>>86938172

I'm torn. I like Tomoe because she is so much like Usagi, they understand each other so well. On the other hand, Chizu is so damn cool and ballsy.

>>86938370
So, this one included, she kissed him three times total and he kissed her once. 3-1 for Chizu.
Just fuck already, goddamn.
>>86938415
And 1-0 for Kitsune.
Team Tomoe still without points and about to be politically married off for ineptitude.
>>86938435
And this is how Hikiji's coffers grew heavier and his iron grip tightened. Many innocent civilians and brave members of the noble Geishu clan died later as a direct result of The Dark Lord's increased resources to wage his secret campaign of terror.
Fuck you, Kitsune.
>>86938368

>>86939719
I think UY is particularly good if you're into comics from an artist standpoint. Stan does so much with simple black and white, and he researches everything so well, it's amazing despite being really a quite loose style.
And the panel compositions, man. The angles and positioning of everything, the framing. It's hard to articulate.
>>86940067
There was a very recent issue that had a female Komori ninja that Usagi rescued, it ended as well as you'd expect.

>>86939719
It was only implied. "Would you stay with me for a while" followed by a bird's eye shot of the building. Depending on Stan's plans, it can be interpreted both ways. There is only one girl Usagi kissed by his own volition AND on panel.
But hey, it's Usagi, so this whole discussion is moot. He can never have a stable and happy relationship.

This thread
This image >>86940005
this thread is just too good.
>>86940005
This is amazing
How well received do you think an Usagi Yojimbo cartoon would be if Stan had full control over it? Do you think /co/ would love it or shitpost about it? I think more of the latter, with plenty of "go back to /a/"
do you think that Usagi killing that foreign ambassador will come back to bite him? It was self-defense and the guy was insane, but being a noble he would likely have had strong connections
>>86943462
I think it'd be fine, albeit maybe a bit watered down in terms of violence.
I'm more curious how the TMNT 2012 appearance of Usagi will go since there's a very good chance Jei will be on it and he is not a kid friendly character.
>>86943462
Nah, the magic of Usagi is in the comics only.
>>86943571
Probably. If we get an evil Europeans arc we'll probably also meet some that Usagi will befriend.
>>86943622
TMNT 2k3 did okay by him.
>>86943462
I think it'd be great but the slow pace at times would make people mad.
Usagi yojimbo in animated form, if Stan had 100% control, would probably be a lot like Kino's Journey: the Beautiful World in terms of tone and pacing, and that makes me hard

I almost wish we had a 90's OVA-esque system where basically any franchise could get one or two episodes made so Stan could do something like this.
Thanks dude.
>>86949717
I really do wish that was a thing, even though i've been watching anime forever, I still regularly find OVAs that adapt some Japanese LN or obscure manga and it's usually fantastic.

T'was beauty that kilked the beast!
Seriously, Usagi has to be the most handsome guy in the country to make women fall for him like that. One sad face and they all want to comfort him.
And yet he is still lonely. Stupid ronin.
>>86943462
I'm not sure. It might be good, but I think Stan would need help. Comics don't translate to comics 1:1 very well.
It would have to be a high-quality limited series, that could be good. Or good quality OVA's like anons suggested.
>>86943573

>>86967393
everyone in this thread keeps saying that, but i think the ending is ambiguous enough that it isnt really a big deal
now this thread is my first experience with stan but people have peaceful (if incredibly scary) run ins with such creatures all the time

im just saying the kids not as good as dead
>>86968392
You...uh...you don't know how Jei works.
That family is as good as dead. As good as deader than dead, since not even souls survive Jei.

>>86968392
Yeah, no. There was a time when Jei had brief moments of lucidity and was capable of interacting with people besides Keiko without killing them. That time is long gone.
The best case scenario for that kid is that his mind snapped from watching his parents die a horrific death and he now has a new Cousin/Sister and Uncle.
>>86968453
>As good as deader than dead, since not even souls survive Jei.
It's not necessarily an instantaneous process either. Might take years for it to take root.
>>86968392
They are a good and honest, generous, family, that is kind to strangers and to their son.
Jei's Gods are evil.
They judge the good to be evil, and the petty evil to be evil, and pretty much anyone that doesn't worship them to be evil.
That family is not just dead, but their souls are consigned to oblivion.
There is no other way it will go.
>>86968883

I'm hoping that it's Orphanmaker that does Jei in for good.

>>86969877
Sasuke mentioned hunting someone matching Jei's description, but Shoki told him to go elsewhere since there was a greater and more urgent threat to deal with.
Imagine something WORSE than Jei.
Still, Sasuke would probably win (Jei is not big on all that magic thing), but unless he knows how to imprison his dark soul, Jei would soon come back in yet another body.
So, last Usagi thread me and few other anons decided to e-mail Dark Horse about possible reprints of Space Usagi, since Saga is catching up to current run and most of second hand books found on Amazon are in shoddy condition. Well, here's the answer:
>Unfortunately, Space Usagi is sold out and we do not have any immediate plans to reprint. Sorry to not be of more help!
Welp. Shoddy second hand book it is, then.
>>86970615
Damn. Thanks for informing us anyway.
If any anon could story time Bridge of tears I would really appreciate it
>>86970615
Thanks. Well, maybe since you asked they might put it in the queue.
>>86971056
Wow, NEW (somehow) Space Usagi books go for over 2000 (!!!) bucks on Amazon. Slightly used/in good condition go over a 100 Obama Coins.
To compare, you can get older (still new) Saga tomes for 12 bucks.
Fucking hell.
>Usagi never gets the waifus
>>86936561
Dick move!
>>86937043
He really tried to not kill somebody this time.
He tried really hard.
>>86971347
The minute Amazon sells out of a particular volume, the prices skyrocket. If there's any volume that you want that has a handful of copies available, I'd recommend getting them while you can.
It took forever for me to find a copy of Travels with Jotaro that was only about twice what they normally cost instead of about four to five times. Seasons was also a pain to find but not quite as bad; I had every other volume for probably about a year before I got the last one.
>>86937946
Whenever Kitsune smiles like this I just see a wire not making a circuit.
>>86971857
Well, he mentioned once how his blade starts showing signs of being used too often and got sad about it.
I mean, at this point he killed hundreds people, but most of them were assholes who started it. He has never murdered anyone, it always was in self defence or in defence of someone or during a war. If he ever feels he killed unjustly he's gonna tag along with Sanshobo.
>>86938191
>Bigger tits
>Bigger hair
>Face not of death.
Gee, wonder why.
>>86938277
Kitsune is batting zero today.
>>86938370
>>86972190
>it always was in self defence or in defence of someone or during a war.
In defense of someone can take on many forms.
A Mother's Love for instance.
>>86938415
I like Kitsune's crazy eye.
Also, apparently she is the type to mark over territory. Checkmate, Chizu!
>>86972313
"hhhnnng-"is for heart attacks, not boners.
>>86938949
Do you think he's not batshit crazy when he's sleeping?
>>86939063
I thought it was Sansho where they revealed Tomoe married someone else.
>>86939138
You know when you scroll and words form?
>Admit the futility of your struggle, nigger!
>>86972318
Those assholes started it.
>>86972313
>>86972382
I just like how kissing is now Chizu's and Usagi's way of saying "see you later, hot stuff" to each other.
>>86972660
It's non-consensual on Usagi's part, though.
>>86972721
Oh, he kissed her back once. And then they laughed and parted ways smiling.
>>86972385
He had spells of lucidity until about his third appearance.
>>86972660
Ninja are outside of the social order of proper society in feudal Japan.
So he can do stuff with her that he could probably never quite allow himself with peasants, members of the samurai caste, members of the nobility, anyone else, really.
Well, maybe foreigners, but they weren't exactly commonplace in feudal Japan, either.
is usagi supposed to be kind of chubby?
>>86973071
Usagi walks a few dozen miles in an average day, getting an even bigger sword workout on most days when he isn't walking said distances, and he doesn't have enough money for food to go above and beyond that exercise level.
So no.
>>86960416
>>86960430
>>86960403
You'd think after Noodles she would be less inclined to drag Kiyoko into crime.
Well, I'm sure she'll learn on the next partner.
>>86968392
Well, they just ran out of candy so...
>>86972190
Except that one time with the old lady.
>>86972963
>Well, maybe foreigners, but they weren't exactly commonplace in feudal Japan, either.
Wait, then where did she pick up kissing?
>>86973071
>>86973158
I made this just on that subject.
>>86973390
i was just about to post something with that panel in it! looks kinda chubby huh?
>>86973291
Well, with Noodles she just straight-up took care of him, he was never going to be able to look after himself properly. Noodles was probably also older than her. Kiyoko's going to grow up and hopefully outlive her, so she needs to give her an education to make a living with, and there's only one trade Kitsune know enough to pass on. She doesn't have the funds or connections to be able to drop Kiyoko off and leave her with a decent life, so apprenticeship in her own work it is.
Also, this is feudal japan, Kiyoko's old enough that she has to do some work.
>>86973390
It could just be how the clothes hang, but Usagi could have a little stomach on him. I feel like there is a straight-up shirtless Usagi scene somewhere, though.
>>86973379
Not commonplace doesn't mean nonexistent. As the former 2nd in command, and then the head, of a ninja clan, one with powerful connections to a powerful Lord, Chizu would've had far more opportunities to deal with foreigners than the average feudal Japanese...almost anybody, really.
>>86973390
If anything he looks underweight, you can see the underline of his ribs
>>86973457
I'd have to look around, but I'm pretty sure he's ripped. Gen probably has a bit of a belly though.
>>86973463
>>86973379
There was one story where she was carrying a recipe for more powerful gunpowder, which had come from a foreigner. I think in that case it was said she got it from an agent who was middleman, but it's evidence enough of those sorts of ninja dealings.
>>86938191
>Tomoe, aka "female Usagi".
Thats why she is perfect.
BUMP
>>86973470
He is ripped.
>>86938191
Stan's been drawing Chizu with a harsher face lately while Tomoe pretty much looks the same forever.
>>86960253
Fucking Slavs
I bought the first saga book ages ago, but I would like to know is getting the saga books the best way to go regarding UY? Because I see all these other volumes with some of them being quite expensive.
>>86938191
I just don't really care for the "bad girl with a heart of gold" schtick and prefer what most here would consider boring relationships relationships so of course I'm going to hope Tomoe wins the Usagibowl.
>>86976010
The saga volumes are pretty cheap, under 20 new (except for 7 which is 25) and 15 or lower used.
The Special Edition is pretty expensive but it collects all the Fantagraphics and Mirage issues
which is not what is in the Saga voumes
>>86977016
Same
>>86975000
Well he had to contrast her with the more carefree Kitsune. Plus, being an outcast to a ninja clan you want to retake and having a vendetta against the current chief and his employer would put strain on anyone.
I liked how in Senso she worked for Noriyuki. And when she sacrificed herself, even Tomoe was sad. A lot must have happened during that ten years or so time skip.
>>86977016
>>86977583
Not if she gets married. It'll be Mariko all over again, but this time it'll be a woman chosing her duty over her love.
Don't forget The Bridge of Tears. Usagi was reluctant at first, but he really was falling for that poor girl. Tomoe is not his final choice, not yet anyway.
Still, the best answer to the Tomoe/Chizu problem is a threesome.
>>86973470
In that rain drum story in the Scorpions book he is shirtless for a quite a few pages and holy crap does he look ripped. Like, stupid sexy drawn by a lusty fangirl ripped.
>>86978119
> Tomoe/Chizu/Kitsune lesbfest
I can only dream.
>>86959262
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH SHIT
Imagine an Usagi Yojimbo fighting game, cool right?because is never gonna happen
>>86979804
It must not hAve ninja tourtles. They suck.
>>86979804
So like Samurai Shodown with furry heads
>>86979804
>not an open world RPG like a more PG Witcher III where you wander around Japan, help people, get jobs, meet friends and fight bandits.
>occasionally you must face the supernatural
>if you're super unlucky you'll run into Jei way l too early
>if you're dumb enough to try to openly fight Hikiji you end up in a fight you cannot win
>you get to chose, by your actions and dialogue, the female winner of Usagibowl
>never ever
Why even live.
>>86979979
Yeah, I was actually thinking in that
>>86979804
Look up the C64 Usagi game.
>>86979804
Jei would probably be broken as he's the only guy who has a spear.
>>86940005
Kitsune really steals! No dignity!
Anyone played around with this? How is it?
>>86979804
Imagine any good modern Usagi Yojimbo video game.
>>86983181
They made a decent Dororo game once, anything is possible.
>>86978754
>>86980598
He would be a NPC.
>>86984032
This, the spear should be the playable one
>>86982431
Which edition? I have all 3 editions.
Didn't Jei evil spirit enter a women? Its been a while since I've read all of Usuagi
>>86984995
It enteredInazumaafter Usagi knocked Jei on his ass with Grasscutter. She dead now.
>>86985064Fuck
I could see some Jei slaying people for the god much easier since he's in a wanted body. He could kill off Bounty huntersAlso I wonder what happens to the girl that follows jei
>>86985115>Also I wonder what happens to the girl that follows jeiThe original plan was for her to be Jei's new host, but Stan thought that was a tad too dark and made Jei inhabit Inazuma instead.
>>86985115
>>86985147I have a mighty need drawfags
>>86985147
It would probably be weird seeing a little girl murder people.
Also its kinda cliche
>That arc where Usagi traveled with his son
That was my favorite arc.
>>86985207
I'm glad Stan didn't go down that route simply because it's easier for Jei to have a travelling companion, especially since it's been shown that oddly enough, Jei DOES care about Keiko's well being. If they ever get focus, it gives Jei an extra mouth to have a conversation with or explain something.
>>86985115
After the change of bodies I think it's pretty much proved that the girl considers the evil spirit to be his "uncle"
>>86985147It could be still the plan, I recall her carring the spear in Senso and havind a scar in his face implying that she was involved in some fight
>>86985257
Fucking hell, If we don't get a proper ending and Senso is the closest thing to an ending we get, that'd make me a little mad.Except how they ended Jei. That shit was hilarious.
>Fever dream where Jei was inside Usagi
>>86985375
That was probably the most fucked up this comic has ever gotten.
>>86985493
Could you story time that for the next thread
>>86985493
>Usagi gets possessed by jei
>Kills of Gen
>Wanders killing of the sin ful
>He wanders back to his hometown
>>86985524
Possibly. I have it in paper back but I might be able to find it online.
>>86985372
Jei's dead genuinely make me laugh
>>86936561
And cue 'Utrenja'
>>86985253
It's explained that Jei has a fondness for little girls beausethe deal that brought it into the world involved saving the life of one, so it seems the only kind of life it personally respects.
>>86985667
When did it explain that? It would make sense considering his origin though. I might just be forgetting it.
>>86985147
I thought it was Tomoe he was planning to use but he found himself liking her too much to go that route.
>>86985584
If anybody is a likely future Jei host, it's Gen rather than Usagi.
>>86985604
Keiko's reaction was what really sold it.
>>86988724
I would love an arc with Jei and Keiko facing silly situations just to see their reactions
>>86989114
I'd kinda enjoy a story like that too. Though you'd probably need to keep the story isolated from other people since Jei really only has one solution when others are around...
>>86959417
Oooh, I like this.
Nailed Daigoro's behaviour in this instance down pat.
>>86989114
>>86989149
I'd like to see them run into a Night Parade.
Not for Keiko and Jei's reactions, but the monsters when they realize what they're up against.
>>86989278
That'd be a cool one.
>>86990412
>Jei vs. a buch of demons, witches and monsters
Ineeded it would be cool
>>86983181
I'd hope for platinum, but I'd settle for something like Way of the Samurai
>>86960366
that last panel, i love herthere is porn of her ?
Wow, this thread is still here.
I only got into Usagi a few months ago, so let me just thank you all for the best and longest UY discussion I've ever had. Extra special thanks for the storytime. I hope we all meet in another thread soon.
