My only gripe with Bluth's animation is that it takes a full 5 seconds of wild animation for a character to nod and say yes.
I can understand expressive animation, but it borders on GMod/SFM exaggerated movement.

Don Bluth films, while usually labors of love, have a tendency to be lacking in emotional payoffs. The animation is usually very high quality, and the art direction is creative and the premise is typically fun and exciting, but the execution can feel, like you said, lackluster.

Overall I'm a big fan of Don Bluth's films, but they just don't quite compare to Disney and Pixar films in terms of high-quality animation with great writing.
