No.

I mean as a set piece it's nice but go to any free play arcade and play it (or Turtles in Time or Aliens Versus Predators or Simpsons) and see how little fun it is when you never run out of continues.

You play through it once and it's wonderful, but the more you play it the more you realize how damn repetitive and unfair the game is and how the reason you felt like you accomplished something was because you were desperately trying to get through the game without spending the entire five dollars in quarters mom gave you for the trip to the arcade.

I'm gonna get a cocktail arcade cabinet with 30 old-school games in it at some point, but those multi-tv beat-'em-ups are just too expensive for the amount of fun you get out of them.

I have a Neo Geo MVS and some of the games are impossible to beat with only one credit because there are sections in the games where the creators of the game want you to put more coins in. A lot of arcade games do this, even the new ones. I would love to have something like Donkey Kong, where actual skill is involved and you can beat it with only one credit.

I really love pinballs. This is the first one I ever played. I remember that they had it in a grocery store and I was too short to play it so my father lifted me so I could play. After that I was hooked (no pun intended) and still to this day I always play a pinball if I happen to see one. I really hate the new Stern ones, because the artwork in them is so uninspired. It's usually just the same promo images you see everywhere else, when it used to be just for the pinball machine and you couldn't see the pictures anywhere else.

Kids bringing typed-up move lists with them, "getting next" by placing your quarters in a queue on the cabinet, that kid who was always the first to find the fatalities in MK2 and would show them off to crowds of onlookers after fights.

I remember the only rush that matched SF2 where I lived was Killer Instinct. Holy balls, that game was hype personified. Dial-a-Combos made people look like pros. Fun to watch and fun to play.

lucky, our cade only had MK, SF, VF and TKKN

later though, we got SC2 (which had a TON of players due to that conquest mode), a GGXX cab which only a few played (shame) and then SC3 arcade edition which was weird because that was when i figured arcades were dead

fun (sad?) fact:
dead risings mall has NO arcade, not even one filled with just fake games. i was looking for one on release 10 years ago for a capcom arcade, but i was sad to not find one.

even more sad, that was 2006, when a huge amount of malls got rid of or didn't have arcades at that point. the game was just using reality too well...

I'd be down for an arcade like that, but I was never a fan of ticket-prize arcades. Still, people don't seem to be willing to spend money on many arcade games that don't offer a physical reward of some sort.

Chuck E Cheeses became pretty soulless, too. I remember having a decent birthday party at one back when it was called Showtime Pizza.

I had a free play arcade back in the late '90s/very early 2000s (my middle school/first year or two of high school days). It was great. A lot of good old games and shit. I remember one of the first times I was there, spending a good hour or so playing MK2 with this cute older grill (like high school age while I was probably 7th grade or so) and never seeing her again after that.

There was a group of maybe 6 or 7 of us who were regulars (like a couple guys around my age, a few college age) who would be there every Friday night until closing. The owner was chill and had a TV set up in the back so when the Dreamcast came out in Japan, one of the guys imported it and the group of us would spend every Friday night in a back corner playing shit like Power Stone, MvC1, MAHVEL and 3rd Strike. I don't think I've seen any of those guys in a good 14-15 years but fuck, great times.

Being 10 or so and getting hype for Mortal Kombat at the bowling alley with a bunch of other people was great too. I feel sorry for anyone who couldn't get any sort of nice arcade experience, be it convenience stores, bowling alleys, hole in the wall rooms, etc. and just spending all afternoon/night playing whatever fightan was around against whoever was around.

Thing is, I think only the really nerdy people like me played it.

Then in senior year, we got a new principle.

So what does he do? He gets rid of the table. But does he sell it since this is 2003 and the table is only 6 years old?

No. He has the janitorial staff take sledgehammers too it and tosses it in the dumpster.
