I don't know what these usually look like, but I wanna keep talking Transformers edition
Surprisingly Optimus hasn't been able to reach Cybertron, unsurprisingly he hints that he is working with old friends in the finale of the RID Mini-Con story.
Who you guys think the old friends are? I'm betting on Jazz, Bulkhead and Arcee since both of their voice actors got tweeted at by Jazz's actor in a tweet along with other Transformers actors.
Last thread was pretty cozy. I hope this one will be too.
Still waiting for that Transformers script, DC!
Posting the comic guide
just in case
>>86984118
Not sure if it's any good, but I was following this one from the previous thread.
>>86984038
Last thread was so serene despite being kicked off with the question "What's your favorite Transformers comic?" I was expecting it to break out into arguments and attract that one baiting asshole but no, it went surprisingly well.
>>86984145
That´s good, >>86984118 its only the updated ver.
>>86984149
Yeah, I was half expecting it to have gone to shit by the time I woke up, but it was nice. Threads like that one are why I hang around here. Like I said, hopefully this one goes the same
Who even laughs like that?
>>86984236
Nelson Muntz.
So /tfg/ what do you expect from the "third season" in the comics?
>>86984415
More lore. Can never get enough learning from alien culture.
>>86984415
I hope the shared world concept doesn't interfere with ex-RID too much, as Revolution makes me dread it more and more.
I sincerely hope Lost Light goes back to being as decent as season one of MTME, but it's been dropping in quality ever since Dark Cybertron ended and who knows if it can get back on track. I also hope Roberts gets Prowl back to acting like IDW Prowl instead of being another generic Roberts goofbot.
>>86984415
Optimus Prime: Flashbacks, drama, and a really good set of characters cooperating. Also lore and PRIMES! Finally we'll get to see primes fighting prime!
Lost Light: Comedy, mystery, and a very depressed cast of characters. Hopefully more information regarding the Knights. Also the mutineers who I think I'm anticipating even more than the Rod squad. Getaway is a good character and one of the only characters who thinks logically in this entire run.
>>86984415
More crap.
>>86984415
As I'm not really into the Transformers yet (just started reading) and Action Man bombed after three issues, I kind of don't want anything intervening with my hype.
Do any of you have any Transformers toys/figma?
>>86984886
I think it was said that that wouldn't happen and the shared stuff is most likely going to be shoved to Revolutionaries and that every other title would go about normally (I am guessing Gi Joe might be the exception since they are going sci-fi and they'll get a Tformer).
Worst case scenario the Joes fill the position of the faceless military but something makes me think by the end of Revolution Scarlett and the others might go rogue so maybe not.
>>86985110
Yes, but since your picture is showing mild disgust I won't go into the money I wasted during Combiner Wars.
Guys... drawing robots is hard
>>86984415
I want more of the Scavengers (and Grimlock!). Those were some of my favourite MTMTE issues, especially the one with Max and the roboids. As another Anon said, I'd also like Prowl to sort himself out - I'm still half-convinced there's something legit up with him and it's not just bad writing, but... lol
Also more character development for the people who aren't Megatron and Cyclonus, much as I love them. I miss season one MTMTE but who knows if it'll get back there.
>>86985110
Just a little old Prowl toy, because I'm poor
>>86985110
Just Kreos.
>>86985206
>Yes, but since your picture is showing mild disgust
Haha not my intention. I'm looking into getting one myself to break up all the anime titty figures I have.
>>86985110
Damn, Radiohead got old.
>>86985237
In that case I used to collect Transformers as a kid back during G1, so I had a soft spot for the CW figures and just kept going.
So have Superion, Menasor, Defensor, Ultra Prime, Bruticus, and Sky Reign along with Cyclonus, the deluxe Groove that was online exclusive in the US and the leader class Megatron that came out in that 'season'.
For Titans Return I only picked up Scourge and Galvatron to keep Cyclonus company and probably won't get anymore aside from Soundwave.
Someday I need to take a picture of all my combiners in one shot.
>>86984415
I guess for Optimus the Quintesson are going to appear right? So I hope we get to know more about them. From the previews I guess we are getting some flashbacks from the war and probably some info on how Optimus and Soundwave met. I hope Spike is dead and gone by then, I really don't care about this version of the character.
As for Lost Light,: MTMTE confused me a lot and lost me at some point with some of the timey wimey stuff and I don't think I fully comprehend some of the things that happen (that's more my fault tho) but I enjoyed a lot of the first stories and I like the lore build up so I'm hoping they continue on that.
I also want to see a Cybertronian Space Knight, I guess that involves crossovers already but I just think that idea sounds cool.
Also I want for Prowl to not be such a douche.
>>86985216
The Scavengers are cool too, I love those guys.
>>86985322
Thom Yorke has seen some shit.
>>86985335
Im collecting too
I grabed defensor menasor and devastaor from cw
Picked up a knock off third party superion and bruticus and abominus cause im a scalefag
And am currently eye balling computron
>>86985527
Yeah, might get Computron and maybe Victorion when I have extra dosh to waste again. Just annoyed that there's no 100 percent perfect official Computron as both the US and JP versions have differences in their figures and neither one has the definitive set of limbs (most glaringly the US version has Nosecone be a Brawl retool, and Brawl is by far the worst toy in the CW line).
I really enjoyed Megatron: Origin. I found it a little tough to read at points, especially with having no idea how the transformer society works but I think I got it all.
>>86985110
Yes CW mostly and some of Rid (both 2001 and 2015) and Titans return has not arrived where i live so yeah...
>>86985216
>Guys... drawing robots is hard
Are you the anon that was drawing Soundwave? Don't worry it takes a a lot of practice but you get used to it. I draw mostly humans and very fluid lines at that so breaking out of that habit and drawing angular lines was a pain. Soundwave will be one of the easier boys to draw since his face is concealed.
>>86985657
Megatron Origin is pretty chaotic and very vague. On the bright side they build up on it in the future. Cybertronian society before the war gets explored very later on .
>>86985175
>Worst case scenario the Joes fill the position of the faceless military but something makes me think by the end of Revolution Scarlett and the others might go rogue so maybe not.
The Joe's are taking the place of the EDC but since they're doing their own thing they won't be anywhere as relevant as the EDC was.
>The Machination still exists
>Sunstreaker has returned to Earth
Sasuga Scorponock.
>>86985755
Yeah, that's me! Admittedly I don't draw that often and I only recently started trying robots, so this has been... interesting. I've drawn more in the past few months thanks to TF than I have in the past few years, which is nice. Atm I'm just doing a lot of quick, shitty sketches to try and get used to his shapes.Spoiler for mess
>>86986884
Not bad, hands are too 'fleshy' though.
>>86986884
Aw! That's adorable I love it, anon.
>>86987060
Hands are always the worst for me. You're right though - if I'm going to draw robots, they do need proper robot hands! I'll keep practicing
>>86987294

and a huge price to match.
Couldn't justify it to myself to buy Devastator, now I'm probably going to get sticker shock from Trypticon as well.
Who else got their Hard Heroes Rhinox model this week?
>>86987853
Titan Master
>>86987694
I NEVER UNDERSTOOD THAT.
Does it mean that Cybetronians can just flare the flaps of their skull at will?
>>86988419
Horrifying.
I mean I guess they can shift around parts of their armour a little, open up a bit for extra ventilation or something, but somehow it's freaky when I think about them doing that with their heads. Don't get me started on Chromia taking off her 'helmet' either.
>>86988697
>Don't get me started on Chromia taking off her 'helmet' either.
That was terrifying. I always thought it was her head. Now I wonder if everyone is just wearing helmets. Can you imagine how ugly some of these character would look without those big ol' heads? The seekers would look SO BAD I don't even want to think about it.
Should I post Maximum Dinobots now? It's only 5 issues so the thread will still have a long way to go anyways.

>>86990509
Highfives
>>86990509
Okay, so for those who don't know or have never read early IDW, Sunstreaker was captured by Machination and turned into some sort of hub of a head that delivers knowledge and memories to all using the robotic vehicle/super suits that machination has developed. It's and incredibly painful and traumatizing experience; it's violating since it's like 50 random humans digging through your mind and sharing a consciousness with you.
>>86990509
I'm lurking, just busy/distracted
>>86990595
Hunter found one of the Sunstreaker hubs and found it begging him to kill him but Hunter didn't want to accept that and decides to save him instead. He wears one of the suits and Hunter and Streaker begin to share a body and thoughts.
Thus we are here on a quest to find the real Streaker.

>>86990728
>>86990755
>>86990730
If we were to try to make sense of it or fix it I would assume Sunstreaker began reflecting on what it was like to be his former self and found that nothing felt right thanks to the experience he had with being mentally gangbanged by humans.

I can't say I disagree. The start of IDW made the whole "robots in disguise" bit mean something, the Autobots weren't squeaky clean, fights were raging all across the galaxy (either to prevent the destruction of a planet, or to salvage what's left) with a few glimpses seen here and there, new enemies that weren't Transformers popped up, the whole war effort looking like it was heading towards Earth... then AHM happens and fucked everything up.

>>86995047
Man, humans always looked so weird in early IDW.
>>86995047
This was hilarious when it came out. This issue came either when they reveal his fate in AHM, or when they pulled the plug.
I'll always be disappointed they killed off Hunter and Sunstreakers relevance, since he was shaping up to be the default human character for years, and Sunstreaker had thus far had either barely any presense, or was off line for most of his appearances (marvel).
>>86995104
Oh wow.

>>86995613
What did I skip during this storytime other than alternate covers and the credits page?
>>86995637
>There's enough love for Sunstreaker in comparison to Sideswipe
I'd love to know in what. So far, Sideswipe has WFC, Movies, Devastation, and RID. Sunstreaker only has IDW, since the cartoon didn't give him any episodes, and the Marvel comic had him offline for almost the whole run.
>>86995625
>supposed to be
Remember, IDW is its own universe. Galvatron isn't Megatron, Goldbug isn't Bumblebee, and Prowl combines with the Constructicons.

>>86995924
That was a single story. It's nice that he got it but there was nothing else to it. He's apparently still good friends with Junko since he meets her again in the 2030's when he and the other Optimus Maximus components went to take some special surfing training, and she still manages to look 20 when she's pushing 50.

Nah, they just killed the connection his head had to the bodies. He survives tobetray the Autobots in exchange for humanity being wiped out, repenting then reliving terrible memories over and over as he lays crippled and abandoned under some rubble, becoming a combiner, then becoming a different combiner against his will.

Does /tfg/ care about Sunstreaker now?
>>86998410
I do, even if he did abandon Hunter like a dick.
>>86995708
The problem is mainly that Sunstreaker's personality doesn't work that well as a gungho action hero like his brother. Sunstreaker is a prima donna who is more concerned about looking good and showing up others, and while going against that characterization is possible they would just rather use Sideswipe instead.
>>86998288
nope
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpQwPyuNFGg
>>86998441
That characterization can still work in a team setting. Shit, RID Sideswipe has bits from Sideswipe AND Sunstreaker as part of his characterization.
>>86998194
She was basically dying at that point and all of a sudden hell breaks loose. She made it out okay in the end and gets to hang out with Springer and mini Tarantulas.

> be away from home for two days without internet

Nice! I'm still working my way through the comics, but it's a blast. I'm glad I gave the robots finally a chance.
>>86999375
Great to hear, anon.
The more people getting into TF the merrier.
Who's your favorite character so far?
>>86999393
I don't think there's a definitive favourite, and my knowledge is still haphazard as I'm making my way through the comics and cartoons (and the differences in characterizations make the pool only bigger, as TFA Prowl and TFP Arcee are way different than their comic counterparts).
But I think comics-wise Starscream is definitively up there, as I enjoy him trying to worm his way up and then things going wrong for him. Shockwave for the tragedy he presents, Bee for trying his best and failing. OP when he acknowledges his own short-comings without sounding like a textbook goody-two shoes. Metalhawk as a neutral voice is also good, and Sky Bite is a shark poet.
MTMTE's more personal struggles are a good counterpart and I can enjoy the cast as a whole, though it does gets sometimes a bit confusing with the similar looks (the early bit where Ratchet finds Pharma, Ambulon and Red Alert and a plague? I had troubles differentiating who speaks to who, and later it was similar when Pharma and Ratchet met again.) Also, sometimes characters die and it mostly feels pointless as I didn't connect to them, but that might be me binging it and being a fast reader. I still don't quite get how Cyclonus and Tailgate got close, as the former only clung to the ladder as a known element and the latter just was abrasive to him to get him off his chassis.
>>86998288
Why do people keep saying that, we saw the Predacons converging on him menacingly, for what was probably the most severe beating of his life.
>>86994980
So is Scorponok still MIA in IDW? Its assumed that he got sent to Garrus 9 bit he was conspicously absent from LSOTW. Personally I thought that Symbol ship with the organic bot in the first Scavenger arc was connected to him, but it looks like Roberts os going to connect that something else instead.
Man-bot on Man-bot love.
Also is Optimus James Bond?

>>86984415
EX-RID don't care.
Lost Light - to be a step up of Season 2. I just want some development with the knights. Rodimus getting development would be nice too. Getaway getting the asskicking of a life time too.
>>87000500
Who's spark DIDN'T OP cause to tingle a little bit? The others either want him or be like him, causing him to be on their minds 24/7. Not even the senate could empurate that face away.
>>87001371
> I just want some development with the knights
We've actually gotten a whole lot
Are there any images where you can actually see the Cassettes stored in Soundwave? So far I've only seen them "ejecting" by being drawn fully popped out next to SW with an open chest.
>>86999581
>I still don't quite get how Cyclonus and Tailgate got close, as the former only clung to the ladder as a known element and the latter just was abrasive to him to get him off his chassis.
Bonding in the background I guess. They're from the same era and share a room so I guess they managed to get along somehow.
>>87003118
Unfortunately there's no comic references but his MP toy should do since the cassettes are very visible there.
>>87003689
Yeah, but I think my only impression was that their characters clashed to much and that their interest in each other wasn't grounded in them as people (i.e pre-war times, someone approaching Cyclonus without reservations/decepticon association). Still a mighty jump from "Go die Tailgate" to "I'll sing for you". Even Whirl and Cyclonus could work out their differences... though I think that might've been thanks to Tailgate's positive influence on Cyclonus.
>>87000500

>>87001406
Nova Prime.
>>87004432
I wasn't a big of those either. Livios art makes them such a chore when it should have been fantastic seeing how it features Trypticon, the destruction of Kaon, Megatron on Junkion with his pet Quint, and Orion receiving the Matrix and becoming Optimus Prime.
>>86999812
He's still MIA.
A lot of characters are actually.
>>87005373
To be fair, there's a fuckton of characters in TF. The crux of a long-running series meant to sell things.

Megatron is off 'discovering himself' and gave up the evil villain lifestyle after getting mind raped by Unicron.

>>87016310
It's terrible.- We ALREADY had a reason why the Dinobots had dino modes via Spotlight: Shockwave, but because they had shown up prior to that with vehicle modes, they had to UNdo the explanation here at the end of the miniseries- Why does a Quintession have a spark?- Why does shoving a Quintession's spark into Trypticon revive him with some sort of hybrid mind? That's not how anything works.

Only Skywarp fans will have to.
>>87018635
So Barber still lied, even if it is only Skywarp.
Remember that time when Optimus Primal went all crazy and wanted Cybertron to be technorganic?
Beast Machines was a mistake.
>>87018908
Primus did, Optimus was just following divine word.
>>87018795
I mean it's a single characters adventures. Skywarps adventures won't affect the plot of Transformers whatsoever.
>>87020173
It's still major Transformers content.
>>87020268
>Skywarp is major TF content.
Don't get me wrong even though I'm stressing this idea I agree that Barber lied, but still Skywarp is such a minor character and they're not going to be discovering any primal relics in Joe so you won't be missing out on anything? You won't have to read it because it's not relevant.
Where does it say Skywarp is a permanent fixture in G.I. Joe?
>>87020268
Their definition of "not needing to read outsider content" as "not needing to read it to follow the plot of the main Transformer books" is annoying, especially if you like the character(s) caught up in it.
I'll take having to read an extra series if I want to keep up with a character I like over having to keep up with 10 separate series just to understand the plot of the few I want to read, though. Shared universes suck if everything is entangled and you only care about half of it.
>>87020460
Did they even say if the TF that joins is going to be a key major characters. He may end up playing the warp drive taxi, and nothing more.
>>87020478
Making it 10 would probably cause many to drop. But just making just 1 or 2 is clever, as that's 2 more items they're getting you to buy. It's only, what, $10 more a month?
>>87020460
He's not it's just the popular fan theory since he's currently in the Joe base and under their care.
>>87020520
>Did they even say if the TF that joins is going to be a key major characters.
No Sitterson made it very clear that a TF was going to be apart of team.
>>87020525
Ok good. I mean, I would still read the bits for Skywarp like I do for Slapstick in Deadpool (Stopped now since he left) if he ever does become a permanent thing with them... but I like to fancy myself of the possibilities of the Scavengers interacting with him in the future since they will be on earth.
Would you guys play a class based Transformers shooter game?
I know there was once a TF game that had that but was killed off in two years time but if that TF game was made without P2W tactics, would you?
>>87020740
Reeeeaaalllly depends on the play mechanics. That browser-based TF game was absolutely terrible.
>>87020880
How about the WFC multiplayer mechanics?
>>87020640
>Scavengers interacting with him in the future since they will be on earth.
Oh god they're probably joining the Earth embassy now that Roberts alternate cast will be the mutineers.
Optimus and Soundwave are surrounded by such serious people including themselves, how the hell will the Scavengers interact with anyone? They should probably return to space and just join Hot Rod's team.
>>87015605
RiD is for younger kids, so the toys have to be sturdy, hence the change for Screamer. Would also explain why there's no toy for Kickback, everything could break off far to easy.
>>87021084
Not that anon but he's still attractive IMO. They at least attempted to explain why the body changed in the show.
>>87021453
I admit it takes some getting used to since it's such a drastic visual change for the character, but I'm not mad about it. Would be more awkward to translate the TFP design into the thicker RiD looks.
>>87015761
SW wasn't forged like a good cybertronian ought to be, and his cold constructed face was to beautiful and had to be rightfully removed. The green-white colour scheme he had was also better looking.

Aerial combat as a jet is a different kind of action than what a human would find interesting. Unless he gets a cult following among pilots and military guys who are absolutely into it. But I'd like to see him talk things through with a fight choreographer to get things right.
> "What do you mean humans can't bend like that?"
> "They already die from this?"
>>87022176
Nah, it looks like every other face Milne draws. It's super generic.
And his post Rape body is a different generic, he's just a movie design.

>>87022326
Yes
>>87022263
I see some differences, but they're very minor in the way of facial diversity that could be. There's a reason why many are hesitant to try TF when it's hard to tell the bots apart. But I'm lucky that Milne-face is quite attractive to me, so it's half a win.
>>87022316
So literally this but with jets
>>>/wsg/1351864
>>87022316
>Thundercracker is shocked the film rating his lurid erotica gets is a G rating
Ha! Now I'm worried if TC has ever tried writing human "procreation" seeing how his story is a novella about a nurse and her Josh boyfriend.
>>87022359
You know posting MG:R crap has got me thinking. Who would win in a fight between LQ-84i (Bladewolf) or Ravage?
>>87022383
People would think it's an SNL parody.
>>87022383
> inb4 400 different descriptions how soft everything is, even the parts that should be hard
I'm worried he'd go on the internet for help, porn is the worst teacher for romantic intimacy... but if he were to base the male LI more on himself, I think he'd make well-selling romcoms.
>>87022419
He would probably write it out like a badly narrated Animal Planet documentary.
>>87022419
>He goes on the internet looking for intimacy references
>Finds those horrifying hentai doujins filled with vore, shit and all kinds of bad fetishes
>Finds out those doujins are fanfictions based on an existing story series
>Gets invested in the story
>Goes back to working on his HUMAN INTIMACY project
>It becomes a porn with underlying backstories mixed with terrifying sex fetishes and symbolism with a lore with time travel and alternate dimensions.
Three days later his film would be regarded as the best 2deep art house movie to be ever made, and TC would be upset because he wasn't looking to be one for arthouse fame.
>>87022462
I think it'd be a mixture between your suggestion and this:

> “Bits of one jammed into bits of the other, dangerously close to some of the weakest and most important internal organs.”
>>87022462
TC narrating Animal Planet would be as entertaining as Snoop Dog's narrating of that.

>>87022538
For shame TC, don't they have wikipedia in IDW-verse? Hell, sometimes even fashion sites state that correlation between the atoll and the clothing.
>>87022562
Honestly, you can go a long way not seeing porn if you've got a one-track mind and close tabs that open irrelevant information. TFP Screamer managed to only find a conspiracy site and a gif.
>>87022579
For the EDC, 80% of it will try to hide it as the nature of the work could be an embarassment to the defense center and to the government.
The remaining, the 10 % would laugh it off, 5% would get off on it and the remaining 5% would think that TC's trying to be a traitor by making videos of earth culture to send to the enemy.
Why is Soundwave so based?
>>87022591
>Honestly, you can go a long way not seeing porn if you've got a one-track mind and close tabs that open irrelevant information.
This is true. Unless you're into a franchise with lots of fanart poured into it, you're good.
>>87022629
He's got a decent character (caring, hopeful etc) but is also extremely capable.
>>87022629
Do you guys still read IDW Soundwave with his G1 voice? I mean it's iconic and I don't want to change my headcanon reading but at the same time it feels weird when I'm reading him in that.
Closest I have to a normal Soundwave voice is his ROTF video game voice.
>>87022629
Consider the following >>87015938 .
>>87022636
or video games.
>>87022664
Oh yeah. The first thing I ever got really into was Touhou in 4th grade. I wouldn't interact with people online or talk about it but I would play the games.
Little me discovered doujin the hard way.
>>87022652
Yeah, kind of. For me he still has a heavily synthesized voice rather than a regular, practically human once, it's just a bit less monotonous and more capable of conveying emotion than his G1 voice
>>87022652
>Do you guys still read IDW Soundwave with his G1 voice?
Nope. I imagine his voice still retaining the vocoder effect somewhat but talking like a regular person alongside it as opposed to lifelessly and slowly.
Sometimes I forget to read it with the vocoder sound in my head so as opposed to sounding robotic it kind of resembles the flanging effect turians had in their voices when they spoke in Mass Effect.
>>87022720
practically human one*
>>87022720
I imagine him sounding like Dr. Claw, which is what Welker basically used for Soundwave anyway, just more flat and monotone.
>>87022767
So Dark of the Moon Soundwave?
Seems too growlish for me.
>>87022808
Agreed.
I imagine IDW Soundwave sounding far less intimidating. Also younger.
>>87022808
>>87022818
I'm also imaging a slightly more affectionate tone to his voice when he's being nice to his cassettes
>>87022834
With the exception of Ratbat, I presume. Still have problems thinking that that was once a senator.
>>87022767
I think I'd better imagine Soundwave's voice as Doctor Manhattan, only with very minimal robotic audio
>>87021453
>>87021949
Don't know if it was supposed to be but it's a weirdly sombre moment for Starscream.
Maybe because I always associate catatonia with trauma in fiction.
>>87023028
>Soundwave's voice as Doctor Manhattan
That's literally what my IDW Soundwaves voice sounds like but with a hint of that robotic effect. Errr also a bit more emotion.
>>87023028
>>87023091
I forgot how soft Manhattan's voice is. It's actually perfect for Soundwave.

>>87023091
>>87023155

There's also Cybertron Soundwave's voice.
>>87023304
Yeah but he rarely spoke in complete sentences.
Consider the following: faceless bots (hi Soundwave) giving little head-nuzzle kisses as affectionate displays
>>87024274
Consider this. (Rung's asleep)
>>87024579
I'm in full support of antennae fencing (Whirl is so cute)
With all this talk about Soundwave I kinda hope we get Rumble and Frenzy as Mini-Cons in RiD. By giving him the sturdier looks from the TFP artbook you could even make a toy in the show's style.
>>87024648
He is, but he's also the kinda guy you'd try to avoid IRL because one minute you laugh with him at a bar the next he's about to glas anyone who looks at him funny.
>>87024721
>That picture
Even Cyclonus can't resist the gun-titty
I agree, though. I love Whirl but his unpredictable nature would stress me out way too much IRL
>>87025366
I think I just want him to be more stable and forming some healthy relationships.
>>87024274
This is probably what Rewind and Chromedome do.
>>87026057

>>87026057
Well it seems that cyclonnus and whnirl are getting more friendly so that is something
>>87026099
Elita-1?
>>87026099
that kind of goes with "more stable and less likely to start shooting at the drop of a hat", but he does consider Rung as a friend, to some degree
>>87026121
Cyclonus somehow found it in him to forgive him, so that's another possibility. Or he thirdwheels between Tailgate and him.
>>87026099
Arcee? First date would probably consist of a killing spree.
I just had the best idea for explaining all the transformers with gimmicky toy alt modes in the IDW continuity...they're rejects from Shockwaves attempts to make triple changers.
By this I mean the Duocons, those micromasters that formed opposite ends of a vehicle and Mutants...though the Mutants come in two flavors: those with two robot modes and no vehicle mode like Swampshriek and Razorclaw and those with two vehicle modes and no robot mode like Icebird and Poisonbite.

Jesus Christ.
Right, I'm ignoring you from now on.
>>87026313

>>87026313
Soundwave also has a mouth behind that faceplate. We saw it in issue #22.
>>87026712
I don't think he's ever letting that thing slide back, otherwise he gets a sensory overload again.
>>87026205
Also whirl is the reason cyclonus has saved tailgate life twice...
>>87026475
Are they on steroids?
>>87026571
I'm the opposite! I have a weakness for faceless 'bots, though admittedly Tailgate's little 'mouth' is a little bit unsettling, mostly because it reminds me of those garbage disposal units in sinks (that chew people up when they stupidly stick their hand down it in horror films).
>>87026712
Well fuck
I really need to reread at some point. My memory is terrible, as you can seeOn the plus side, robot kisses
>>87026779
>otherwise he gets a sensory overload again.
Is that the stated reason for him wearing the faceplate? I figured it was just to conceal his expressions? That makes sense though since it would help prevent him from smelling and tasting things so well.
>>87026780
>>87026821
Well hot damn if the idea of Tailgate and his two "dads" isn't cute as hell.
>>87026779
>>87026821
Interesting though about faceplates.
Rewind was a disposable class so all his type had face plates. Tailgate was only a week old and he has a faceplate.
In Orion Pax Oneshot Wheeljack said mouths were a popular fad at the time when they updated Optimus' body. So why did Soundwave have a mouth? He can't remember anything prior to meeting Ravage so did he had a status or was rich enough to afford an upgrade?
New thread? We hit limit.
>>87026821
>On the plus side, robot kisses
Optimus and Soundwave are probably both so awkward when it comes to thingsee like that. Props to the one who actually makes some sort of move.
Regardless, I'm here for it.
>>87026821
Oh, I don't mind faceless bots in themselves! It's just that it's a bit freaky that Cybertronians pop-out with faces and others not, and then there's the Empurata, a public shaming by permanently removing a face. (The concepts reminds me nicely of medieval shame masks which were thankfully temporary).
>>87026909
That might just be my headcanon but with all from what I've seen from Soundwave he might just be autistic and needs to restrict his sensory input before he has another episode. Hiding his expression is another benefit of that, I figured.
>>87026978
I would make another thread but I'm on mobile.
>>87026992
> both make a move simultaneously
> awkwardly bonk into each other
> they try to play it off, to ashamed to admit it
>>87026996
>what I've seen from Soundwave he might just be autistic
If you're referring to the whole sensory ordeal in which he tastes colors and what not it's pretty much described exactly like Synthesia? Unless there's something sensory related I don't know about autism in that case enlighten me because I genuinely did not know.
>>87027029
I can actually see Optimus being the one to initiate and fucking up like that.
He'd probably excuse it as trying to get a better look at 'Waves eyes past the visor.
>>87026992
>>87027029
C-Cute
I can see it though, yeah. Maybe the casettes finally goad Soundwave into initiating something
>>87027012
Ah, same! I hope a desktop anon can make a new one soon
>>87027111
Maybe it's the fact he doesn't have anything to filter out all the "noise" caused by his synthesia...at all.
I have similar problems with my position on the Spectrum, I can function just fine and I'm a whizz at doing things...but only if I have some way of blocking out anything other people are doing...being in a noisy science lab or lecture theatre is a nightmare for me, my brain just doesn't have the wiring to filter out the background noise and it ends up grinding to a halt.
>>87027111
Autism is often comorbid, meaning that it drags a whole gaggle of other problems with it. There's been a suspected link between Synesthesia and autism, if you want to read through a study of it.
> Conclusions: The significant increase in synaesthesia prevalence in autism suggests that the two conditions may share some common underlying mechanisms. Future research needs to develop more feasible validation methods of synaesthesia in autism.
Suspected because it's just one study with not rebuttals. It's what I picked up from an autistic friend who often blogs and shares articles about it. Helps to learn more about it.
