I find dobson very useful. I've successfully convinced a dozen people who didn't have what it takes to not blow loads of money on art school with Dobson as an example.

I think if people aren't familiar with Dobson, there's this want to maybe give him the benefit of the doubt that he's not such a bad guy, and all of the grief he gets is too much.

What they don't realize is that people don't tear him up for his shitty inflation hentai, or his his mediocre soapbox comic, or his meh-tier art skills.

People tear him up because of his character. Years ago, people were genuinely nice to him. People would actually give him informative, sound critique and criticism. But he wasn't looking for that. He was looking to be showered in accolades and praise. After years of some guy begging for critiques and criticism and advice, but then just throwing it back in their faces, sure. I like how he's trying to rub off legitimate criticism as "negativity".

I mean his art hasn't improved an inch in 10 years, and yet he draws a bunch of shit every day. That sort of stagnation is only possible if you literally do not attempt anything new, stick with the same protocol, the same cut corners, the same comfort zone. It should be worrying to say the least.

The sad thing is, at one point, his art actually was improving. Before he deleted his DA, he had galleries of art he uploaded and around the 2006 mark, you could see there was some growth in his art.

Now, it's just beyond stagnate. I honestly don't know what happened to him to cause him to stop improving himself but if I were to venture a guess, it was his non-stop victim/persecution complex.
