So, in other words, it's not going to be very good?

For a character that's supposed to be fast, Scout kind of just walked around slowly the entire fight. And they didn't even use some of his abilities they brought up, like double jump or whatever.

I mean, I didn't really care who won, as I've never played either of their respective games, but it seems like Death Battle has problems with how they portray their characters. They bring up a bunch of things that have no effect on the outcome, and then in the end they go "Oh, but remember this one minor thing we mentioned halfway through? Yeah. That was the deciding factor all along. The other character had no chance." which honestly, is pretty annoying.

I think the worst part is the formula all these episodes follow. The two characters meet and fight, they trade blows, but one character on the the upper-hand. They have their opponent on the ropes, until their opponent suddenly comes back with a super or unexpected move, and wins the fight. It happens almost every fight, and it feels cheap.

Well, that and some of the fights feel pretty lazy and feel like they only made them just because there was demand. Shadow vs Mewtwo is a prime example of that. The actual fight is short as hell, and not very interesting. When they actually put a lot of effort in, the results are usually pretty great (Superman vs Goku; Snake vs Sam) but those ones are far in few between.

Plus, sometimes it feels like they're reaching to get their results. For example, the whole Tracer is so fast, she can see bullets as they're being fired. You know... Instead of realizing that anyone seeing a gun pointed at them would get out of the way, and that has nothing to do with her mind working so fast she can literally see the bullet flying towards her out of the barrel of the gun.

That all said, I typically like Death Battle, and think it's fun, but I kind of wish they could iron out those flaws.

I think that really is the biggest problem with it. Death Battles fights are longer and more elaborate, but they often don't feel like they're anymore "scientific" than the OMMs. This is unfortunate as DB does try to portray itself as very in-depth and researched, when really it seems like a lot of their decision making regarding the characters comes down to nothing more than speculation, or at worse, personal reasoning.

This is way more a problem of personal taste, but I hate the actual "death" aspect of Death Battle. Not in the whole "mean-spirited" kind of way, but how I feel like a Best of 1 is kind of a shitty format. This is a bad example, but I could just say "Oh Doopliss always wins every death battle because defeating him makes him win." I think the argument of "Gaara could just crush Toph" is a completely fair point, but if it was a best of three format that would only really work once and then Toph could possibly win after getting that move out of the way.

I'm honstly shocked that most people forget kirby acts more like a cartoon character than a comic character or anime character. If one pays attention to the kirby games, you'd see more examples of rule of funny than rule of cool.

1. The warp star can travel fast, but it's not agile, it's clumsy as fuck whenever kirby uses it in a level. Their comparison is like saying you could preform advanced dodging with a rocketship because they go fast.
2. Combat in DBZ has been faster than the eye can see ever since very early on, and kirby just has average speed.
3. Kirby can still be turned into candy, there's no reason buu would try that only once and give up.
4. There's no reason Buu would need to use enough power to kill himself on kirby, a reflected shot shouldn't work.

But most importantly, Gaara can fucking fly. Earthbending is primarilly linear attack that are fairly slow. Toph obviously can't actually reach Gaara at all, even in the animation the only way she gets to him is by going up in a straight line all the way till she gets to him. Gaara has to stand perfectly still that whole time for it to work. If he so much as moved over a few feet she'd not only miss him but be completely stranded in the sky.

Also, Earthbending is the bending that most requires contact with it's element, early on Toph pretty much required physical contact to manipulate metal for anything significant. She wouldn't be able to overpower Gaara's control without at least being in contact with it.

There's also the issue that Gaara can completely out range her just by staying in the sky. Again, earthbending requires close proximity, Even if she could over power Gaara's sand she just can't get close enough to him if he's moving in the sky.

They also just completely made up character traits for Cloud just to have him lose. He has nothing against using materia at any point and its not bad at all to the environment. His "signature" materia consists of the two weakest in the game and are chosen for no reason other than to gimp him. He also isn't nearly as headstrong as they said and isn't so stupid as to uselessly keep bashing a shield when he's doing no damage. If they really wanted Link to win so bad, they could've just given him Chateau Romani and Naryu's Love and he'd get complete invincibility for three days minimum. They wouldn't even have had to combine versions of Link to get this either.
