Post season 5. I specifically remember the episode in season 7 where Peter got a retarded horse, and all the jokes were centered around how the horse just did looked stupid. That was the moment Family Guy hit rock bottom after a long 2-season decline.

I had really never considered the show funny, I honestly use to watch out of habit more then anything, but I fully gave up on it when it showed that its idea of a joke was wasting about 1/6 of an episode playing a music video and the only joke was that "lol it's gay". They didn't even have the decency to animate it. They just played a music video and called it gay.

All the decent writers went to American Dad (and they're still there), and you're left with a bunch of people who think a joke being dark and tasteless is funny in itself without setting it up, and you can just make characters do whatever the fuck you want for a particular scene. Very little effort.

hard to say for me. I still enjoy the earlier seasons, and even season 4 is pretty funny when they returned. Prob when it got canceled again and came back. Seems soul less. There's no heart or originality in the delivery anymore.

When it stopped doing cut-away gags. You know they were a bit over-used and shit but like, I actually enjoyed the cut aways sometimes it's better than this garbage they put out in context.

Like it's just... shit. I watched the most current episode they were on federal hill doing italian shit, jokes are going off. Then out of nowhere, what is supposed to seem like to be a joke is a plot progression point.

They are becoming so bad at separating jokes from plot that you can't tell anymore. Something that looks so cartoonish and dumb, it's actually part of plot.
