Your show is dead and is never coming back. The show was a charming but cynical attempt to sell goth merchandise.

This thread will be be like every other Ruby Gloom thread, minimal discussion, someone will post lewds, they'll be a small argument over how old the cast is and then the posting of more lewds. The thread ends with a image dump.

Anyway, reflecting on Ruby. What was your first episode, your favorite episode and your least favorite episode?

My first was Misery Loves Company, my favorite is probably Misery Family Reunion and my least favorite episode is anything skullboy focused.

You know what I'd like to see is more Ruby and gang vidya cross-over.

I think that would be pretty cool, depends on the game though. This picture is one of my favorites, a buddy(miss you spikey) drew it for me when I was streaming Half Life: Opposing Force on my birthday. HL:OF is one of my favorite games of all time.

First Episode: I'll be Home for Misery. Originally I just watched the show to know more about Misery and accidentally fell in love with the whole cast.

Favorite Episode: Hair(less) The Musical. I'm a sucker for Broadway and this episode just feels like the best way to finish Skull Boy's overdone character arc of finding where he's from. Wish it was the series finale.

Lease Favorite: Shaken Not Scared. It's mostly just boring and Boo-Boo is a really uninteresting and one-dimensional character.

Today's the anniversary? Well, officially today is weire to me.

Crashed organs. A neighbour didn't see her when she moved her car. Fortunately she heard her on time to stop, but she still got hurt. This lasted a few days and yesterday began to die.

She's been here for ten years. She's not the only cat I have nor the first one to die, but I'm still sad. Specially because she broke her leg some time ago and she had to go through two surgeries and finally an amputation. She was fine for a while but then the car hit her other leg.

I just started re-watching the show on youtube yesterday. It's still one of my favorite cartoons to come out of Canada

I'm really sorry to hear about your kitters. My kitty died in January, and I still miss her every single day. She used to sleep in my bed with me and lay her head on my hand. Waking up in the morning with her not there hurts. All you can do is make your cats last moments as comfortable as possible. My cat was put down in my arms and I don't think I ever cried as much as I did that day. It was one of the most painful experience i've ever had to go through. I know people say "it's just a cat" but we know they are so much more than that. They truly are part of your family and I loved her just as much as anyone else in my family. I know that may sound weird to people but whatever.

It's insane. The way this show still has so many fans and is still around despite it being over for a while now. Basically I have nothing to say or do that hasn't been said and done before. We explored every facet of it and discussed nuances years ago. It's bafflingly persistent and popular. Not that I'm complaining.

funny thing, i found /co/ thanks to Ruby Gloom. I watched the show in a cartoon cable channel in spanish, while i was traveling, and i couldn't find it anywhere when i got back home. I had to google it and i found deviantart fanarts, one day i found one of those fanarts with some character, i don't remember who, holding a pickle jar with Ruby inside it and some message like "can it" or something.

Roughly put however the changes made for the show worked out for the best. It may be the only such case where a reinterpreted character ends up as a tremendous improvement. Misery got the same treatment. And it worked.

I honestly don't know. A golem is essentially soulless and there are rules and words needed to animate it. Likewise, it has a master. So that doesn't ring true to me. Some sort of doll with a soul? Could be. I just default to thinking of her as not human and immortal. Good enough for me. Though I like to imagine she's secretly powerful as all hell.

The golem thing mostly comes from me spending too much time playing D&D/Pathfinder, where you do in fact need to bind a spirit to the thing to animate it; typically, it's an earth elemental of some kind, but that's not always the case. Some golems are also marginally intelligent, like flesh golems and cadaver collectors, and there's even a spell called Awaken Construct that gives mindless constructs (everything from a golem to an animated object) an Intelligence score.

I still have the headcanon that Ruby's a ceramic doll crafted by a toymaker back in the Victorian era, who she regarded as her 'father', and he was married to a seamstress. (Insert accidental necromancy/fey magic here), and then she came to life, living and learning with her 'parents' with the knowledge that she will outlive them by a wide margin. Because of that, she aims to learn as much as she can about her family's crafts to continue their legacy, but because of her supernatural nature, she has the odd effect of some of her creations spontaneously animating themselves (which explains Mr. Buns).

Love Ruby Gloom. Cute, very likable show with fun characters and a really nice style. The backgrounds are so nice.

Favorite is Misery, but I like all of em.

You also have to understand that this was before normies took over the Internet, before smartphones, before social media and before women pretended to be gamers and stuff. If you were merely a standard Internet user at that time you had to know shit about computers. It took some knowledge and effort, and you were most likely socially dead. The average person had nothing to do on the Net, yet alone the drive to get into it. It was something for weird people. And take all that into consideration, and then imagine the public eye seeing something utterly incomprehensible like 4chan, filled to the brim with nameless individuals who seemingly had magical hacker powers and absolutely no morality. At that time, to them and most of the Internet Anon was the end boss. Someone you don't fuck with, someone who does not care and who can ruin you just because. 4chan was the sordid well of original content that spread all over the Internet. We mattered.

Now we matter again, but in different ways. Point is those days truly were something special, and with hindsight I'm glad I ended up here. That was on a 56k dial up modem and Win 95. Good times.

Back when Ruby Gloom was a picture book (I like to call that gen2 Ruby) these were all various characters that were never seen in the cartoon. The fairy, the goblin, and the giant monsters have no real names but they look really cool.

The green one in perticular is actually named. Her name is Jealousy. All I know anyone really knows about her is that the page she's in says "When Jealousy reers its ugly head, give it a makeover."

I actually ended up redesigning Jealousy and giving her a personality of her own eventually. It's just silly fanon but it's better than her being given little to nothing.

Only 3 so far. There's Merch Ruby, Book Ruby, and Show Ruby. Each of them are different, some in drastic ways. But I personally perfer Show Ruby.

Also here's that redesign of Jealousy I mentioned earlier. I tried to be on-model to the regular Ruby models but even then it's not my best work. I mostly did this to show her color scheme.

Generally speaking Internet-Wide, they were invented to stop spambots from posting advertisements. Specific to 4chan, they were implemented as a way to stop a DDoS spamflood from some group that decided they wanted to bring down 4chan. (Admittedly, 4chan was suffering a serious lowpoint then.) I think it was a Russian group? Either way, they implemented the captchas to help stop rapid massive posts. It works, but kinda sucks because you used to be able to really flood threads with lots of rapid relevant image posts back then.

Quite funny, I too, found /co/ thanks to Ruby Gloom. I started the first actualy active deviantart Ruby Gloom club and being the obssesive fag I am searched everywhere I could for Ruby pictures, I asked a member where did he found some pics I hadn't see and he directed me to 4chan and /co/ around late 2008.
After that I never left 4chan. And I also remember that pic.

About why I like the show, I was in a horribly depressed state back then, like very emotionally fucked up, unable to function and the show sooted me, cheered me up. Both the therapist I started seeign and RG helped me get out of that hole. I made that club because I saw it was the same for many people.

I ended up discovering it through a YouTuber named RebelTaxi who put Misery on his Top 10 Goths video. From that point on I watched the show, found /co/, and have been part of what I think is a reviving community of people.

And I like the show (and also want to revive the show) for the same reason. I have depression and anxiety and am currently in a not-so-good part of my life. I want to do my part in showing the world Ruby Gloom and showing her the way I always pictured and saw her as, which is someone to be there to tell you that not everything in life is so awful and that there's always a bright side or a light at the end of the tunnel.

Your intent is good but, not realistic. Better make a original uplifting cartoon if you are serious about it, reviving RG is not really up to us.
