Why do you keep calling me Bill? My name is Lenore silly. I've come back because, I love Bill so much , and I really missed him.
Did they ever explain why Bill doesn't make that much money, despite being in the fucking Army?
>>87100474
He a barber.
>>87100474
He's essentially got a civilian job in the army. He's probably getting paid better than non-army barbers, but that's really not saying much.
Also he makes terrible life choices so most of his money probably goes towards paying off debts and loans and the like.
>>87100570
When has it ever been said that Bill's poor? Just because of his clothes and the condition of his house? That's just Bill being the slob he is.
>>87100457
Why do you keep calling meBITCH
I WAS LISTENING
>>87100457
>The people who worked on the show had no intention on fixing Bill's life, even if the series continued
Why do they want Bill to suffer?
>>87102463
Because he must
He does it for us
>>87102463
>he thinks writers have a responsibility to "fix" their characters' lives
>SITCOM writers no less
Have you no shame?
>>87101631
Uh uh no way. I don't know what you're playin'
Maybe some kinda crazy tennis.

How can a single show be this silly, funny and also incredibly feels inducing at the same time? How can there be something this perfect?
>>87102580
>Not wanting to see a messed up character gets their life together.
Gross.
>>87102580
Some people like seeing broken characters get fixed. Nothing wrong with that.
>>87103072
I think that there is. Creators are under no obligation to pander to what certain viewers want. Shit, /co/ fucking LOVES to hate on shows for "pandering" but doesn't consider it that when it's something that THEY want? It just feels like more schmucks on 4chan identify too much with Bill and want to vicariously enjoy the thrill of turning their life around through himbut they never will.
>>87100616
There's an episode where Bill writes Dale a check for $1,000,000. When Dale goes to cash it, he empties Bill's checking account getting like, ~$30 and change.
>>87100474
Speaking as ex-army, the military does not pay much, probably to discourage being a soldier as your primary career.
That being said, any pay earned that is combat pay (you don't have to be in shot at, it means you're in a place designed as an active combat zone while on duty) is not subject to any taxes, period.
>>87103141
Sounds like a whole lot of shit. People just like happy endings.
Creators do have a choice on whether to give it or not though.
>>87102580
>>he thinks writers have a responsibility to "fix" their characters' lives
Where did you even get that from?
I just greentexted Bill's fate and asked why they want to leave him as is.
>>87100474
The army is an organisation that thrives off of employing thousands of relatively expendable recruits in various positions overseen and supported by less expendable and more specialised groups of individuals at various junctures.
What gives you the impression that the average soldier -- let alone one who doesn't even see any action -- is paid handsomely?
>>87103354
Because this way, no matter how shitty the author's or audience's life gets, at least they're not as bad off as Bill.
Obligatory

King of the Hill has some of the best YTP.
>>87102463
A happy Bill would easily be the worst character on the show. LOL he's fat and dumb, that's it, that's his character.
>>87103481
Ex-army guy again, and the idea of soldiers in today's army being expendable is a myth. It was true in the time of the draft because drafted soldiers were poorly trained, poorly equipped, and easily replaceable.
That isn't the case anymore. You are carrying $17.5k worth of equipment on you in combat. The government spends $850k for one year of training you and just you. And if you get hurt, that's MORE money they have to spend on you for medical bills (hence why the Vietcong shot to wound us instead of kill us). They put far too much money in us to just let us die.
Not to mention, your training is built around the unit working together. Keeping your fellow soldiers alive is taught to you pretty extensively.

There were times things went well for Bill but he usually became arrogant or abused it that depressed failure Bill was better and near seemed overly harsh. Usually it was his fault he was miserable anyways
