My problem with modern South Park is that they get all their episode plots from the front of the newspaper or whatever people are talking about on the Internet at the time. Although this ensures the series has never ending episode plots, anyone watching these episodes 5-10 years in the future will have no fucking idea what is going on and most of the references will have no effect.

Remember, he didn't only make him eat his parents, he also invited his favorite band to town so they could see how he cried while doing it. That little detail (losing your parents is way worse than looking "uncool" in front of your favorite band) shows that, for Cartman, it's all about looking cool.

The past season and this current season, Trey and Matt have been trying to break South Park's mold. Making their typecast characters make different choices and take different attitudes than they typically would. I feel member berries are also hinting towards that.

The reason I doubt they'll make Cartman be behind this whole thing is because it's the obvious route to go. His typecast was to just be this evil manipulative asshole trying to stir up shit, but when he tries to finally help out for a change, everyone lashes at him and breaks his stuff. Butters also mentioned how Cartman will get his revenge on them, like you guys think he has this big masterplan to fuck over everyone or something.

I might be wrong and they'll make him behind everything like always, but that'll be disappointing as fuck. Right now I don't know where they'll go with this, but if anyone has this big masterplan, it would probably be Heidi instead of Cartman, but it would be a nice change if they're just both victims of circumstance and really tried to help.
