I'm three hours too late, but basically Clint had a shit dad, and shitty father figures, and Cap was the first guy who put up with his rebellious nature and shit attitude and helped his transition from c-list villain to Avenger.

For the longest part of his superhero career Hawkeye rebelled against Cap like a kid, if Cap said go right he would give him shit about wanting to go right, if Cap said jump Hawkeye would challenge that decision, basically Clint would be a little shit about it and give Steve a headache.

But because Cap was good to him Clint was also extremely loyal and looked up to him a lot and if anyone else shit talked Steve Hawkeye would be the first to defend Cap.

Also when Hawkeye came back from the dead and found out Cap was dead he was really angry, and when Tony offered him the position of Cap he took it because he also secretly aspires to be like Steve (and this is brought up in different comics) but then he left the mantle because he didn't think it was right to take the mantle while Steve was dead.

He was MUH BUCKY when Bucky was captured and then when he "died" but he moved on after that and in TWS it was MUH BUCKY when he found out he was Winter Soldier but frankly if it had been Peggy he would have been the same.

Civil War it wasn't so much MUH BUCKY except he wanted to help him, but when he suspects he's dangerous he treats him like a weapon and puts him on that one machine that has his arm trapped, then when Bucky talks to him he lets him go.

He was also OK with Bucky going to a facility and getting him help until Zemo fucked things up and T'challa wanted to kill Bucky.

Not to mention he let Bucky freeze himself again, if he was so MUH BUCKY he would have plead for him to not do it.

People really exaggerate the MUH BUCKY shit, and Sam is more than a sidekick he helped Steve with his PTSD and he went with him to Peggy's funeral and they have a fun relationship.

I guess if you want to look at the old stuff just pick up the old Avengers Cap's Kooky Quartet run (which is the second team change after the original Avengers leave), they had someinteraction in Hawkeye and Mockingbird and Hawkeye: Blindspot, Fallen Son - The Death of Captain America #3, Captain America vol 3 #04, Secret Avenger 21.1 and those are just the ones I remember.

That's what I like to call Bendis drama, he loves making characters have extreme reaction out of nowhere like how he had Jarvis proclaim that he hated Tigra, or had Carol think Hank Pym was better off dead (and then had her comforting him on his way to Jan's funeral, lol), or have Tony say Captain Britain was lame.

I get the feeling there would be some romance but it would be really one sided for a long ass time on Danny's part. Luke/female!Luke wouldn't really consider female!Danny/Danny a romantic interest (at least in the beginning) mainly because from what I've seen Luke likes women who give him attitude (Claire and Jessica) and while he does form relationships he's also kind of a slut (and I am sure female!Luke would be too)
