Characters that have had a confusing or no-purpose history, streamline them. Ben Urich, for example. Make him like Commissioner Gordon. Always on top of things, works with the street level heroes, tough-as-nails, tells them when shit is going down that they might not have known about without it.

Keep the year ambiguous. Not too many pop culture references. The tone should be campiness played straight, with actual stakes. Writers shouldn't be using the comic as their political soapbox and should stay true to the characters. Every month, have an Avengers teamup for something big, but not a huge event. The roster should be decided based on who didn't sell so well or didn't get a comic that month.

I agree, I would love it if comics would return to a Marvel Adventures style model for the whole company, but it's not viable anymore. At least not on the whole. Kind of like how you don't see as many multi-cam sitcoms anymore. They're not the norm and, in a way, are representative of a different time.

Comics are different now. Different audiences, different pop culture environment to take into account. Read what you like. Doesn't matter if it's currently being produced, the product is still out there.

Again, you have no idea what you're talking about. Who does and doesn't get a book is planned out ahead of time, it's not like every character just gets a random book every week. And putting a character on a popular team-book won't boost their sales, as proven by Squadron Supreme and Guardians of the Galaxy.
