's work is best taken as the inspiration for film, but VERY heavily edited to remove all the crap he throws in. we've come a long way old friends, sure it wasn't always easy, it was a rather bumpy road but given the end we are getting, it was totally worth it. I'm glad this movie is turning into a character drama instead of a "you have to save the world"-scenario, this seems like a very personal movie for Hugh Jackman and its good that they let him have this chance. In a way it is like the start of x-men, with Logan who lost hope, helping a girl to find her place in this world.

A lot of the characters and plot lines from the comic this is based on can't be done in the movie. Disney's Marvel owns The Hulk, Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Daredevil and the Punisher. Meaning that there can't be a fight with Redskull at the destroyed Capital, there can't be a scene where Hawkeye and Logan drive past Loki's giant skeleton, Logan can't fly back home in the Iron Man suit, and he can't kill The Hulk and his brood, and he can't ride off into the sunset with the little shrek looking baby.Because they don't have the rights to the property.
The only way they'd be in the film is if Disney sees it as a profitable item if they get a cut. Frankly, after X-men Apocolypse, I don't think that will be the case.
However Sony does own Spiderman and X-men. So Mysterio can get Wolverine to kill everyone. And we can see a T-Rex with the Venom Symbiont.
Beyond that, the connections to the source material are going to be loose at best.

All you need to know going into this movie is who Wolverine is, Xavier is and that all the other mutants are apparently dead.
