Is anyone else incredibly impressed that the show chose to have Star be the one pining for Marco? After Blood Moon Ball I was expecting the show to go down the predictable route and have the male lead pine for the female lead until she finally realizes she reciprocates those feelings. It's the cliche that dominates the "dorky male lead" archetype.


The fact that the show decided to have the ultra-confident female lead be the one pining for her dorky male co-lead is incredibly refreshing, and I hope the show takes full advantage of it.

It seems to signify being part of that family rather than necessarily meaning "ruler of Mewni," and isn't something that every woman of that line is going to have (unless the ones without them married into the family?). Either way though, yeah, as far as we know Heinous is likely somehow related to Star.

This also means that a random background woman with star cheeks from the first episode wasn't just an animator's mistake, but is somewhere in the Butterfly family tree. Well, maybe it was a mistake at first, but it's not now.

Ok sve-not-g, I saw an animated short a few months ago. It had a boy and a girl as the main characters, and I vaguely think they had a similar dynamic where the girl was super reckless and the boy was "safe". They were at school, school bullshit happened, then the girl opened up a magic portal into some private world where everything was made of clouds and fluff etc., but then some bad guy came and they had to fight him in some way. After watching Star Vs I assumed it was the pilot (it was more ambiguous whether the magic was real, so apparently similar to the original concept for Star Vs) but apparently the pilot was never aired?

the second season is breddy gud but a thing that bothers me is the huge difference in the style between the "Ludo's return" episodes and the ones about the main characters.
